Vic Joseph: Good evening everyone, and welcome to Monday Night Raw. We’re live from Smoothie King Center, in New Orleans, Louisiana, and we have a great show planned for you tonight. 

Aiden English: That’s right, we were promised at least 5 matches for tonight. Apollo Crews will face Ali, who is debuting on Monday Night Raw after being drafter from SmackDown. We have the semi-finals of the tournament to determine the 1# contender for Sami Zayn’s Intercontinental title at Battleground, with Daniel Bryan vs Shelton Benjamin and Aleister Black vs Roderick Strong. The Street Profits will fight Lucha House Party, and the winner will face The Geniuses at Battleground for  the Raw Tag Team titles. Last but not least, we have a 9-Women Battle Royal to determine who will face Becky Lynch for the Raw Women’s title at Battleground. 

Byron Saxton: Also, don’t forget, Edge is here tonight, and he said he has something to say to the Undisputed Era. 

Vic Joseph: But for now, the Intercontinental champion Sami Zayn, Cesaro and Nakamura are in the ringue. 

 

Sami: Ladies and gentleman, last week Cesaro came soooo close to become the new WWE champion, and you better listen Drew, the next time, you won’t  be walking out as champion. But we’re here to address something else, something that is very personal for me, because it’s related to someone I used to be really close to, Kevin Owens. Kevin, please, come to the ringue. 

Após alguns segundos, toca a música de Owens, e este vem até ao ringue. 

Kevin Owens: What do you want, Sami? 

Sami: I was just wondering Kevin, what happened to you? You came back last week, you had a match, you lost, and you shook your opponent’s hand? What the heel is this? Who are you? Where is the real Kevin Owens? Where is that vicious guy that wouldn’t take crap from anyone? The guy who beated John Cena on his first night here? That guy would never be shaking hands with an opponent, especially when it’s someone who could even be the one who  attacked you? You admitted that you thought of that, it may have been EC3, it may have been Samoa Joe or Ricochet, or even anyone else. The point is that the real Kevin Owens would be beating everyone until he find out who attacked him.

EC3: I’m getting really tired of people pointing at me and accusing me of things that I didn’t do. I earned my spot at Money in the Bank, and for the last two months I’ve been earning my place here, just like I did last week when I beated you, Kevin. And Sami, if you don’t shut up, I’ll do the same to you, in fact, I think that title would look great on my shoulder. 

Sami: Keep dreaming, I’m already scheduled to defend my title at Battleground, I will not do it tonight. But you Kevin, why don’t you answer my question? Where is the real Kevin Owens? 

Kevin não responde, simplesmente vira as costas e sai do ringue, passa por EC3 sem lhe ligar nenhuma e segue para o backstage.

 

Vemos a Undisputed Era a chegar ao edifício, e Charly Caruso a aproximar-se deles. 

Charly: Guys, you have a lot going on tonight. Edge said he wants to talk to you, the entire locker room is unhappy because you  injured Ricochet and Rey Mysterio, and you Roderick, have a match against Aleister Black. 

Adam Cole: Edge and the rest of the guys can say whatever they want, but we will keep doing whatever we want and we’ll keep running over whoever gets on our way. 

Roderick Strong: As for Aleister Black, he doesn’t stand a chance tonight. I’m going to beat him, next week I’ll win this tournament and in three weeks, at Battleground, I will become the new Intercontinental Champion. 

Kyle O’Reilly: Everyone should know by now, we run this place. 

Bobby Fish: And that Charly, is undisputed. 

 

Voltamos ao ringue para o primeiro combate da noite. 

Ali vs Apollo Crews

Ali chega ao Raw a querer causar impacto, começa o combate e os dois prendem-se em lock up, como Crews é mais forte consegue empurrar Ali, que sorri perante a adversidade. Ali continua a tentar, até que consegue usar a força de Crews a seu favor e aplica um pop-up dropkick, Crews desliza para fora do ringue, e Ali não perde tempo e acerta um suicide dive. Ali mete Crews no ringue e sobe ao canto, tenta o 450 splash para uma vitória rápida mas Crews levanta os joelhos. O combate segue por mais alguns minutos, e Crews quase consegue a vitória após um delayed vertical suplex. Segue o combate, e com cerca de 15 minutos, Crews aplica um fallaway samoan drop mas Ali consegue reverter e aterra de pé, acertando um superkick em Crews quando este se vira. Crews continua de pé, Ali corre na direção do canto e aplica um rebound tornado DDT, Crews está no chão, Ali sobe ao canto, e consegue acertar o 054 splash, 1,2...3 Ali consegue a vitória na sua estreia. 

