RAW IS WYATT!

Era previsível o que ia acontecer ao Sandow. Para ser em condições era no HiaC, não ontem. Anyway, ao menos só perdeu meio ano e não um ano inteiro...

RAW IS WYATT!

  • WWE is on the verge of signing a fucking massive new deal with NBC Universal. The deal is said to be worth roughly FIVE times their current $140m per year deal. That's around $700m PER YEAR. In 18 months, Vince McMahon would be a BILLIONAIRE (again). WHAT THE FUCK. This is all according to Forbes by the way, so it actually has some weight.

  • Damien Sandow has received a lot of praise for his match against Cena at RAW.

  • Roman Reigns is being set up for a face turn in the next few months as he splits off from the Shield. The plan is for the Wyatts to take over as the new Shield and be the main event heel trio in the Shield's place. Until the inevitable 10 year reunion of The Shield where they're all faces and beat the crap out of geriatric Triple H and attack Zack Ryder at a soup kitchen. Just cause.

  • Xavier Woods is set to be called up to the main roster soon, WWE is planning on using him as a PR tool because he's African-American and educated. Woods is currently studying for his phD.

  • Triple H was asked about Matt Morgan signing for WWE. He dismissed it because they've spent millions on the new performance centre in order to make new stars rather than use older ones. If it was someone with a bigger name, something would have been worked out. Burn on the Blueprint.

  • TNA has been up for sale for months and it seems a buyer is in place. It looks like this will be wrapped up in the next six months or so.

  • Bound for Glory outdrew WWE's live event in the same building by 200 fans.

  • Heyman is off television until Lesnar returns and it appears the Heyman/Punk feud is officially done. There is speculation that Ryback has garnered himself some heat with officials so they've pulled him from Heyman's side and it also goes to explain him getting tenderised inside five minutes on RAW on Monday.

  • Shawn Michaels is now off television until further notice. Him getting tenderised by Daniel Bryan was to write him off television.

  • Styles is defending his World title in AAA but will also be defending it in Japan on November 16th for Great Muta's promotion.

  • Eric Bischoff is being paid to sit at home until his deal expires in February. He has been off television for like two years or something. I can't remember. Lots of people are happy about it because Eric had a negative attitude about creative, talents and pretty much everything in TNA. Spike loved him cause he speak-ah their language (no word if he gave them a vegemite sandwich) but Eric is done with TNA. They wanted to release him but it worked out cheaper to keep him til the end of his deal.

  • Those in charge of TNA Creative at the moment are Matt Conway and Dave Lagana but they are overseen by Jeff Gaburick (released from WWE earlier this year, I believe) and Jeff Jarrett who has re-established his position in the company in the past few months.

  • Kurt Angle is injured again! He has torn knee cartilege from the moonsault at BFG. I would guess tonight's taped episode of IMPACT will be his last appearance for a little while. Or he could work through it. Because ruthless aggression.

Based on the WWE conference call this morning, executives were apparently disappointed with the Summer Slam PPV buys and the term 'attraction' was used as the reason. Couldn't agree more. PPV's are all attraction driven and they've always been.

However, the more that is given away on free TV and the more free TV that is provided in general the harder it is for attractions to be considered worth spending extra, big bucks on and adding to one's cable or satellite bill.

Plus, too often major storylines are 1. over thought and 2. over exposed in largely a 'sameness' presentation on free TV to make them feel special enough for one to want to invest significant money on PPV to see more.

I'm a believer that TV ratings can be achieved without giving away multiple, PPV attractions but only if long term, creative planning is firmly in place. Changing things on the fly and making 11th hour decisions regarding direction, etc will never be a successful formula.

PPV's should generally feature one of two things. if not both, in different, main event level bouts, 1. The 'blow off' of a well told storyline or 2. The first bout of a well set up issue. It gets very tricky when one is trying to get multiple, PPV's out of two talents on successive PPV events. It can be done but it's getting harder and harder or so it seems.

Storylines need to be simplified and made to be more plausibly believable and relatable to the average fan. That allows for the talents to create a discernable, personal issue and create an emotional investment that is required to manufacture success and to warrant spending more PPV dollars.

How some in the business can discount the lack of disposable income for the average Joe to buy monthly PPV's is beyond incredulous to me. Most fans cannot buy 12 PPV's in today's economy...no matter if it be in pro wrestling or MMA.....or both.

Plus, what new talent in the business today is truly "hot?" What new talent(s) provides must see TV and is in a professional ascension? Until someone new gets hot and connects organically with the audience then the shift in the perception of the genre, in general, isn't likely to change any time soon.

Stars sell tickets, it's always been that way, and until company's figure out how to commit to making new stars the business is going to on its current course.
