Toa Maivia vs Dean Ambrose

Combate bastante bom, com Ambrose a mostrar toda a raiva que tem demonstrado de cada vez que pega num microfone e a coloca-la no ringue. Vitória com o Midnight Special para Ambrose na marca dos 12 minutos. (74)

 

Após o combate, Ambrose abandonou rapidamente o ringue deixando Toa no ringue durante bastante tempo até se conseguir levantar. Quando finalmente o conseguiu fazer foi novamente atacado por Ambrose que quase nem o deixou respirar, culminando o ataque com um Piledriver no meio do ringue. (55)

 

Entrevista com os Hardy Boys a dizerem-se apenas meio contentes por Edge & Jericho terem ficado arredados do combate pelo título de tag teams na Royal Rumble, após ter sido anunciado que os Silent Rage terão nova oportunidade. Matt Hardy promete que em breve irão pôr as mãos em Y2J e o seu “inimigo preferido”, Edge. (77)

 

Quando os Hardys se prepararam para sair para o ringue onde Matt irá lutar já a seguir, foram interrompidos por Bobby Lashley e Beast. Lashley avisa os campeões de que Bobby e Beast podem ser lentos a aprender, mas que estão cada vez mais perto de conquistar os títulos de tag team. (81)

Arrancamos pela segunda semana consecutiva com Mr. Kennedy a descer ao ringue para nos falar “um pouco”…

 

Mr.Kennedy: Welcome to 2015! Last week I finally got recognized by an authority figure… as the number one superstar in the world. I don’t care… that I have to start the Royal Rumble at number one. The fact that I’m… the one and only superstar to have his number… announced beforehand also gives me an advantage. Now I know how to prepare for the match. I have to train my cardio… I have to be able to hang, as a great champ used to say… All… Night… Long. And I love to train some cardio *wink*.

 

Mr.Kennedy: Now that I have cooled down… I see that I was in the wrong last week. The Rock wasn’t sc***ing me with his decision he was telling me to sc*** a lot. Thank you Rocky! *clap* *clap* *clap*. He allowed me to plan on how to beat down the other 29 jackasses… so please, The Rock, come on down so I can personally thank you for being such a great friend.

 

I HEAR VOICES IN MY HEAD…

 

Não é The Rock que aí vem, parece que Randy Orton não gostou muito do que acabou de ouvir.

 

Randy Orton: You’re such a fool Ken. Being the number one entrant in the Rumble doesn’t make you the biggest star in the match. It makes you the tiniest of them all. You are the opener, the prize is in that number 30, and everybody knows that.

 

Kennedy: The tiniest? Oh boy, hearing that brings back memories… But you Randy, you must be fun at parties. Especially pajama parties…

 

Kennedy: I would ask you where the fun in entering last is, but I don’t think you know what that word means… I can see by your confused look…

 

Orton: The fun’s in winning, Ken. You asking me that is just ridiculous after everything you said in the past few weeks. You keep cracking jokes about everything and that seems to give you a free pass with these people to tell every inconsistent crap you can think off and they will eat that up.

 

Kennedy: Thank you, you are very kind sometimes. Wanna go out for a coffee one of these days?

 

Orton: I want to shut you up, and I want the number 30 entry in the Royal Rumble match.

 

Kennedy: Well, can do nothing about either of those things. I’m not…

 

 

IF YA SMEEEEELLL WHAT THE ROCK IS COOKIN’

 

The Rock: Cut the music! Cut the music! The Rock was just behind that curtain finalizing today’s show, and just got an idea. The Rock loves that dynamic. The Rock thrived on it, every night in front of THE MILLIONS and Millions of The Rock fans. The serious, cold, calculating dude and the jackass. The Rock used to be that jackass, so don’t take that name personally Mr. Kennedy. No, no, no. The Rock is digressing. The Rock just wanted to give you two a chance to settle your differences, in the ring, later tonight!

 

Kennedy: Hey mister… “I’m so important, I’m the General Manager!” The Rock… Why don’t you make it special? Give the man something to fight for… What about if he beats me, he gets that coveted number 30?

