Krepster Publicado 14 Junho 2010 As estruturas do Bruyneel sempre trouxeram gente interessante à Vuelta.

Black Hawk Publicado 27 Junho 2010 Andersen quits Saxo Bank to create Luxembourg team with Schlecks New ProTour team being created for 2011 Directeur sportif Kim Andersen has left Team Saxo Bank to work on creating a new ProTour team for 2011 in Luxembourg that is set to be captained by Fränk and Andy Schleck. There have been rumours that the Schleck brothers were keen to create their own team ever since Saxo Bank announced it would end it's sponsorship this year. So far team owner Bjarne Riis has failed to secure new backing for his team and is now set to lose his two Tour de France contenders. The new Luxembourg team has the support of politicians and strategic businesses in Luxembourg. Cyclingnews understand that former Astana team manager Marc Biver is no longer involved in the creation of the team. However Brian Nygaard, the former press officer with Saxo Bank and until recently with Team Sky, is expected to become team manager. On Sunday morning, Danish broadcaster TV2 Sport reported that Riis had fired Andersen. “That's not quite right and it's not entirely wrong,” Riis said, adding that Saxo Bank would release a statement later on Sunday. However Andersen told the broadcaster in a telephone interview from Luxembourg that his contract with the team has been terminated. He confirmed the plans for the Luxembourg team. “I do not see this as a firing. I've had some wonderful years and have learned a lot and had a good position. And it's a big leap to say farewell to the team but I've got a chance you only get once in life and I have to take it, " Andersen said. “We have made an agreement to stop now. It is clear that in that I'm working on a new project, so it's hard to have time for much else. I fully understand Bjarne, and there are no bad feelings.” “We will work on a new project here in Luxembourg. It's me and Brian Nygaard working on a ProTour team, but it is new and we have a lot to see, so when we have something more specific, we will report on it,” he said. in cyclingnews.com Compartilhar este post Link para o post

City Publicado 1 Julho 2010 Riis: Tour is the goal with Schlecks despite sponsor problems Bjarne Riis today insisted that his team is focused on helping Andy or Fränk Schleck win the Tour de France this month, despite questions about his team's future. Saxo Bank is ending the sponsorship deal at the end of 2010, one year early, and Riis is yet to find a replacement. He is now in a race to find a sponsor as the peloton enters the negotiation period. Rival teams have already approached some of his riders. "There have been a lot of expectations and rumours about announcing a new sponsor before this Tour de France. Anyone who is in the business industry knows it takes patience and a lot of work in a process like this. I have patience," Dane Riis said today, two days before the Tour de France. "I can say we are working on a lot of scenarios, but I have to keep the cards close. My team will have something to announce, but we cannot announce it until we are ready and have the news. I believe the team will go on." Team Sky's and Riis' former press officer, Bryan Nygaard is said to be creating a team for 2011 based in Luxembourg. Nygaard joined Team Sky after working several years with fellow Dane Riis at team Saxo Bank/CSC. After the Giro d'Italia he left his post with Sky to form a team. Nygaard hired Kim Anderson as his head sports director, who abruptly left Saxo Bank this week after six years. Andy and Fränk have been linked with the team because it will be based in their country, and due to their relationship with Andersen. Andy said this week that he is in discussions with four different teams: Riis', Nygaard's' and two yet unknown teams. Riis wants to keep harmony in his team so they can win the Tour de France and he will have a better chance to secure a sponsor. But it is clear that his riders are not 100 per cent focused on the Tour, rather, they are spending some energy thinking about their future, with or without Riis. The same for Riis, who will be on the telephone with potential sponsors after the stages. "I want to make it clear to all that we are here to do the Tour. We won't go into discussions about speculations and rumours. We have talked in the team, with Andy and Fränk... Things are clear: we are here as one team and to win the Tour together," Riis added. "The team decided not to talk about these things in the next three weeks. We are here to concentrate on the race, we owe it to