António Livramento

 

António José Parreira do Livramento (António Livramento) , (São Manços, 28 de Fevereiro de 1944 – Lisboa 7 de Junho de 1999) foi um jogador de hóquei em patins português, considerado o melhor jogador do Mundo de todos os tempos.

 

Começou por jogar futebol, a sua paixão de adolescente, no Venda Nova, perto de Benfica. A certa altura, um técnico do Futebol Benfica, Torcato Ferreira, achou que o "miúdo" teria muito jeito para jogar hóquei em patins, e convidou-o a aparecer no rinque do «Fófó». Livramento recusa, mas perante a insistência de Torcato decide experimentar, e a a partir daí o futebol passa para segundo plano.

 

Em 1959, o Benfica contrata-o, numa operação algo complicada, e aos 16 anos é chamado à selecção de juniores por António Raio. Tem a sua estreia auspiciosa contra a Bélgica, no Campeonato da Europa, marcando três golos na vítória por 5-1. É eleito melhor jogador do torneio, aliado ao troféu de melhor marcador.

 

Passa para a equipa principal, e em 1961 sagra-se Campeão Europeu, marcando 17 golos, tal como Adrião. No ano seguinte a dupla Livramento/Adrião torna-se imparável e Portugal é Campeão do Mundo.

 

Um momento ímpar na carreira de António Livramento aconteceu em Maio de 1962. O Mundial de hóquei em patins disputava-se em Santiago do Chile. No jogo entre Portugal e a Argentina, um jogador apanha a bola atrás da baliza, finta toda a equipa adversária e marca golo levando o público ao delírio. Era Livramento, que, emocionado, pede para sair.

 

Em 1963, torna-se pela segunda vez (seguir-se-iam mais cinco!) Campeão da Europa, e em 1965, em mais um triunfo europeu de Portugal, deslumbra, marcando sete dos 17 golos da vitória lusitana sobre a Bélgica. No final dos anos 1960 já não há dúvidas que o futuro do hóquei era ele.

 

A beleza do seu jogo só é igualada pela eficiência do mesmo. Volta a ser Campeão Nacional e Europeu em 1967, e um ano depois, no Porto, marca 42 golos em nove jogos do Mundial, quase metade dos da selecção das quinas (92). Por três vezes marca dez golos (Japão, Nova Zelândia e Suíça) num só jogo.

 

As grandes exibições levam-no a sair do Benfica para Itália, para jogar no Hóquei Candi Monza, mas pela primeira vez fica fora da selecção, quando Portugal se sagra novamente, em 1971, Campeão da Europa. Volta a Lisboa no ano seguinte para ser Campeão pelos encarnados, triunfo que repete em 1974, sagrando-se pela segunda vez Campeão Mundial.

 

Com a sua genialidade e talento junta mais dois títulos europeus ao seu vasto palmarés. Muito supersticioso, quando um jogo lhe corria bem, voltava a equipar-se da mesma maneira, repetindo os mesmos passos no jogo seguinte.

 

Ingressa depois no clube do Banco Pinto e Sotto Mayor, onde era funcionário, chegando a campeão da II Divisão.

 

Daí muda-se, em 1977, para o clube do coração, o Sporting, integrando uma equipa de sonho. Conquista tudo o que havia para ganhar, incluindo o título que lhe faltava, a Taça dos Campeões Europeus.

 

Sob a sua batuta, Portugal volta a sagrar-se Campeão Europeu, num jogo com a Espanha, incendiado nos minutos finais pelas agressões mútuas entre Livramento e um espanhol, que termina com invasão de campo. Após o jogo, declara "é a última vez que jogo pela Selecção. Em tantos anos nunca coisa semelhante me aconteceu. Tive de reagir depois do Ortega me ter agredido, quando vi o osso de fora…a minha saída não afectará Portugal". Fez 209 jogos com a selecção das quinas, marcando 425 golos. Ruma depois ao Amatori Lodi, de Itália, terminando a carreira no Sporting, em 1980.

 

Depois de abandonar os rinques, inicia o percurso de treinador novamente pleno de êxito, levando em 1981 o Sporting à vitória na Taça das Taças. No ano seguinte conquista o Campeonato Nacional.

 

Em 1984 conduz o «seu» Sporting a mais dois troféus para as vitrinas de Alvalade (Taça Cers e Taça de Portugal), e ruma de novo a Itália para treinar o Bassano, onde jogam Luís Nunes e Fanã.

 

Volta a Alvalade, qual pronto-socorro para reanimar uma equipa moribunda, levando-a ao segundo lugar do Campeonato.

 

Com o rigor, disciplina e a capacidade de motivar os jogadores implanta um jogo agressivo, ao bom estilo italiano, de procura constante da bola, aliada ao tecnicismo português que torna as suas equipas infalíveis. O seu maior vício era o tabaco, a ponto de, nos estágios da Selecção, dividir o quarto com o massagista para não fumar.

