#56-58: Talent Trade Upgrades

The Talent Trade feature has been upgraded for TEW2013. It is now also available directly from the Control Room \ Office rather than the more obscure route of having to go into a promotion's profile first, for ease of use.

You can now offer up to five workers in exchange for your target worker. This allows you to potentially use several of your stars to snag a mega-star target. The AI will not be fooled by mere bulk though - it will recognise that five terrible workers doesn't equal one good worker, as five terrible workers are still useless even if there are five of them.

You can now also offer cash incentives. This can either be in addition to the worker(s) you are offering for trade, or as an alternative - the latter meaning you are essentially 'buying' the worker you want temporarily.

#59: Free \ Unused Pictures

New to the editor is a section called 'Free Pictures'; this is essentially a storehouse for all the worker pictures that you may have that are not being used anywhere else in the game.

Each picture, when added, is tagged with data that identifies how it can be used. When new characters are created during game play, TEW can then look through the Free Picture store and see if there are any appropriate pictures available that can be used.

The identification data includes: Gender, Acceptable Positions (wrestler, manager, announcer, etc), Acceptable Sizes (Very Small to Giant) and Acceptable Races (White, Black, Asian, etc).

There is also a Yes \ No box for "Use Once"; this allows you to say whether the picture can only be used once per game. If it is set to only be used once, the entry is deleted after use, meaning that you won't end up with two workers using the same picture.

This system therefore allows any unused pictures to be recycled in a useful way, without needing to mess about with complex file name identifiers.

#60: Upgraded Show Ratings

The way final show ratings are calculated has been upgraded in TEW2013.

In previous games, the rating was calculated by creating an initial rating based on the match grades (usually 70% of the main event, 20% of the penultimate match, and 10% of the average of the rest) and then tweaking that slightly based on the angle ratings. While there is nothing wrong with this approach per se, it does force every promotion to concentrate predominantly on matches as they provide the majority of the points.

The new method better incorporates angles by using a two-fold system.

Firstly, an overall angle rating is now created based on a similar method to the matches; it is usually made up of 70% of the best angle rating, 20% of the second best, and 10% of the third best. Obviously these ratios change if there are less than three angles.

Secondly, and crucially, the overall grade is then created by looking at how the show was split (in terms of time) between matches and angles. So if a one hour show featured half an hour of matches and half an hour of angles, the overall rating would be made up of 50% of the overall match rating plus 50% of the overall angle rating.

This is a key change because it means that promotions have far more leeway in how they operate; a company that can pump out great angles but features awful matches had little chance in previous games, whereas in TEW2013 they will be able to operate like that and still have the chance to thrive. It also fundamentally alters the game world, as it means that great entertainers who are poor in the ring are no longer considerably less valuable than great wrestlers who are dull, as they can provide a much bigger positive impact on shows.

OH...FUCK...YEAH!!!

Se havia coisa que me irritava era sacar ratings nos angles, do estilo A, e por o Main-Event ser um B- o show ter B- de rating...

#61: AI Feuds

New to TEW2013 is a feature that sees AI-controlled promotions able to have their own "official" feuds.

When a new feud is created you will be able to read about it in the Internet section, as well as reviewing all the current feuds via a promotion's profile. Feuds are either singles or tag.

If a promotion has current feuds it will work them into its cards by increasing the chance that people who are feuding are booked together in angles and matches.

#62: More Dynamic Company Relationships

In previous games, company relationships would mostly only change when either the player initiated it or when a new owner took over an AI-controlled promotion. This meant that without the player's involvement, company relationships were often very static.

In TEW2013, in order to make the game world more dynamic, owners of AI-controlled promotions will now reevaluate their company's pacts once a year to see if any changes are needed.

Three smaller items today.

#63: Visible Race

Previously, finding a worker's race actually took some digging; in TEW2013 it is now visible on all roster and profile style screens, in brackets after their nationality.

#64: End Of Year Award Reports

The End Of Year awards have always been sent to the player in the form of e-mails in previous games; something which can get annoying over time as they clog up your inbox. In TEW2013, this method has been replaced by having proper Internet stories about each one.

#65: AI 'Last Contender'

An issue that could crop up in previous games is the AI giving the same worker or team multiple title shots in a row due to a small pool of challengers. The AI in TEW2013 now keeps track of the 'last contender' and, unless under extraordinary circumstances, will never allow the same person \ team to get two shots in a row.

#66: Owner \ Booker Priorities

To add to the realism, TEW2013 marks the first time that owners and head bookers can prioritise their own promotion over others.

Simply put, if a worker is an owner or head booker of a promotion that has a show on a specific night, they get to ignore the usual rule whereby they'd work for the biggest promotion that they're under contract with who have a show.

This also has a knock-on effect that owners and head bookers will now be more likely to accept work elsewhere (on non-exclusive deals, obviously) as they know it won't impact their promotion as much as it would have in previous games.

Quote do Adam Ryland, de ontem.

I've barely even started on the major additions yet, so being disappointed that I haven't referenced what would be an extremely minor addition is a bit much.

#67: Contracts (Part 1)

The first of the changes to the contract system that we'll cover in this journal involves the method of offering deals.

In previous games you would request negotiations, wait some time for a yes or no, and then begin putting together offers if they were interested.

In a more realistic and time-saving method, with TEW2013 you will instead first make an initial approach that will get an instant response - rejections at this point are limited to reasons that you would not be able to negotiate your way around anyway, such as them being contractually unable to talk to you, being unavailable, etc. If they have no objections, you will then immediately be able to put together a full contract offer and send it to them.

There are several advantages to this, the main ones being:

1 - Time wasting is cut to a minimum; if a worker is never going to join you anyway, you find out immediately, not after waiting several days for a response.

2 - Because the worker gets a proper contract offer - with specific terms and values - to think about, you have the opportunity to entice them with big offers. This is superior to the previous method where they could reject you outright before even hearing your offer because they were basing their response on your promotion's size, etc, not on what you were offering.

3 - The user has less to remember; because you get instant reactions, you can get everything done right there and then. You don't have to remember who you've made offers to and how good they were or what sort of offer you were planning to make.

Muito importante esta mudança.

#68: Contracts (Part 2)

Another change to the way contracts work involves bidding wars.

Once you've made a contract offer you are officially "in negotiations" with that worker, and this means that you will be alerted when any other company offers, alters or withdraws a contract to that person. At any time you can view all the current contract offers (including the full terms that the AI is offering) and, crucially, the worker's current position - this will tell you which offers he is seriously considering, which he's leaning toward, how long he expects to wait before making his decision, etc. You can alter your existing offer whenever you like in order to improve it.

How long the worker's decision takes will depend on many factors, including his status within the game world (i.e. an unknown, unemployed wrestler is not going to take multiple weeks to mull over a contract offer) and how many other offers there are - a full-blown bidding war will usually cause the worker to sit back and take longer over his decision, allowing the promotions to improve their offers as they offer and counteroffer.

Once a worker has considered all of his offers he will make a decision on which contract offer he prefers. That promotion will then be able to choose to either complete the contract signing or withdraw. If they withdraw, the worker then reconsiders the offers that are left, and so on.

Unlike previous games, bidding wars happen entirely in this offer-and-counteroffer style; there is no "timed" negotiation screen where you have to fight it out with others. This therefore allows multiple users to battle over the same worker, and means that if you do lose out it is because your offer wasn't good enough, not that your time management was poor.

Muito, muito, muito bom! Torna o jogo muito mais interessante na parte de contratações e dá uma dinâmica muito interessante à opção de se jogar multiplayer num mundo em que se sejam concorrentes.