the sponsors, the fans and ourselves. We are here to race the Tour." "I know Bjarne is able to create a great team," Nygaard told Politiken.dk, "and I am sure he has a new sponsor on the way" Nygaard is unable to confirm the sponsors at this time and, following UCI rules, will not release any riders' names until after September 1. cyclingweekly.co.uk Riis defiant about the future of his team Schlecks brothers agree not to discuss their future until after the Tour A defiant Bjarne Riis tried to dampen speculation about the future of his Saxo Bank team, as he and his nine riders faced the press ahead of what could be their last Tour de France together in Rotterdam on Thursday. Riis, flanked by Andy and Fränk Schleck, admitted that he has yet to secure a sponsor to replace Saxo Bank, who is withdrawing their backing at the end of the season. There was no hint that any announcement was imminent. “Everybody who works in business knows it takes patience and a lot of work,” said Riis. “I can tell you that we’re working on different scenarios, but I have to keep my cards tight to [my chest].” “The day we have something to announce, we’ll announce it,” he continued. “But I believe this team will go on in the future - I’m not afraid.” Riis acknowledged recent rumours, fuelled by the surprising departure of his directeur sportif, Kim Andersen, of a new Luxembourg-based team that would almost certainly be led by the Schleck brothers. “Concerning the rumours about a new team and riders leaving,” said Riis, “I want to make it clear: we’re here to do the Tour and we won’t get into discussions during the Tour about any speculation or rumours.” “We have talked internally in the team, and I’ve talked with Andy and Frank, and things are clear between us,” Riis continued. “We are here as a team to win the Tour. We’ve made an agreement not to talk about anything else during the next three weeks. The team is sharp and well prepared, and I think we have our strongest team ever at the Tour de France.” Two team leaders As last year, Saxo Bank will start the Tour with two nominated leaders, but without fear of the kind of internal squabbling that caused problems last year between Lance Armstrong and Alberto Contador in the Astana team. Both Schleck brothers are capable of winning in Paris, said Riis, though many fancy that Frank, who was fifth last year, currently has the edge over younger brother Andy, who was second. The elder Schleck, fresh from his win at the Tour de Suisse, confirmed that his major weakness, time trialling, has improved sufficiently for him to target the podium. “I’ve done special time trial work with Bobby [Julich, the squad’s time trial coach] and Fabian [Cancellera]. I’m never going to be Fabian [the world and Olympic time trial champion] but I am better than I was.” Andy, meanwhile, sported bloody bruises on his hands, following his training crash last Saturday. “My hands were hurting a bit when we rode the pavé yesterday,” he said, “but so were my legs.” Asked if he thought he could beat Contador, Andy said: “I’m not here to fight Contador; I’m here to win the Tour. Contador is the main favourite, but there are many others and I’m ready to fight anyone who wants to take my spot. I tasted last year what it was like to be on the podium in Paris, and I believe, with the team I have around me, that I’m ready.” The third ace in the Saxo Bank pack is, of course, Cancellara. On Saturday he will go for his fourth Tour de France prologue and the first yellow jersey in the 2010 Tour de France. He admitted on Thursday that he had yet to see the course. “I’m seeing it tomorrow morning,” said the Swiss. “But it’s a nice distance, 8.9km, and the form is here - for the rest of the Tour, we’ll see. But for me [the prologue is] a race for yellow and nothing more.” Tuesday’s third stage, over some of the pavé that Cancellara conquered on his way to winning Paris-Roubaix in April, could also suit him. Of the team’s reconnaissance ride on Wednesday, he said: “It was very funny.” But before revealing any secrets about the slightly-built Schleck brothers’ ability - or inability - over rough cobblestones, he added: “For people watching at home it will be an interesting stage.” Riis added: “We’ve ridden the cobbles a couple of times now. For Fabian it’ll be fun, for others, not so much fun. It’ll be spectacular, no doubt about it – and dangerous. There’ll be a lot of crashes even before the cobblestones, because there will be a fight coming into them.” cyclingnews.com O Riis não tinha arranjado já um novo sponsor? A Sungard ou algo assim?
