Diego Costa has been charged by The FA for violent conduct following an on-field incident which was not seen by the match officials but caught on video.

The charge is in relation to an incident involving the Chelsea forward and Liverpool’s Emre Can which occurred in the 12th minute of the League Cup semi-final second leg at Stamford Bridge last night [Tuesday 27 January 2015].

The player has until 6pm on Thursday 29 January 2015 to respond to the charge.

Following a review of an incident during the game involving Costa and Liverpool’s Martin Skrtel, The FA will not be taking any further action.

Estou a gostar.

Pessoal do Utd, alguém me pode explicar quem é o andreas pereira???

I rate him incredibly highly, but I don't agree that his development is going steadily. For me, he's been at approximately the same level for a good year and a half now.

The thing is that talent-wise, he's lightyears ahead of everyone else. Let's not forget this kid played his first U21s game as a 16-year-old. He's been way ahead of his age group for his entire career. Now that was always going to ease off a bit as he progressed through the age groups, and the physical element became more important. But in terms of his own development, I do sense a risk of him stalling.

His actual football is all there. Dribbling, stunning. Control and passing, superb. Vision, intelligence, creativity, all there. Shots from range, obviously. And that brilliant, aggressive tackling is lovely to see from such a flair player.

But he's been at roughly that level for a while now, and the questions about consistency, application and forcing himself into a game are the same ones that we were asking a year ago. He still sometimes plays games where you barely see him. Even when he has a good game he's often not the main man for United. Sometimes he seems to just produce little cameos, a bit of skill, a mazy run or a wonderful effort on goal, and then disappear for another fifteen minutes before the next. These are criticisms that it would be ridiculous to level against most 18-year-olds but then he isn't most 18-year-olds - he was doing things most 18-year-olds (even most of United's 18-year-olds) can only dream of at the age of 16.

For me, it's crucial that he starts to show the mentality to match his prodigious talent now. This season, straight away. Because however wonderful his little moments, they won't demand a place in the first team for him the way consistently dominating games will. Look at Januzaj - at every level he's encountered at United, he's made himself the key player within a year, often much less. Even in the first team he's already put in a fistful of MOTM performances. That's what wins you a chance in the first team. Moments of wonderful skill and vision are great for us, the people who watch him week-in week-out, but it won't be the sort of thing that forces LVG to give him a chance with the big boys.

And as we know, when youngsters can't force their way onto the next level, stagnation very quickly becomes a big risk. And that would be a travesty for a player as exceptional as Pereira.

tl;dr: He's been impressing like this for a year and a half at least. He needs to start dominating games, putting in MOTM performances and making it impossible for the coaches to ignore him for a first-team opportunity, or he risks stagnating.