 

Acaba o combate, enquanto Ali festeja, Crews vai-se levantando. Já de pé, Ali está de costas para Crews, que está a olhar para ele. Ali vira-se para Crews, olham um para o outro, e Crews estica-lhe a mão. Apertam as mãos em sinal de respeito e abandonam o ringue. 

 

Byron Saxton: That was a great match, welcome to Monday Night Raw, Ali. 

Vic Joseph: And we just got word of what our main event for tonight will be. 

 

Vic Joseph: But back to the ringue, we have a match that will determine the number one contenders for the Raw Tag Team titles. 

 

Street Profits vs Lucha House Party

Montez começa o combate com Gran Metalik, e consegue rapidamente um arm drag, seguido de um spinal kick e um basement dropkick. Tenta o pin para uma vitória rápida mas Gran Metalik safa-se. Segue o combate e graças à sua agilidade Gran Metalik consegue acertar alguns golpes, como o wheelbarrow arm drag seguido de um slingblade, faz o tag com Kalisto que sobe ao canto e salta para um frog splash, mas Montez consegue levantar os joelhos. Segue o combate, até Montez conseguir o tag com Dawkins que entra em ringue com um shoulder tackle em Kalisto, e aplica um big splash, tenta o pin mas Kalisto consegue se safar. O combate continua por alguns minutos, Kalisto tenta um roll up mas Dawkins safa-se e Kalisto acerta um Listo kick. Kalisto tenta depois um crossbody, mas Dawkins apanha-o no ar e aplica um exploder suplex. Os dois tentam chegar ao tag, e conseguem ao mesmo tempo, Montez Ford entra em ringue com um jumping Lariat em Gran Metalik, Metalik levanta-se e vai virado a ele mas sofre um pop-up cutter, 1,2... Metalik safa-se. Montez encosta Metalik no seu canto, faz o tag com Dawkins, este aplica o NBA Slam e neste momento Montez faz de novo o tag, Dawkins aplica ainda um bulldog, enquanto Montez sobe ao seu canto. Kalisto usa a corda superior e tenta um springboard crossbody em Dawkins mas este apanha-o e acerta um suplex, enquanto Montez salta para um frog splash, 1,2...3 os Street Profits vão lutar pelos Raw Tag Team titles na próxima semana.

 

Intervalo 

 

Aleister Black vs Roderick Strong 

vs

Começa o combate com Aleister ao ataque, e logo nos primeiros minutos consegue um blackout rush combo. Roderick vai-se mantendo no combate, e aqui e ali consegue alguns backbreakers. Com 12 minutos de combate, Aleister acerta um roundhouse kick, imediatamente seguido de um bridging german suplex, 1,2... Roderick safa-se. Segue o combate por mais alguns minutos, mas o inesperado acontece, quando Aleister acerta um springboard moonsault press, mas o árbitro estava muito próximo de Roderick e acabou por ser também atingido e derrubado. Aleister fica atento, caso a Undisputed Era decida aparecer, mas Roderick vai-se levantado, e os dois continuam a lutar, até que de repente, é Shinsuke Nakamura que aparece no ringue, o homem que Aleister venceu na fase anterior, e acerta um low blow em Aleister, e foge rapidamente do ringue. Roderick aproveita e agarra em Aleister, aplicando o end of heartache. Roderick chama o árbitro, vai para o pin, 1,2...3 e consegue a vitória, Roderick está na final do torneio. 

 

E seguimos desde já para o outro combate das semi-finais do torneio, tanto que a música de Daniel Bryan começa a tocar enquanto Roderick Strong ainda está a festejar, o que não o deixa muito satisfeito. 

