  4. TS- Welcome everyone to the Buy In for AEW’s first event, Double or Nothing, here, from the beautiful MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas. I am Tony Schiavone and I am joined by my broadcaster partner, the voice of AEW, Excalibur. EX- It’s a pleasure to be here Tony, running down the card from this historic event here in Las Vegas. TS- Folks, don’t forget to order the PPV from our partners, and let’s get right down to it. To start us off, let’s talk about a Fatal Four Way Tag Team Match, where the winners get a guaranteed spot in an upcoming tournament to crown the AEW World Tag Team Champions. EX- It will be a match full of action Tony. You have the Best Friends of Chuck Taylor and Trent Beretta. Trent is a very experienced tag team wrestler and Chuck always provides us with some, let’s say, unorthodox offense. TS- Facing them in the match, as far as more experienced partnership, you will have The Hybrid2, Angélico and Jack Evans. What can you tell us about them Excalibur? EX- Jack Evans is one of the most influential high flyers in the independent scene. He truly revolutionized wrestling and I am very excited to see him perform with AEW. Angélico, despite having wrestled most of his career in México and certainly having the ability to fly, is not a prototypical high-flyer. Instead, he is much more adept in what is called the “llave” style of wrestling, which has one of his most famous performers wrestling tonight as well. TS- And then you have 2 other duos, Jurassic Express and Homicide and Low-Ki. EX- They prefer to be called Hostile Intent. TS- Oh, is that so? Hostile Intent then. From what I have gathered, this is the 1st time ever that Luchasaurus and Jack Perry have ever teamed up! Luchasaurus will be by far the largest wrestler in this match and Jack, while very young, has all the drive and will to succeed. EX- However, the other team features two legends in independent wrestling. Both are former Ring of Honor World Champions, Homicide is one of the toughest wrestlers that I have ever faced and folks, if you have seen a Low-Ki, prepare to be dazzled. He hits and wrestlers like no else that I have ever seen. TS- Let’s move on to another tag team match, this one featuring 4 of the best japanese female wrestlers in the world. EX- Kairi Hojo and Io Shirai surprised the world when they announced that they had joined AEW. Not only they had success in Japan, with both of them being former World of Stardom Champions, they have also achieved success in the United States. With them joining AEW, the sky is the limit for the Women’s Division. TS- Facing them will be Hikaru Shida and Riho. While not as accomplished as their opponents, they are incredibly talented and could pull off a huge upset if Kairi and Io take them lightly. EX- And let’s not forget about the X Factor here, Prince Nana. He was the one that introduced Kairi and Io to AEW, and he can always have a part to play in the match. TS- Let’s talk about the 1st of our trios match here. SCU have issued an open challenge to anyone in the world to face them here at Double or Nothing. EX- That they have, and after talking with Tony Khan, he has said that he heard from a big number of incredibly talented wrestlers that wanted to accept the challenge but he has picked, in his own words, “a trio of wrestlers that will bring the house down”. TS- Cannot wait to see that. And in the other trios match, it will feature 6 incredible wrestlers. EX- Indeed it will, Melissa and the Canadian NINJAS are certified independent wrestling legends. During a time when the mainstream view on women’s wrestling in the United States was in the toiler, they worked their asses off in Shimmer and brought a legitimacy and in ring quality that many times surpassed those of the men. And now, they have their chance in the biggest stage that they have ever had. TS- And on the other side, 3 women that are following in their footsteps. Chelsea Green, Britt Baker and Bea Priestley might lack the experience and guile that their 3 opponents have, but they will make them work their asses off. EX- Without a doubt there Tony. TS- In the last of our non singles matches of the night, we have a certified dream match. The Young Bucks, perhaps the most influential team of the decade, will be facing the Lucha Brothers. EX- We don’t really have to hype this one that much. It’s two of the best tag teams in the world facing off, and we are expecting something great here. TS- And now let’s get into the singles matches. First off, we have a special request by Bryan Danielson, who is joining us at this time. BD- Tony, Excalibur, great to be here and I cannot wait to get this show started! TX- Bryan, we see that you are not alone, who is this young man? BD- This Joe Regal. Of course that you know by his name who his father is, he told me to send his regards to you Tony. JB- Gentleman, a