 

The Rock: See, The Rock likes that. Is nice to see you being constructive and adding to the show. Seeing eye to eye with The Rock. It’s settled, tonight, we’ll have Mr. Kennedy versus Randy Orton and if Randy Orton wins he will get the number 30 entry in the Royal Rumble match! IF YA SMEEEEELLLLL… WHAT THE ROCK…

Cody Rhodes vs Jimmy Rave

Arrancamos para o primeiro combate de 2015 com uma das grandes estrelas de 2014, Cody Rhodes, a defrontar o auto proclamado “Savior of Pro Wrestling”. E…que…combate. Apesar de ser um dos primeiros combates do ano, este será certamente um candidato a combate do ano do Monday Night Raw, apesar de ter durado apenas 12 minutos.

Jimmy Rave conseguiu causar muito mais dificuldades do que seria de esperar a Rhodes. O combate foi particularmente técnico desde o início, com os dois a atacarem as pernas um do outro. Rave tentou múltiplas vezes prender o Heel Hook, mas Rhodes escapou-se quase sempre. O final veio quando Rave conseguiu prender o Heel Hook no meio do ringue, mas Rhodes conseguiu livrar-se da manobra e rapidamente prender o Figure Four que Rave não foi capaz de inverter, acabando por desistir. (92)

 

Cody Rhodes: Tonight, there’s a match that could very much impact my immediate future, much more than this match could ever do. Yes, I put my body on the line in this ring… Like I always do when I step foot inside it, but… but that other match could set up a very inconvenient situation for me to get the WWE Championship back on my shoulders. Of course, a triple threat makes it much more difficult for me as I will have to split my focus.

 

Cody Rhodes: But the truth is, guys, John Dalton had my back last week. He held is end of the bargain and he not fail his word. I honestly hope he wins tonight, even if that means making things harder for me. Everyone knows the kid has a tremendous future, he has been stealing shows since he was a teenager, and tonight he can become the youngest WWE Champion in history. And I hope he does. But I also hope that he understands that winning it isn’t the hardest part. So kid, I hope you fulfill your dream, but if you do so, come the Royal Rumble pay per view, I might turn it into a nightmare. (81)

Jeff Hardy vs Chris Jericho

Depois do fantástico combate entre Rhodes e Rave esperava-nos um combate que tinha tido tudo para ser igualmente bom. Infelizmente e para surpresa de algumas pessoas, Y2J e Jeff Hardy não pareceram dar aquele “click” durante o combate, e os 15 minutos provaram ser demasiado longos para o combate que foi. No final, Jericho que esteve em dificuldades na maioria do combate, aproveitou uma distração provocada por uma luta junto ao ringue entre Edge e Matt Hardy para acertar um Low Blow em Jeff e um school boy pin para a vitória. (63)

 

Após o combate, Edge e Jericho escapam-se do ringue rapidamente e festejam de forma provocatória pela rampa acima. (77)

 

 vs. 

Mike DiBiase vs Tito Ortiz

Tito Ortiz voltava a acção pela primeira vez depois da vitória conseguida contra Nigel McGuinness no Armageddon. Mais uma vez o estilo pouco ortodoxo de Ortiz mostrou-se extremamente eficaz no ringue, com o Huntington Beach Bad Boy a vencer por KO na marca dos 6 minutos, com um Superman Punch. (68)

 

Tito Ortiz: When will you learn? By now, you should have learned that you are not on the same level as me, nor Davey’s. You might be good fighters… some might even be great fighters… but we are artists. Knockout artists… Submission artists… This is isn’t your typical catch as catch can. You can’t prepare for a match with us because you have never seen someone like us in this ring. We have promised we would dominate the squared circle, just like I did inside the octagon, and so, today is the day we truly go for that… (74)

Brock Lesnar desceu lentamente a rampa e parou em frente ao ringue a olhar Tito Ortiz antes de saltar directo para o apron. Ao mesmo tempo, Paul Heyman deixava a mesa dos comentadores, colocando-se na berma do ringue.