 

Daniel Bryan vs Shelton Benjamin 

vs

Começa o combate e Shelton tenta acertar um superkick, mas Daniel Bryan apanha-lhe a perna e aplica um dragon screw. Bryan continua o ataque com o multiple stomps, e prende um romero special para desgastar Shelton. O combate segue, e eventualmente Shelton consegue equilibrar quando apanha Bryan com um spinebuster. Shelton levanta Bryan e aplica um butterfly suplex, vai para o pin, 1,2...Bryan safa-se. Segue o combate com algumas tentativas de pin de parte a parte, e com cerca de 15 minutos, Shelton tenta aplicar um bulldog, mas Bryan empurra-o e vai virado a ele, e consegue um                                 tilt-a-whirl facebuster. Bryan segue ao ataque com os yes kicks, e prepara-se para o golpe final, a crowd vai gritando “yes,yes,yes”, e Bryan lança-se para o running knee, mas Shelton consegue-se desviar e aplica o paydirt. Vitória inesperada a caminho para Shelton, 1,2... Bryan consegue escapar no último momento, Shelton não acredita. Ele levanta Bryan e dá-lhe uma chapada, e outra, e outra e isto só enfurece Bryan, à quarta chapada Bryan responde com uma chest chop, e mais uma, e outra, e um pontapé, e outro, até Shelton cair de joelhos, e Bryan volta a acertar os Yes kicks, e quando Shelton se levanta, desta vez Bryan não falha, e acerta em cheio o running knee, 1,2...3 Daniel Bryan avança para a final. 

 

Bryan celebra no ringue, e a ele junta-se Drew Gulak, orgulhoso pela vitória do amigo. Na próxima semana teremos a final do torneio. 

 

 

No ecrã, mostram um vídeo dos ataques da semana passada da Undisputed Era a Ricochet e a Rey Mysterio, e mostram também o tweet de Paul Wight a informar que estão ambos lesionados e portanto não estão hoje presentes. 

 

Passamos ao backstage com Shelton Benjamin a chegar com cara de poucos amigos, e encontra Apollo Crews. 

Apollo: Looks like things didn’t go your way this time, apparently cheating is not always the answer. 

Shelton: Don’t mess with me, kid. When you’re facing someone like Daniel Bryan, yes, no matter what you do it may not be enough, and I’m pissed for losing that match. But I’m more embarassed for you. I got you a match, and you lost, and on top of that you shook hands with the guy that beated you? Do you think that’s how you’ll take your career to the next level? All that conversation about locker room respect is inspiring, but it’s  bullshit, you don’t earn respect by shaking hands, you earn it by winning matches. In fact, I’m going to find the GM and ask for a match next week, and I’ll show you how to win a match. 

 

Voltamos ao ringue, com Aiden English pronto para uma entrevista. 

Aiden: At this time, I’d like you all to help me welcoming someone who is very special to me. He’s going through a bad time, both professionaly as personally, but I know that he has what it takes to get back on track. Ladies and gentleman, please welcome, Rusev.

Rusev vem até ao ringue, da mesma forma que tem estado nas últimas semanas, distante e triste. 

Aiden: Thank you for coming here, Rusev. You and I had our ups and downs in the past, you know that. Most of the time that we spent together was  probably the best time of both our careers, we were loved by everyone and today it remains a mystery on why we didn’t had more opportunities to get to the top. But then... Lana came along. And I’m not making any excuses, I know I didn’t act well, and I did things that I shouldn’t have done, and I never got to apologize to you properly. So Rusev, I’m telling you now, I’m sorry. I didn’t want Lana hanging around with us, because I knew that sooner or later she would just want to steal your spotlight. And even  though I didn’t act the right way, now you see I was right, look at what happened, she only thinks about herself and doesn’t care for you at all.  

Rusev: I don’t want to talk about Lana. 

Aiden: Then let’s not talk about her, Rusev. Let’s talk about the future, because I care for you. Till this day, I consider you my friend, and I want to help you to get to the same place you were a few years ago, or even higher than that. I want to bring back... Rusev Day! 

A crowd reage, mostrando o seu entusiasmo perante esta ideia.  

Aiden: Think about it Rusev, you and me, together again. We could do everything, especially now that we have great management,  Rusev Day has World Champion written all over it. You deserve to be the face of WWE, let me help you get there. 