true pleasure to make your acquaintances. BD- Mr. Regal asked me a special favor, if I would let Joe here be ringside for this match tonight. EX- Any particular reason why Bryan? At our last press conference, you said that Blue Panther was one of your heroes. BD- Exactly for that. Mr.Regal told me that he was sure that Joe would learn more in this match that he would learn anywhere else. And as for Blue Panther being one of my heroes, I would like to expand on that. He is one of my dream matches. I have modeled my in-ring around a lot of people. Shawn Michaels, William Regal, people like that. But the first time that I saw Panther, he was like a drug to me. I could not look away. I would like to think that he is without a doubt my biggest influence. And I would like to thank Tony Khan for the opportunity to have this match. TS- And how have you prepared for this match? BD- The preparation was mostly mental, for me to not be star struck when I get in the ring with him. His style very closely matches my own, and I would like to think that I know his every move, but with the way that his brain works in the ring, you just have to be ready to adapt. EX- Thank you very much for joining us Bryan, and Joe as well. BD- Always a pleasure gentlemen. TS- Now let’s talk about Brother vs Brother. This one, according to both Cody and Dustin, is to say something that they have never been able to say before. EX- Dustin is a certified legend of this business. He has wrestled all over the world, competed in various decades. He had a singles match against Cody, but they feel like they were never able to really wrestle like they wanted to do. TS- And as someone that knew and loved Dusty, I know that he is looking down on his kids, smiling, knowing that they will give it all to truly honour his memory. EX- And we now get to the 2 main matches of the show. TS- At All Out, we will crown the first ever AEW World Champion. Tonight, four men will leave everything in the ring to get a shot at competing in that match. EX- First off, you get PAC. A globe trotter, PAC has wrestled all over the world. In the last couple of years he has become even more vicious than ever and has started forcing people to call him “Bastard”. A truly powerful striker that has an aerial ability that would put a lot of people to shame. TS- Facing him will be “Hangman” Adam Page. By far the youngest of the four men trying to compete for the title, at AEW’s inaugural press conference he told everyone that he will win the title or die trying. EX- In the other match, we have a rematch of Wrestle Kingdom 12, with Chris Jericho taking on Kenny Omega. TS- We don’t really have to talk about the accolades of either men. They are two of the most successful and talented professional wrestlers of all time. This would be a dream rematch, but it became slightly more personal after Chris Jericho attacked Kenny Omega at All In, destroying him with a baseball bat. EX- And there you have it folks. We are about 5 minutes away from the start of the show here at the MGM Grand Arena, the arena is already packed to the gills full of passionate wrestling fans, excited for the 1st AEW show ever. TS- Don’t forget to order the Pay Per View on your cable box or if you are outside the US, to subscribe to Fite TV+ to watch the incredible action that will be on display tonight. My name was Tony Schiavone and on behalf of myself, Excalibur and everyone here in AEW, we hope that you truly enjoy the show! Qualifying Match for the AEW World Tag Team Titles tournament Best Friends vs Lucha Express vs The Hybrid2 vs Hostile Intent Hikaru Shida and Riho vs Kairi Hojo and Io Shirai Cheerleader Melissa and Canadian NINJAS vs Bea Priestley, Chelsea Green and Britt Baker Lucha Brothers vs The Young Bucks Bryan Danielson vs Blue Panther SCU Open Challenge Cody vs Dustin Rhodes Semi Finals in the AEW World Title Tournament “Hangman” Adam Page vs PAC Semi Finals in the AEW World Title Tournament Chris Jericho vs Kenny Omega

  8. April With AEW now a serious threat, WWE continues ro extend the contracts of some wrestlers. This month they were: Nia Jax, Scott Taylor, Mike Rome, Naomi, Isla Dawn, Jimmy Uso, Beth Phoenix, David Kapoor, Brennan Williams, Bo Dallas, Fabian Aichner Scott Hall has signed a Legends contract with WWE and looks like will be working mostly as a trainer down in NXT. With the help of DDP and the vigilance of Triple H, everyone expects him to be on his best behaviour. Tomasso Ciampa has suffered a serious blow this month. He was being featured quite nicely on the main roster but he suffered a Torn Rotator Cuff and is expected to be out for around a year. From what we could gather, there was a serious bidding war between AEW and WWE for two wrestlers: Buddy Murphy and Austin Creed aka Xavier Woods. Both wrestlers ended up resigning with WWE but AEW was really competitive in the bidding war, so much so that WWE feels like that they may have overpaid for two guys that they don’t see ever rising past midcard. Rumour has it that they are both earning around 600k a year, which is a lot and shows what another company with financial pull can do. Surprising absolutely nobody, Dustin Rhodes has signed an exclusive deal with AEW and has announced that he will be fighting Cody at Double or Nothing. 