Lesnar entrou no ringue e deu uma volta ao mesmo quase sempre de olhos fixos em Tito Ortiz e Davey Richards, tendo apenas aberto uma excepção para olhar para Paul Heyman quando passou à sua frente. Finalizada essa volta, Brock parou frente a frente com Ortiz e encostaram as cabeças antes de Lesnar dar um passo atrás e esticar o braço à espera de um sinal de respeito por parte do Huntington Beach Bad Boy que começou por esticar o braço mas a meio caminho parou...

Davey Richards desferiu um soco vindo da direita que acertou em cheio na face de Lesnar que ficou a sangrar levemente do lábio. Lesnar limitou-se a lamber o sangue e mandar um lariat em Richards que voou até aterrar na borda do ringue rebolando para o exterior.

Lesnar virou-se mesmo quando Ortiz vinha em pleno ar com um superman punch… que bloqueou sem problemas. Sem problemas também para levantar Ortiz nos ombros para o F5!

Ortiz agarrou-se a Richards que estava na borda do ringue e conseguiu mesmo libertar-se do susto que sofreu no ringue. (74)

 

Lesnar ficou quieto no meio do ringue, sorridente, enquanto Paul Heyman entrava no ringue de microfone na mão:

 

Paul Heyman: Ladies and Gentlemen, I present you the only man to conquer both the WWE ring and the UFC Octagon. The only WWE World Heavyweight Champion and UFC World Heavyweight Champion in the History of both sports, BROCK LESNAR.

 

Heyman: Now, you might ask: What is BROCK LESNAR doing back in a WWE ring? You see Brock and I… we are good friends, so you can imagine, a couple of weeks ago when I myself came back to the WWE, Brock was watching the show… And then he saw the crap Tito Ortiz was spouting about dominating the UFC and dominating WWE and that made Brock Lesnar curious. Curious enough that at the end of the night he called me and he asked… No, you tell them what you asked me.

 

Lesnar: Who’s that bleached idiot and who’s the skinny little b*tch he accompanies to the ring?

 

Heyman demorou um par de segundos a recuperar a compostura depois de ouvir o relato de Lesnar.

 

Heyman: Perfect recolection. That’s exactly how you inquired me. And if you remember it right, I answered you that the bleached idiot was UFC Hall of Famer Tito Ortiz and his scrawny partner was the “undefeated”, Davey Richards.

 

Lesnar anuiu com a cabeça.

 

Heyman: So, and here comes the important bit, Brock asked me why Mr. Ortiz was talking as if there wasn’t already someone who did exactly what he was promising to do, and I told him that he had been away for so long, that the WWE fans seemed to have forgotten about it… and so… he told me that Maybe it was time for Brock Lesnar to come back to the WWE… Maybe it was time for BROCK LESNAR to Reconquer the WWE ring! Maybe it was time to show Tito Ortiz and Davey Richards who Brock Lesnar. So, Mr. Ortiz, let me give you the heads-up. Here comes the Pain! (77)

CM Punk vs Joe Hennig

Voltamos ao ringue para um combate entre dois participantes já confirmados para o combate Royal Rumble. O combate foi excelente, com os dois lutadores a encaixarem perfeitamente e a terem tempo para mostrarem do que são capazes dentro do ringue. Joe Hennig acertou um Perfect Plex mesmo em cima da marca dos 10 minutos mas apenas conseguiu uma near fall. Pouco depois foi a vez de Punk conseguir um GTS mas Hennig conseguiu colocar uma mão na corda para quebrar a contagem nos últimos instantes. Foi apenas em cima dos 14 que o combate se decidiu quando Punk conseguiu contrariar uma tentativa de Perfect Plex com o Ura-nage que usou para prender o Anaconda Vice. Hennig bem tentou mas não teve mais nada a fazer, senão desistir. (82)

 

CM Punk: Can you hear the countdown? The clock closing in as the Royal Rumble match approaches? As I and 29 other men enter that ring, one at a time and leave it all in the ring to never leave it, the TEN! NINE! EIGHT!