A crowd grita “yes, yes, yes”, encorajados por Aiden, mas Rusev pouco reage.  

Aiden: What do you say, Rusev? 

Rusev pensa, mas parece que está mesmo indeciso sobre o que fazer em relação à sua vida e à sua carreira, e sem dizer nada, acaba por sair do ringue, deixando Aiden e o WWE Universe desapontados.  

Já depois de Rusev sair de cena, toca a música de Jinder Mahal, que vem ao ringue acompanhado pelos Singh Brothers. 

Jinder: Aiden, please leave the ringue, I have something I need to take care. 

Aiden regressa à mesa dos comentadores. 

Jinder: Chad Gable, I need to talk to you, I promise, I came in peace.

Jinder: Chad, we’ve been fighting each other for over a month. I’m here to officially ask for truce, so we can both move on. 

Gable: That’s fine by me, Jinder. But I have to ask, are you asking for truce because you really want to move on to other challenges, or is it because after a month, you realized that no matter what you do, you just can’t beat me? 

Jinder: No matter what I do? It’s funny that you mention that right now... look behind you. 

Gable vira-se para trás, e vê uma verdadeira montanha... é Great Khali!!! Este imediatamente acerta-lhe com um brain chop que o derruba. Khali aplica então o Vise Grip, enquanto Jinder e os Singh Brothers se riem no ringue, e com a assustadora imagem de Khali a apertar o crânio de Chad Gable, seguimos para intervalo.

 

Theme do Edge 

Edge: I know that during my career I wasn’t always a good guy, I did my share of bad things. But I learned with it, and I know that the most important thing we have in this business is respect, and  you don’t earn it by being a coward. I came back to help to elevate the next generation of superstars, to help them to get to the same level I did. And I saw something on Ricochet, something special, he does things on this ringue that no one else can, and that’s why I want to have a match with him. But then, the Undisputed Era came along, and they took out Ricochet. He said he will be good to go at Battleground, but I have some things to say anyway. So  Adam, Roderick, Kyle and Bobby, join me in the ringue.

Apenas Adam Cole aparece, e junta-se a Edge no ringue. 

Adam Cole: Here I am, what do you wanna say? 

Edge: Where are your friends? Will they attack me from behind too? Will this be another 3 on 1 or 4 on 1 cowardly attack like you did  on Ricochet and on Rey? Adam, you are one of the guys I want to fight before I retire, because of your habillity and what you can do in this ringue, but if you keep doing things like last week, you’re not getting any respect, no matter how talented you are. 

Adam Cole: Respect? Do you think this is about respect? No Edge, it isn’t. This is about making an impact, this is about winning, that’s how you getting the so-called respect. Go to NXT and ask them about me and about the Undisputed Era, see if they respect us or not. And here on Raw, when the day comes that  the Undisputed Era has all the titles, everyone will respect us, whether you want it or not. And you’re right on something, you and I will fight before you retire, but I’ll tell you more than that, I will be the one who retires you once and for all, and when that day comes, when you get to step in the ringue to have a match with me, I want you to remember this day. And I want you to remember that I could’ve come here with Roderick, Kyle and Bobby, and we  could’ve give you the beating of a lifetime, but I choosed not to. So you better remember, that it doesn’t matter if your career goes on  for another 2 months or 2 years, from now on, you owe it to me, because I choosed to not put you to forced retirement today. 

Adam Cole abandona o ringue. 

 

Byron Saxton: Things are really getting heated between Edge and Adam Cole. 

Vic Joseph: And now it is time to find out who will face Becky Lynch for the Raw Women’s title at Battleground. 

 

9-Women Battle Royal – Shayna Baszler vs Naomi vs Bayley vs Nia Jax vs Peyton Royce vs Ruby Riott vs Mandy Rose vs Sarah Logan vs Billie Kay