 

Soma mais três títulos, dois Europeus pela selecção, e um Nacional pelos «leões», e já na década de noventa, em 1993, é Campeão Mundial em Itália, 31 anos depois do último troféu conquistado fora de casa.

 

Não pára por aí, e como seleccionador sagra-se novamente Campeão da Europa no ano seguinte. Em 1998 é convidado para treinar o FC Porto e na mesma temporada vence o Campeonato, mas perde por penaltis a final da Liga dos Campeões.

 

A 5 de Junho de 1999, o destino coloca-o perante o desafio final, acabando por morrer repentinamente com apenas 55 anos, vítima de uma trombose.

 

Cristiano Pereira, colega de selecção e seu substituto no lugar de treinador do FC Porto, define o campeão na hora da despedida final: "Ele era o artista".

Biografia

 

Burrow é o surfista mais jovem a ganhar o WQS, em 1996, com dezoito anos de idade e a se classificar para o Circuito Mundial de Surf de 1997. Apesar disso, decidiu não participar e aguardar mais um ano, sentindo-se mais seguro de suas possibilidades.

 

Em 1998 estreou no circuito e foi eleito o "Rookie of the Year" (Novato do Ano). No ano seguinte, acabou em segundo lugar, sua melhor posição como profissional no WCT. Em 2002 terminou em quarto e em 2003, em terceiro.

Eldrick Tont Woods (Cypress, 30 de dezembro de 1975), mais conhecido como Tiger Woods, é um jogador de golfe dos Estados Unidos.

 

É considerado um dos melhores golfistas de todos os tempos. Em 2005, aos 29 anos de idade, ele alcançou a marca de dez grandes conquistas do golfe profissional, colocando-o em terceiro na lista atrás de Jack Nicklaus e Walter Hagen. Incluindo seus três Campeonatos Amadores dos EUA ele e Bobby Jones foram os únicos golfistas a ganhar treze títulos importantes antes dos 30 anos de idade. Ele ganhou mais vezes no PGA Tour do que qualquer outro golfista em atividade.

The last quarterback of the Quarterback Class of 1983 to be taken in the first round, Marino became one of the most prolific quarterbacks in league history, holding or having held almost every major NFL passing record. Despite never being on a Super Bowl-winning team, he is recognized as one of the greatest quarterbacks in American football history. Muhammad Ali (born Cassius Marcellus Clay, Jr.; January 17, 1942) is an American former boxer and three-time World Heavyweight Champion. As an amateur, he won a gold medal in the light heavyweight division at the 1960 Summer Olympics in Rome. After turning professional, he went on to become the first and only boxer to win the lineal heavyweight championship three times.

 

Originally known as Cassius Clay, Ali changed his name after joining the Nation of Islam in 1964, subsequently converting to Sunni Islam in 1975. In 1967, Ali refused to be conscripted into the U.S. military, based on his religious beliefs and opposition to the Vietnam War. He was arrested and found guilty on draft evasion charges, stripped of his boxing title, and his boxing license was suspended. He was not imprisoned, but did not fight again for nearly four years while his appeal worked its way up to the U.S. Supreme Court, where it was successful.

 

Nicknamed "The Greatest", Ali was involved in several historic boxing matches. Notable among these are three with rival Joe Frazier and one with George Foreman, whom he beat by knockout to win the world heavyweight title for the second time. He suffered only five losses (four decisions and one TKO by retirement from the bout) with no draws in his career, while amassing 56 wins (37 knockouts and 19 decisions). Willie Howard Mays, Jr. (born May 6, 1931) is an American professional baseball player who played the majority of his major league career with the New York and San Francisco Giants before finishing with the New York Mets. Nicknamed The Say Hey Kid, Mays was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1979, his first year of eligibility. Many consider him to be the greatest all-around player of all time.

 

Mays won two MVP awards and tied Stan Musial's record with 24 appearances in the All-Star Game. He ended his career with 660 home runs, third at the time of his retirement, and currently fourth all-time. George Herman Ruth Jr. (6 de fevereiro de 1895 – 16 de agosto de 1948), mais conhecido como Babe Ruth e Bambino, foi um grande, há quem diga o melhor jogador de basebol de todos os tempos, por ser um dos poucos a saber arremessar e rebater bem. Começou sua carreira jogando pelo Boston Red Sox durante 1914-1920, até quando o General Manager do Boston, Harry Frazee, fez uma negociação com o New York Yankees, maior rival da equipe. O motivo era o financiamento de um musical, o que depois geraria uma seca de World Series para o Boston, conhecida como A Maldição do Bambino. Ao chegar em Nova York Ruth mostrou uma grande capacidade com o bastão, o que compensava sua forma física nada atlética. Durante sua estadia em New York fez um time que não ganhava nada ganhar 8 títulos, sendo metade deles de World Series. Após 14 anos defendendo as cores dos Yankees, em 1935 jogou mais um ano no Boston Braves. Logo após essa temporada retirou-se das Major Leagues. No ano seguinte Babe Ruth entrou no National Baseball Hall of Fame, com 95,13% dos votos a favor de uma homenagem ao Bambino no Salão da Fama.