 

*SEVEN* *SIX* *FIVE* *FOUR* *THREE* *TWO* *ONE*

 

CM Punk: You got it… you goddamn got it. But you want to know something else? The countdown doesn’t start at ten. For me at least, the countdown doesn’t start at ten, it started long ago. It started at Summerslam. It started the night I completely undermined everything I’ve been working for, for the past decade. It started the moment that I tapped out to that Figure Four. Every year I’ve been this close of the brass ring, but I have never been fully able to grab it. And for years I focused on how everyone else was holding me down, but that moment… that moment where my pride got the best of me at Summerslam was the moment I realized that I… I just can’t wait another year in hope things change… that I fulfill all the potential I always felt I had.

 

CM Punk: I can’t wait for others to change the circumstances for me. I had to think of all the things I was doing wrong, and that is what I have been doing ever since. I knew I had to beat Triple H fair and square and I did that… I knew I had to get my hands on who wronged me before and I did… And I knew that if I wanted to get to the top of the mountain I had to climb it, the hard way. I couldn’t just wait for the opportunity to come to me. I have to do it the hard way. By winning the hardest match the WWE has to offer. The one time in the WWE Calendar where 30 men, thirsty for gold fight to exhaustion for that moment.

 

CM Punk: At the end of the day, what I want you to know is that, while everybody wants to get to the end of the night to point to that sign, I don’t care about the signs, it is not about the road… there is only one road for me… it is not about the hype, I’ve hyped so many “perfect opportunities” before only to fail… it is all about the destination, and I’m declaring right here, right now, that I will get to that main-event or I will die trying. (76)

Paul London vs. Sterling James Keenan

Uma semana após o seu regresso-surpresa, Paul London tinha que defrontar alguém faminto de oportunidades. London acabou por vencer novamente com o London Calling em cima da marca dos 8 minutos. (68)

 

Após o combate, Jay Lethal e Kofi Kingston apareceram de debaixo do ringue e começaram a atacar London que ainda se tentou defender por alguns instantes, mas tendo sido apanhado de surpresa não teve grandes chances. A sua sorte foi que da rampa a correr apareceu Mistico que saltou directamente para o ringue e aterrou de pé, pronto para atacar e isso assustou o suficiente Kingston e Lethal que de imediato evacuaram o ringue e bateram em retirada. (70)

 

 

 

 vs. 

Ken Kennedy vs Randy Orton

Chegamos ao penúltimo combate da noite, que podia muito bem ser o main-event de qualquer PPV, mas que neste primeiro show do ano, super recheado nem fecha o Monday Night Raw.

O combate foi equilibrado e bem longo, para uma noite que já ia longa. Orton dominou numa fase inicial, mantendo a contenda como gosta, lenta e controlada. Foi necessário que Orton se precipitasse para que o combate ganhasse algum ritmo. Orton achou que tinha o combate no bolso e foi para o RKO, mas Kennedy empurrou-o para as cordas e Orton saiu a voar para o exterior do ringue, mesmo a tempo de um intervalo. Quando voltámos, Kennedy estava já a atacar Randy no ringue com vários socos e a atirar Orton contra as cordas, contra os cantos do ringue e a fazer um par de vertical suplexes de tirar a respiração (a Orton). Em cima da marca dos 15 minutos, eis que Kennedy foi às cordas para o Kenton Bomb mas Orton desviou-se… RKO! 1… 2… Não! Kennedy conseguiu escapar no último minuto!

Orton preparou uma joelhada em Kennedy, mas Kennedy fugiu para fora do ringue. Os dois ali ficaram mais um pouco, até que Kennedy voltou ao ringue, Orton foi atrás, Kennedy tentou um mic check, mas conforme Kennedy pôs o adversário em posição, Orton decidiu ajustar-lhe outras coisas com um low blow descarado com o pé esquerdo! O árbitro não teve outra hipótese que não desqualificar Randy Orton ali mesmo e atribuir a “vitória” a Ken Kennedy. Orton saiu com um sorriso do ringue, apesar de ter perdido a chance de entrar com o número 30 na Royal Rumble. (82)

 

Temos finalmente o Main-Event desta noite próximo, e por isso passamos para Michael Cole nos bastidores, para uma entrevista com um dos competidores envolvidos:

 

Cole: Ladies and gentlemen, with me at this time, the number one contender for the WWE Championship, “The Authentic” John Dalton. John, as one of the youngest members of the WWE roster, some have expressed their doubts on whether you are “too green” for this stage. Do you feel like in any way that feeling is justified?