Toca a campaínha e Bayley começa a gritar no meio do ringue “THIS IS UNFAIR, I WANT JUSTICE FOR BAYLEY”. Isto faz com que todas as outras a ataquem, e com poucos segundos de combate, Shayna Baszler atira Bayley por cima da corda e                 elimina-a. Shayna fica a rir-se para Bayley, o que permite a Naomi chegar por trás dela e eliminá-la. Shayna e Bayley estão furiosas, mas o que é certo é que duas das favoritas foram as primeiras a serem eliminadas. O combate segue com as IIconics a    atirarem-se a Ruby Riott e Sarah Logan, enquanto Naomi e Mandy Rose se unem contra Nia Jax. Nia consegue usar a sua força para afastar Mandy e Naomi, e acaba por conseguir eliminar Mandy Rose. Enquanto isso, Ruby e Logan atiraram Peyton Royce contra o poste, e estão a tentar eliminar Billie Kay. Billie oferece resistência e luta para se manter em combate, mas 2 vs 1 mostra-se demasiado e ela é mesmo eliminada.  

Sobram Ruby Riott, Sarah Logan, Naomi, Nia Jax e Peyton Royce.  

Naomi consegue aplicar o rear view em Nia Jax, e rapidamente é atacada por Ruby e Logan, que a tentam fazer passar por cima da corda superior, mas Naomi consegue-se agarrar às cordas. Entretanto Peyton regressa com uma joelhada nas costas de Sarah Logan, e agarra em Ruby Riott atirando-a por cima da corda superior, Ruby consegue manter-se na apron enquanto trocam socos, Sarah Logan já se levantou, tenta atacar Peyton Royce pelas costas com um big boot mas esta desvia-se e Logan acaba por inadvertidamente eliminar Ruby Riott. Logan fica bastante enervada pelo erro que cometeu e corre logo virada a Peyton Royce, que se baixa e puxa a corda, fazendo Logan passar por cima e ser também eliminada.  

Sobram em combate Peyton Royce, Naomi e Nia Jax. 

Peyton e Naomi decidem atacar Nia Jax, com Naomi a conseguir acertar um enziguri, elas tentam fazer Nia passar por cima da corda superior, mas sem sucesso. Naomi e Peyton viram-se então uma para a outra, trocando vários murros no centro do ringue, enquanto se aproximam das cordas. Nia Jax levanta-se, e aplica uma double clothesline, Peyton e Naomi passam por cima da corda superior e ficam na apron, Nia corre na direção delas, Peyton consegue baixar-se mas Naomi não, e é atropelada por Nia, caindo ao chão e sendo eliminada. Imediatamente Peyton acerta um roundhouse kick em Nia que fica atordoada, mas Peyton ainda está na apron, e antes que consiga regressar ao ringue, aparecem Ruby Riott e Sarah Logan que puxam Peyton para fora do ringue.  

A campaínha toca e Nia é declarada a vencedora do combate, e celebra no ringue, Ruby e Logan juntam-se a ela, parece que as 3 têm uma aliança. Enquanto isso, Billie Kay volta para confortar Peyton Royce, que está desconsolada. 

 

Passamos ao escritório do General Manager, Paul Wight, onde chega Shelton Benjamin. 

Shelton: Hey Paul, I want a match next week. 

Paul Wight: Well let’s see, for now, I only booked two matches for next week, the finals of the tournament between Daniel Bryan and Roderick Strong, and a Raw Tag Team Championship match  between The Geniuses and The Street Profits, so there’s certainly time for you to have a match. Let’s see... how about you face Rusev? 

Shelton: That’s great, he has a victory over me on a triple-threat 2 months ago, so I’m gonna right that wrong. 

 

E voltamos ao ringue. 

Theme do Drew McIntyre 

Drew: Seth Rollins, Bobby Lashley, Cesaro, I've beat them all... and now, it seems like Randy Orton wants to be the next in line. What he doesn’t know is that he’s not getting in line to take this title away from me, he’s just in line to get kicked in the face. 

No ecrã aparece Randy Orton, a falar a partir de sua casa. 

Orton: You’re wrong Drew, I’m not getting in line to be kicked in the face, I’m getting YOU in line for another RKO, but the next one will be during a match for that WWE title. I’m not like Rollins, Lashley or Cesaro, and I’m certainly not like Samoa Joe, when I see an opportunity, I take it. 

Desliga a chamada.

Samoa Joe fala na rampa. 

Samoa Joe: Drew, I told you that I would be around so you don’t get caught off guard when I cash in. The reason why I didn’t cash in last week, is because I remember that when Rollins and his crew tried to end my career, you were the one who helped me. But now we’re even Drew, and I will continue to be around, and sooner or later I will become the new WWE Champion. 

