Em declarações ao "Daily Mail", o diretor desportivo Lord Harris revelou que o Arsenal seria neste momento capaz de comprar um jogador por um valor recorde a nível mundial, superando, por exemplo, a verba gasta pelo Real Madrid em Cristiano Ronaldo.

"O dinheiro era 'contadinho' quando nos mudámos para o Emirates, mas agora estamos mais tranquilos. Podíamos ir ao mercado e comprar qualquer jogador, menos uma meia dúzia, que não pode ser adquirida. Nos nossos cofres temos mais de 200 milhões de libras (282 milhões de euros). Podem dizer ao Arsène Wenger que não temos dinheiro e ele não se importa ou podem dar-lhe 100 milhões e ele não gasta", revelou o dirigente gunner, que deixou ainda um comentário curioso.

"Estaríamos do seu lado se ele quisesse bater o nosso recorde de compras. Se ele quiser alguém, pode tê-lo. Excluíndo Messi e Ronaldo, ele pode ter qualquer jogador", garantiu.