13. March AEW held one more press conference, once again from outside Daily’s Place. This time the host was Tony Schiavone, who confirmed that he had signed with the company as a backstage interviewer. We had a couple more matches set up for Double or Nothing, with Bryan Danielson challenging his, in his own words, “wrestling hero”, Blue Panther Jr. for a match at the PPV. SCU also issued an open challenge to any trio in the world to face them at the event. But the big news from that press conference came at the end. Prince Nana showed up and claimed that he was forming a New Embassy, and that he had just signed two of the top wrestlers in the world to his stable. And those wrestlers were Kairi Hojo and Io Shirai, in the two first defections from WWE to AEW. Nana challenged Japanese wrestlers Riho and Hikaru Shida for a match at Double or Nothing. WWE is clearly starting to feel like they just can’t coast anymore when it comes to their wrestlers contracts. Brock Lesnar resigned on an 8 figure deal this month, and Bayley was also given a multi-year deal that will amount to numbers in the 7 figures. They re-signed some more wrestlers down the card and in developmental, them being: Morgan Webster, Killian Dane, Killer Kelly. Heath Slater, Elias, Scott Armstrong, Fandango, Lince Dorado, Candice LeRae. Baron Corbin, Stacey Ervin Jr., Naomi. Two more veterans left WWE this month. One was completely unsurprising, with Dustin Rhodes seeing his contract expiring. With Cody as one of the heads of AEW, everyone knows that Dustin will be joining them sooner rather than later. The second one is a much more interesting figure. For years, William Regal was Triple H’s #2 at NXT, basically being Co-Head Trainer at the PC with Matt Bloom and being their head scout for independent talent, so it came as a huge surprise when it was revealed that he would not get a contract extension. With one of his main protogees Danielson at AEW, it would stand to reason that he would also join the Jacksonville company, but nothing is for certain at this point. New Japan also let a beloved member of their midcard leave, with Toru Yano becoming a free agent this month. With his more comedic approach to wrestling, he could very well join a company like DDT in the near future. In bad news for ROH, it looks like Jay Lethal suffered a major concussion during a taping of their TV show. There is no timetable for his return, but it could be up to a year for Lethal in the shelf. 16. February With the creation of AEW, WWE appears to be even more focused on retaining their talents. This month it was: Babatunde, Konnor, Raquel Gonzalez, D-Von Dudley, Natalya, Bray Wyatt, Jack Gallagher. From our sources, AEW was not interested in any of them NJPW also continues to restructure their roster, with the somewhat surprising news that Yuji Nagata will not be staying with the company. A former IWGP World Champion, Nagata was thought to have a job for life, and was expected to eventually transition to a road agent role. Gabe Sapolsky has decided to terminate his deal with WWE effective immediately. Gabe had been working backstage as a producer for NXT and was reportedly extremely unhappy with the call ups a couple of months ago. In a meeting with Triple H, he reportedly got into a huge argument with Hunter and just walked off from the company altogether. In a press conference held outside of Daily’s Place in Jacksonville, Tony Khan announced that the company would hold their 1st ever PPV on May 25, called Double or Nothing. We know for a fact that everyone that appeared in the press conference has signed exclusive deals with the company, and those include the 5 members of The Elite, Bryan Danielson, Chris Jericho, the Best Friends, the Canadian NINJAS, Britt Baker, Chelsea Green, WALTER and PAC. During the press conference, Tony Khan also announced that they would crown the 1st ever AEW Men’s World Champion at their 2nd event, All Out, at the end of September. There will be 2 qualifying matches for that match at Double or Nothing, those matches being PAC v Adam Page and Chris Jericho v Kenny Omega. Khan also hinted at some more names being announced as having signed exclusively with the company in the following weeks. We know that there are already ongoing talks between AEW and some major broadcasters, with some even speculating that they could have a TV show later this year. It was bold from them to announce everything without a deal in place, but they are confident that