Samoa Joe vai-se embora. 

Drew: Well, it seems that I’ll have a lot of faces to kick soon. 

Drew abandona o ringue. 

 

Vic Joseph: And now it’s time for our main event, EC3 will face the Intercontinental champion Sami Zayn. 

Aiden: EC3 wasn’t happy when Sami Zayn said he might have been the one who attacked Kevin Owens before Money in the Bank, so Paul Wight booked this non-title match so they can settle their differences. 

EC3 vs Sami Zayn

Arranca o combate com EC3 bastante agressivo e Sami confiante (provavelmente devido a ter o apoio de Cesaro e Nakamura no ringside). Durante alguns minutos o combate é muito equilibrado, mas EC3 consegue alguma vantagem quando consegue um deadlift vertical suplex, ele tenta o pin mas Sami safa-se ao 2. O combate segue com EC3 ao ataque, com manobras como o lariat e o leaping snapmare facebuster. EC3 agarra em Sami para um TK3, mas está demasiado perto das cordas, e Cesaro sobe à apron, e puxa a perna de Sami para impedir EC3 de aplicar o seu finisher. Sami repensa a estratégia fora do ringue com Cesaro e Nakamura e acaba por conseguir o controlo do combate. Segue por mais alguns minutos, e Sami consegue acertar um rolling arm drag seguido do calf kick, 1,2...EC3 safa-se. Sami continua ao ataque e encosta EC3 a um canto, corre para ele para acerta o helluva kick mas este desvia-se, EC3 agarra Sami pelas costas e aplica um german suplex, volta a agarrar nele e aplica um enorme sit-out powerbomb, 1,2... Sami consegue escapar. EC3 quer continuar o ataque, volta a agarrar em Sami, senta-o no topo do canto e também ele sobe, vai aplicar um superplex mas Sami começa a dar-lhe cotoveladas até que EC3 cai no ringue, Sami espera que ele se levanta e lança-se para um diving crossbody, seguido de um michinoku driver, 1,2...EC3 escapa ao 2,9999. Sami não perde tempo, encosta EC3 num dos cantos, corre para ele e consegue acertar o helluva kick, 1,2...3 Sami Zayn consegue a vitória.

 

No fim do combate, Cesaro e Nakamura entram no ringue, e Nakamura traz uma cadeira, que entrega a Sami. Os dois seguram em EC3, e parece que Sami lhe vai dar uma cadeirada, tal como fez a Cedric Alexander no mês passado, mas eis que... 

Theme do Kevin Owens 

Owens corre na direção do ringue, também ele com uma cadeira na mão, entra no ringue, fica frente a frente com Sami Zayn, ambos de cadeira na mão, apenas a olhar um para o outro. Cesaro e Nakamura largam EC3, e parecem dispostos a atacar Kevin Owens, mas Sami diz lhes para não o fazerem, e os três abandonam o ringue. O show acaba com EC3 a levantar-se e a agradecer a Kevin Owens. 

 

[Ruas]

Não tava à espera que o Roderick ganhasse. Mas mega combate para a semana que vem contra o Bryan.

Sabia que era uma decisão que não ia agradar, mas é uma rivalidade que tem que ser feita, parecendo que não, se não fosse a Nia ter partido o nariz à Becky, ela nunca teria estado no main event da Wrestlemania. Tendo em conta que a Becky já só vai defender o título no Battleground, se perder aí, terá sido um reinado de 448 dias.

Inicialmente era para ser main event, até porque estava na dúvida em "dar" já um main event ao EC3, mas achei que era importante para o elevar colocá-lo nesse spot, e tendo em conta que o final da battle royal foi o que foi, não quis estar a fechar o show dessa forma.

Todas essas tags que referiste não foram one time thing, tinham uma storyline agarrada. Fazer tag só porque sim não é muito o estilo dele.

Mas não foi decisão dele, o GM é que decidiu dar um de Teddy Long e pegar em duas storylines e marcar um combate de tag team. O Orton até pode não querer andar metido em tag teams, mas assim tem a hipótese de dar na boca ao campeão e ainda vingar se do Edge.
