Cardeal revela conspiração para matar papa Bento XVI

 

O cardeal colombiano Dario Castrillón Hoyos entregou ao papa Bento XVI um documento sobre uma alegada conspiração para matar o santo padre dentro de 12 meses, noticiou, esta sexta-feira, o jornal italiano "Il Fatto Quotidiano".

O jornal, especializado em jornalismo político e de investigação, afirmou que Castrillón entregou na Secretaria de Estado do Vaticano um documento, escrito em alemão, para Bento XVI no qual o informava sobre o que lhe tinha dito o cardeal e arcebispo de Palermo, Paolo Romeo, durante algumas conversas na China em Novembro último.

 

"Vaticano, intrigas e venenos. O papa morrerá dentro de 12 meses", destacou o jornal na primeira página. Nas páginas interiores apresenta-se a tradução de toda a mensagem.

 

Neste documento, que é considerado "estritamente confidencial", são citadas declarações "de uma pessoa bem informada" sobre as conversas mantidas durante uma viagem do cardeal à China em Novembro último.

 

"Seguro de si mesmo, como se o soubesse com precisão, o cardeal Romeo anunciou que só restam 12 meses de vida ao papa", de acordo com a tradução do documento.

 

O porta-voz da sala de imprensa do Vaticano, o padre jesuíta Federico Lombardi, questionado pelo diário afirmou que a informação estava "tão fora da realidade e tão pouco séria que não se podia tomar em consideração".

 

"Parece-me inacreditável e não quero comentar", adiantou Lombardi, referiu o jornal.

Vatican Uncovers Possible Plot To Kill The Pope Within The Year

 

 

The Italian press is going wild over a secret letter, known as the "mordkomplott" letter, that mentions an apparent plot to kill the Pope and was published Friday by Il Fatto Quotidiano.

The anonymous letter was apparently written on the December 30 to a number of senior Vatican figures, and had been labeled "strictly confidential for the Holy Father". It was written in German, the Pope's native language.

In the letter an account is made of a conversation that Cardinal Paolo Romeo, the archbishop of Palermo, allegedly had with an Italian businessmen in Beijing last November. Cardinal Romeo apparently predicted that the pope would die within 12 months and suggested his replacement would be Angelo Scola, the archbishop of Milan.

The paper writes:

 

"His remarks were expressed with such certainty and resolution that the people he was speaking to thought, with a sense of alarm, that an attack on the Pope's life was being planned,"

 

Il Fatto Quotidiano, a daily paper with a reputation for scoops, splashed the story on its front page, and said the letter was evidence of a deadly internal power struggle in the Vatican between the traditional Italian wing, and the German and Polish wing who have held the papacy in recent years.

However, a Vatican spokesperson said that the letter was "obviously delirious raving that cannot be taken seriously in any way," while an Italian news agency has quoted Cardinal Romeo denying he made any such prediction.

The Telegraph reports that some experts think the letter may be used to force out Tarcisio Bertone, the Secretary of State and the Vatican's second most senior figure, who is mentioned by name in the letter.

Vatican dismisses report of plot to kill the pope as 'ramblings'

 

ROME -- The Vatican moved quickly Friday to dismiss newspaper reports of a plot to kill the pope.

"These are clearly ramblings, which are not at all taken seriously. This is madness," Federico Lombardi, the director of the Vatican press office, said in a hurriedly-released statement.

Italian media went into a frenzy Thursday night after Italian newspaper Il Fatto Quotidiano published a front-page account of a note sent to Benedict XVI by retired Colombian Cardinal Castrillon, Sky Italia TG24 reported.

The note, written in German, tells of an alleged conversation in which the Archbishop of Palermo, Cardinal Romeo, during a visit to China, claimed the pope was in great danger and an attack was feared within 12 months. Romeo also apparently named the pope's probable successor as Cardinal Scola, the current Archbishop of Milan.

Romeo told the ANSA news agency Friday that the words credited to him were "entirely without basis."

"It is so beyond reality that it shouldn't be given any consideration," Romeo said.

The document was dated Dec. 30, 2011, but it was given to the pope in January this year.

Papal conspiracy theories are nothing new. The sudden death of Pope John Paul I, just 33 days after becoming pontiff in 1978, led to a wealth of unfounded stories about plots and poisoning.

E então pergunto eu: deve ficar para sempre marcado por isso? Passaram-se mais de 60 anos desde a morte de Hitler, não é justo estar a julgá-lo para sempre por algo que aconteceu num período específico e tão particular da História. Há muito por onde pegar, como os escândalos de pedofilia onde me parece que ele está entalado até ao pescoço, mas neste caso é injusto.

eu que não gosto minimamente do homem também consigo perceber isso que estão aí a dizer, apesar de ser algo que custe a engolir. Se realmente o homem não tinha outra hipótese, e se não tinha os tomates no sítio para se "rebelar" - o que é legítimo, pois nem eu sei se os teria - para quê isto tudo? Há muito mais por onde pegar se é para criticar..