 

Dalton: I’ll give you the authentic answer. Yes, it is justified… It is justified for those “old school” guys who cannot understand innovation. Look at the expression “old school”… it means an antiquated train of thought. I’m new school… I’m THE new school.

 

Cole: Well, but experience has always been really important in matches like these.

 

Dalton: Yes, but I heard the same before the Elimination Chamber match, and yet, I single handily eliminated the WWE Champion and got this close to becoming WWE Champion myself.

 

Cole: But one could argue that you lost to King Carlito exactly because of your lack of experience.

 

Dalton: I lost because I was in a chaotic match, under chaotic conditions. Tonight it will be different. Tonight we are in my home environment, inside that squared circle, and I know exactly what to expect from this match. The same can’t be said from my opponent, who by the end of the match won’t know what hit him before hearing that hand drop for the third time and the bell ringing. Now, if you excuse me, I have a record to break. (80)

 

WWE Championship Match

 vs. 

John Dalton vs King Carlito ©

Como seria de esperar o combate foi muito bom, com acção ininterrupta por mais de 20 minutos. Dalton dominou a grande maioria do combate, sendo que a presença de Eduardo e Orlando Colon na berma do ringue foi tendo uma importância crescente no decorrer do combate.

O combate começou com Carlito a tentar escapar do ringue, mas a ser agarrado pelo afro. Dalton atirou o rei ao chão e deu-lhe vários pontapés antes de ir pela primeira vez às cordas, para já à segunda corda, que Eduardo prontamente puxou fazendo-o cair. Carlito rolou para fora do ringue e tentou aproveitar, mas Dalton foi rápido a recuperar, com um kip-up levantou-se e rapidamente rasteirou o campeão. Dalton levou Carlito para o ringue onde durante mais de cinco minutos controlou completamente Carlito.  

Uma distracção de Orlando permitiu a Carlito começar a encaixar algumas manobras ofensivas e a começar a criar problemas a Dalton, que mesmo assim foi sempre sendo capaz de evitar todas as tentativas de Carlito de acertar as suas principais manobras. Foi preciso chegar à marca dos 15 minutos para as coisas aquecerem a sério. Dalton conseguiu acertar um springboard dropkick que deixou Carlito espalhado ao comprido no meio do ringue. Dalton não perdeu tempo e subiu à corda superior para o Moonsault, mas Eduardo e Orlando abanaram as cordas para o fazerem cair. O árbitro viu e tratou de expulsar os dois da zona do ringue, mas isto causou tumulto suficiente para que Carlito desse uma dentada na sua real maçã e cuspisse na cara de Dalton que estava distraído. Royalstabber! 1…2… Não

Dalton conseguiu espantar meio mundo e evitar a derrota após o Royalstabber e levantar-se mais uma vez com um kip up e começar a acertar dropkicks sucessivos ao campeão até que Carlito ficou no chão. Foi então hora de aquecer o pé para o Superkick… Não, Carlito evita e quase acerta o Royalstabber novamente, mas Dalton consegue agarrar-se às cordas. Carlito foi à corda contrária e tentou o Springboard Back Elbou mas Dalton baixou-se no momento exacto, rolando em sentido contrário… SPIKE DDT! Dalton foi mais uma vez às cordas… MOONSAULT! Cover!

 

 

1…2…3!

 

 

Não! Carlito tinha a mão na corda! O combate continua!

 

Dalton levantou o King of the Ring e foi para o Superkick! Rollup! 1…2…3! CARLITO ROUBOU ESTA! CARLITO TINHA OS PÉS NAS CORDAS! COMO É QUE O ARBITRO NÃO VIU!?