they will get a deal with ease. In maybe even more surprising news, The Undertaker and WWE have announced that he will be leaving them when his contract expires, early next month. This comes as a huge surprise given that everyone thought that he would retire with the WWE, but it seems that that will not be the case. Shingiro Takagi, after leaving DDT late last year, debuted in NJPW at this Wrestle Kingdom, teaming up with Ishii in a losing effort against Ibushi and Danielson. WWE has extended some more wrestlers: R-Truth, Xia Brookside, Mohamed Abdelfattah, BIllie Kay, Raul Mendoza And some more wrestlers leaving WWE: Paige, Wesley Blake, Wild Boar Big Events Results WWE Royal Rumble Ember Moon © beats Alexa Bliss - Smackdown Women’s Title (65) Maria Kanellis beats Mickie James (63) Apollo Crews beats Dash Wilder by CO - (71) Sheamus beats Kyle O’Reilly (70) Sami Zayn & The OC beat Mustafa Ali & The Hardy Boyz (70) Kane beats Xavier Woods by DQ (68) Gable & Roode beat The Singh Brothers © - RAW Tag Team Titles (71) Lana beats Charlotte Flair and Zelina Vega (74) Sasha Banks © beats Nikki Cross and Trish Stratus - (72) Rey Mysterio © beats Braun Strownman and Adam Cole - WWE Title (81) Roman Reigns wins the Men’s Royal Rumble (81) Ronda Rousey wins the Women’s Royal Rumble (76) NJPW Wrestle Kingdom Cody & Super 69 (ACH & Ryusuke Taguchi) beat YOSHI-HASHI & TenKoji (72) Toru Yano, Will Ospreay & Rocky Romero beat BUSHI, Adam Page & Yujiro Takahashi (71) Davey Boy Smith Jr. beats Yuji Nagata (70) SHO beats Tanga Loa (68) Minoru Suzuki beats Hirooki Goto (76) Kota Ibushi & Bryan Danielson beat Shingo Takagi & Tomohiro Ishii (91) Jay White © beats Kazuchika Okada - NEVER Openweight Title (97) Tetsuya Naito © beats Jushin Thunder Liger - IWGP United States Heavyweight Title (80) Hiroshi Tanahashi © beats EVIL - IWGP Heavyweight Title (85) NXT Takeover Raul Mendoza & Nick Miller beat Mars Wang & Rick Boogs (47) Kavita Devi beats Kayden Carter (43) EC3 & Team Zero Tolerance (Brennan Williams & Kona Reeves) beat Mansoor, Jaoude & Bononi by DQ (49) Vanessa Borne beat Dakota Kai and Jessamyn Duke (65) Kairi Sane & Reina González beat Tegan Nox & Xia Li by DQ (67) Lorcan & Burch © beat Marcel Barther & Fabian Aichner - NXT Tag Team Titles (66) Candice LeRae beats Shayna Baszler © in a Dog Collar Match - NXT Women’s Title (58) Otis beats Hanson © in a Tables Match - NXT North American Title (59) Bobby Fish © beats Shane Thorne, Tucker and Donovan Dijakovic - NXT Title (65) ROH Honor Reigns Supreme Kenny King beats Will Ferrara in a Ladder Match (36) Karen Q beats Kelly Klein, Brandi Rhodes and Jenny Rose in a Cage Match (37) Mandy Leon & Faye Jackson beat Sumie Sakai & Scarlett Bordeaux in a Ladder Match (36) Chris Sabin, Marty Scrull & Caprice Coleman beat Brent Tate & The Brain Damagers (56) Will Ospreay & Jonathan Gresham beat Silas Young & Flip Gordon (59) Tenille Dashwood © beats Amazing Kong and Madison Rayne - ROH Women’s World Title (47) The Briscoes © beat Scorpio Sky & Matt Taven - ROH World Tag Team Titles (53) Bully Ray beats Christopher Daniels (57) Colt Cabana © beats Jay Lethal - ROH World Title (64) IMPACT Homecoming Alexxis Neveah beats Cody Deaner (34) Shera beats The King and Katarina Waters (59) Taya Valkyrie & The Cult of Lee (Trevor Lee & Caleb Konley) beat Tommy Dreamer & Wild & Wicked (Allie & Jimmy Jacobs) (55) Santa & Ortiz © beat Petey Williams & Mojo Rawley - IMPACT World Tag Team Titles (57) The Troop (Killer Kross & Sami Callhan) beat Eli Drake & Tyrus and Brian Cage & Rosemary (63) Eddie Edwards beats Jake Crist (65) The Troop (Tessa Blanchard & Alberto El Patrón) beat Moose & Rey Fénix (77) Rich Swann © beats Pentagón Jr. - IMPACT X-Division Title (79) Johnny Impact beats Matt Sydal © in a Cage Match - IMPACT World Title (80)

  22. December The WWE continues their wave of resignings, this time resigning 16 wrestlers, them being: Dana Brooke, Joseph Conners, MJ Jenkins, Booker T, Kaitlyn, Cedric Alexander, Keith Lee, Rowe, Rick Boogs, Mars Wang, Shawn Michaels, Harv Shira, Taynari Conti, Akam, Sheamus Without any surprise, they have also decided to let the contract of Rhyno expire. Rhyno had a solid run in both NXT and WWE, working with some undercard folk, notably Heath Slater. It appears to have been a mutual decision and the doors are always open for a short return. In the biggest news coming out of New Japan in recent months, Zack Sabre Jr. did not have his contract resigned. He had a pretty significant injury a couple of months ago and a decision was made to not resign the contract of Sabre Jr., who was viewed one time as a future top gaijin in the company. Zack still has several months of recovery ahead of him and only time will tell where he ends up. WWE was obviously very interested in signing him when he participated in the Cruiserweight Classic, so that is always an option for the Brit.