 

E isto da noticia, era coisa que não me fazia grande comichão, nenhuma até. Mas também nao me fazia mais feliz.

Só não acho muito correcto colocarem lá o homem, depois desses mesmos antepassados. A verdade é que ele pertenceu a Hitler.

 

Certamente, haveriam outros candidatos que não tiveram essas marcas do passado. Mas é só a minha opinião.

The Pope will die within a year: Vatican 'assassination fears' revealed

The Pope will die within the next 12 months, a senior Vatican figure has reportedly claimed amid fears of an assassination plot.

 

 

The sensational prediction was allegedly made by Cardinal Paolo Romeo, the archbishop of Palermo in Sicily, on a recent visit to China.

Cardinal Romeo reportedly made the startling prediction of the Pope's death during a trip to China in November 2011.

He seemed so sure of the fact that the people he spoke with, including Italian businessmen and Chinese representatives of the Catholic Church, were convinced that he was talking about an assassination attempt.

They were so alarmed by his remarks that they reported them back to the Vatican.

The extraordinary comments were written up in a top-secret report, dated Dec 30, 2011, and delivered to the Pope by a senior cardinal, Dario Castrillon Hoyos, a Colombian, in January.

 

The Vatican has reportedly opened an investigation into the claims.

The report was written in German, apparently to limit the number of people within the Vatican who would understand it if it was inadvertently leaked.

It warns of a "Mordkomplott" – death plot – against Benedict.

The story was broken on Friday by an Italian daily, Il Fatto Quotidiano, with the headline "Plot against the Pope – he will die within 12 months".

The newspaper, which has a reputation for scoops, published a page from the confidential report.

"During his talks in China, Cardinal Romeo predicted the death of Benedict XVI within 12 months. His remarks were expressed with such certainty and resolution that the people he was speaking to thought, with a sense of alarm, that an attack on the Pope's life was being planned," the paper reported.

"Cardinal Romeo could never have imagined that the indiscreet remarks he made on the trip to China would be communicated back to the Vatican by third parties."

Asked about the reported comments on Friday, however, Romeo said that the words attributed to him were "absolutely without basis."

"It is so outside of reality that it should not be given any consideration," Romeo was quoted by Italian news agency ANSA as saying.

The Vatican's spokesman, Father Federico Lombardi, said the report was "so incredible that we cannot comment on it".

"It seems to me something that is so far from reality that I don't even want to address it," Father Lombardi said. "It seems an incredible story and I don't want to comment."

He did not deny the existence of the document to AFP, but added that it was "devoid of reality".

Cardinal Romeo also named Benedict's XVI likely successor as Cardinal Angelo Scola, the archbishop of Milan – meaning the papacy would return to an Italian after the German Benedict and his Polish predecessor, John Paul II.

He allegedly told his contacts in China that Pope Benedict could not stand Tarcisio Bertone, his Secretary of State and the Vatican's second most senior figure, amid reports of bitter power struggles going on within the Holy See.

 

Experts said the release of the document could be part of a power struggle within the Vatican administration to try and force Bertone to leave.

Cardinal Romeo said Benedict viewed Cardinal Scola as his ideal successor because they had similar personalities and theological outlooks.

Cardinal Scola was previously the Patriarch of Venice, but was promoted to the archbishopric of Milan by Benedict in June last year.

The most recent attempt on a pope's life was in 1981 when John Paul II was shot and critically wounded in St Peter's Square by Mehmet Ali Agca, a Turkish gunman with links to a shadowy militant group called the Grey Wolves.

It has been claimed that the assassination attempt was backed by the KGB and Bulgarian secret service, in retaliation for the pope's support for the pro-democracy Solidarity movement in his native Poland and his opposition to Communism.

pelo que percebi do que li aqui e noutro sítio - e li tudo muito na diagonal - isto não passa de uma previsão/conspiração lol por causa da "guerra" que há dentro do Vaticano, com italianos, alemães este é alemãoe polacos a querer ter um papa "seu" no Vaticano. Isto porque este papa é alemão e o anterior era polaco, e não há nenhum italiano há algum tempo.

Eu acho é que esta história, verdade ou não, pode fazer com que alguma das seitas, extremistas, sociedades secretas, etc. que querem matar o Papa comecem a planear algo para os próximos tempos, para não deixar que outros cheguem ao "objectivo" primeiro que eles. Posso ser já eu a fazer filmes, mas...
