Fui sempre dos primeiros a defender que não devia haver comunicações nas provas, pelos menos nos escalões mais jovens, e como hoje se viu, houve muito mais espectáculo, chegamos ao últimos metros sem saber que ia ganhar, numa corrida repleta de ataques e contra-ataques. Voltamos ao verdadeiro ciclismo puro e duro, se à fuga...não existe o tempo de fuga sob controle, têm que dar das pernas e manter a vigia ao fugitivo.

 

Péssima cobertura televisiva, fizeram a prova com quatro ou cinco câmaras, duas delas fixas.

Ja agora ele tava no pelotão a meio da penultima volta e atacou e a realização n mostrou para mostrar o martin que acho que nem top 10 ficou a realização da volta a PT e muito melhor!

Schleck investigated as Fuentes customer

Schleck wore yellow on the Alpe d'Huez stage this summer

 

Fränk Schleck of CSC-Saxo Bank was reportedly "unmasked" Friday as a customer of Eufemiano Fuentes, the doctor whose Madrid clinic was raided by Spanish police in 2006 as part of Operación Puerto. The German newspaper Süddeutsche Zeitung reported that investigators have evidence of nearly seven thousand Euro being wired to Fuentes' Swiss bank account in March 2006. The Luxembourg Attorney General Robert Belver confirmed the existence of the payment.

 

"Yes, there is this payment of about 7000 Euro to Mr. Fuentes. I have received copies of the bank documents from Germany," Biever told the SZ. "Several weeks ago I sent these documents concerning Schleck to the Luxembourg Anti-doping Agency."

 

The documents were uncovered by the German Bundeskriminalamt (federal police), which confirmed the matter. "Luxembourg is responsible, that's why we sent them the papers," press spokeswoman Anke Spriesterbach told the newspaper.

 

In addition, the newspaper says that it has seen witness statements claiming that Schleck and CSC manager Bjarne Riis visited Fuentes in Madrid as early as December 2005.

 

The newspaper further stated that research shows that Schleck is the one identified with the name "Amigo di Birillo". Birillo has been identified as Ivan Basso, Schleck's friend and former teammate, who confessed his involvement with the Spanish doctor last year.

 

On Friday, Schleck told the SZ, "I have not doped." But he confirmed that he had an appointment with the Luxembourg Anti-doping Committee. "Of course I will take the time to clear this situation up."

 

Riis told the newspaper, "Frank confirmed to me that he hadn't done anything wrong. hasn't violated any anti-doping rules."

 

Schleck is currently in Varese for the World Championship road race on Sunday.

The Mont Ventoux to be 2009 Tour penultimate stage

 

Before the announcement of the whole route of the 2009 Tour de France on October 22 in Paris, it became known that the Mont Ventoux will be back on the course after seven years of absence. The information was broken by Claude Haut, the president of the Vaucluse province.

 

The big news is about the day that the riders will have to climb the "Giant of Provence" – it will be on the second last day of the race, in July 25, prior to transferring to Paris for the traditional parade on the Champs-Élysées. Contrary to previous rumours, it will not be an uphill time trial but a normal stage starting in Montélimar. It means the course will go via Bédoin for the 21.6km grueling climb.

 

This is a typical choice by race director Christian Prudhomme who wants the suspense to be carried until the very end, but it was made before Lance Armstrong’s come back announcement. During his years racing the Tour de France and the Dauphiné, the Texan never liked the Mont Ventoux and never won up there. Together with Joux-Plane, he rated this climb as the one that made him suffer the most.