 

A Maldição do Bambino perdurou até o ano de 2004, quando finalmente o Red Sox conseguiu conquistar a World Series. A longa seca devia-se a influência de Ruth. Sua presença era sentida por muitos no mundo do Baseball. Há quem diga que a maldição foi responsável por pelo menos três momentos negativos históricos da história do Red Sox. O home-run de Buck Dent em 1978, o erro de Bill "Between the legs" Buckner em 1986 e o home-run da vitória, anotado por Aaron Bonne em 2003, no maior jogo da história da pós-temporada da MLB.

 

Babe Ruth foi criado em um colégio de padres e foi lá que ele aprendeu a jogar Beisebol. Teve alguns problemas alcoolicos, porém, mesmo assim, era um excelente jogador. Sem dúvida Babe Ruth foi um grande homem e grande nome do esporte mundial.

Ray Anthony Lewis (born May 15, 1975) is an American football linebacker for the Baltimore Ravens of the National Football League (NFL). Since being drafted by the Ravens in 1996, he has been selected to twelve Pro Bowls and been named an Associated Press All-Pro ten times. He won the NFL Defensive Player of the Year in 2000 and 2003; he was the sixth player to win the award multiple times. He was also the second linebacker to win the Super Bowl Most Valuable Player Award and the first linebacker to win the award on the winning Super Bowl team. Widely considered to be among the best linebackers of all time, Lewis was ranked as the 18th best player in league history by the NFL Network in 2010. He played college football at the University of Miami.

 

Throughout his career Lewis built a reputation as a leader and intimidating force at middle linebacker. He has led his team in tackles in twelve of his fourteen seasons. The Ravens did not allow a single 100-yard rusher in 51 consecutive games from the 1998 through 2001 seasons. In addition to his run defense, Lewis has also gained a reputation as a complete defender. A poll of NFL coaches selected Lewis as the most dominant player in the NFL before the 2003 season by being mentioned on ten ballots while no other player was mentioned more than twice.

 

Lewis has been heavily involved in charitable activities throughout his professional career. Lewis started the Ray Lewis 52 Foundation which is a non-profit corporation whose mission is to provide personal and economic assistance to disadvantaged youth. The foundation has funded such events as adopting ten families in Baltimore City community for the holidays, an annual celebrity auction and bowling tournament, the Great Maryland Duck Derby, Thanksgiving food drives on North Avenue in Baltimore and Ray's Summer Days. All proceeds have helped fund the Ray Lewis Foundation.

 

Lewis has since been involved in pressing political, business, and philanthropic leaders for a stronger commitment to disability sports both here and in the developing world. Lewis was also honored with a JB award (named in honor of CBS broadcaster James Brown) during the 2006 off-season and received the "Act of Kindness" Award for his work in the community.

 

Lewis opened the Ray Lewis Full Moon Bar-B-Que which operated in Baltimore's Canton neighborhood from February 2005 until 2008. He has also gained several national corporate endorsements, some of which draw upon his tough image. In 2004, Lewis was placed on the cover of the highly popular Madden NFL 2005 video game distributed by EA Sports, and is also a very avid player of the football video game series. In 2006 it was announced that Lewis, Hall of Fame running back Gale Sayers and entrepreneur Mark Bloomquist would form S&L Racing, intending to race both cars and trucks from a North Carolina headquarters. The attempt to join NASCAR racing failed.

Robert Kelly Slater (born February 11, 1972, Cocoa Beach, FL, USA) is an American professional surfer known for his competitive prowess and style.

 

He has been crowned ASP World Champion a record 10 times, including 5 consecutive titles from 1994–98. He is the youngest (at age 20) and the oldest (at age 38) to win the title. Upon winning his 5th world title in 1997, Slater passed Australian surfing legend Mark Richards to become the most successful champion in the history of the sport. In 2007 he also became the all-time leader in career event wins by winning the Boost Mobile Pro event at Lower Trestles near San Clemente, California. The previous record was held by Slater's childhood hero, 3-time world champion Tom Curren.

 

In addition to the ASP tour, Slater has also competed in the X-Games (in 2003 and 2004). On October 3, 2008, Slater won his ninth ASP world title at the Billabong Pro Mundaka by defeating local surfer Eneko Acero in the 3rd round. In May 2005, in the final heat of the Billabong Tahiti Pro contest at Teahupo'o, Slater became the first surfer ever to be awarded two perfect scores for a total 20 out of 20 points under the ASP two-wave scoring system. (The corresponding honor under the previous three-wave system belongs to fellow American Shane Beschen who achieved the feat in 1996.)

 

Since 1990, Slater has been sponsored primarily by surfwear industry giant Quiksilver. He exclusively rides Channel Islands surfboards equipped with his own signature series of FCS fins.
