Intervalo e os Nets perdem por 16 ...

 

- Nada de anormal!, dir?o voc?s. Pois bem, enganam-se. Esta fabulosa equipa tem sempre algo de novo e fascinante para oferecer. Desta vez, cometeram a proeza de somar uns estonteantes 11 pontos no 1? per?odo para um total de 31 em toda a primeira parte.

 

Ah, e Vince Carter conseguiu n?o fazer qualquer ponto!

fonix nao vi o jogo.. mas isto ja ta a passar os limites do real... uma equipa como os nets, que eu acho que ate ? boa.. perde assim jogos por carradas de pontos de diferen?a..

ontem tive a ver no site da nba o Charles Barkley e o Magic Johnson :prayer: a falarem no nba tnt overtime ou la como se chama..

falaram sobre o carter.. e dizem que ele nao consegue fazer aqueles powerdunks por causa de problemas nos joelhos.. ja so faz layups..e vai atirando de longe... eles dizem que um jogador como o carter quando se ve com uma lesao como a dele.. nunca mais faz nada de jeito, e dizem que os nets precisavam do Carter superstar... mas que esse ja nao existe.. pelo menos pelo que se tem visto ( e isto sao palavras deles)

e mesmo olhando para ele a jogar.. pelo pouco que vi,, ele nao tem alegria ao jogar

mas agora quem o vai querer, para fazer uma troca vantajosa para os nets.. visto que ele ja nao ? o jogador de outros tempos...

O Dalembert ainda ? o mais regular a seguir ao Iguodala. N?o sei mesmo como ? que ele se aguenta com tantos minutos e tanta regularidade. O Miller ? demasiado inconstante e j? n?o ? propriamente um jovem.

Quanto aos tr?s pontos, quando t?nhamos o Kyle j? n?o aproveit?vamos, quanto mais agora...

James, esteve em alto n?vel, Gooden n?o esteve bem ontem, fez muitos turnovers no ataque, Gibson muito bem, tal como Hughes (finalmente o Hughes de outros tempos), Varej?o normal, e Jones a jogar ma:s do que o que costuma. Brown cada vez a subir mais de forma. Do Newble, apesar de ter iniciado o jogo, n?o fez muito.

 

Merecem todas as considera??es positivas os Cavs para o jogo de ontem. Foi pena o festival de triplos dos Suns. Agora frente a Portland ? para ganhar!

Nets road woes continue

DENVER -- There's not much this road trip is good for at this point, unless you want to conduct an experiment of how far a team can fall behind -- night after wretched night -- before collapsing in exhaustion as it mounts the obligatory, but futile, comeback.

 

It was the same deal here last night, when Allen Iverson and the Nuggets toyed with the Nets all night, got bored after building massive leads, and then put them out of their misery by scoring a 100-85 triumph at Pepsi Arena.

 

That's eight straight defeats.

 

And where it stops, nobody knows.

 

Even worse, sometimes they play as though they don't care about when it will all end. That would be the only logical conclusion one can make about a team that falls behind by 19 in the first half and by 22 midway through the third period before it decides to play.

 

"What it is seven games in a row, eight? That's a lot of games to lose in a row," said Josh Boone, who had his usual double-double (13 points, 14 boards). "We were above .500 and now we're seven games below (18-25). We have a lot of work. It's obviously frustrating, but we're professionals and we have to keep our minds focused on what we need to do to get out of it."

 

This is not how you do it, however.

 

Indeed, the Oakland-to-Denver back-to-back is notoriously difficult because of the 4 a.m. arrival and time zone shift, so the Nets knew that energy would be difficult to sustain at both ends. At times, they were successful.

 

But that was after falling into a 67-45 sinkhole with 4:50 left in the third quarter -- their answer was a formidable 22-6 counterpunch in which Vince Carter hit all five of his field goals and scored 11 of his 13 points.

 

And then they faced an 85-67 deficit four minutes into the fourth period, which they met with perseverance, as an Antoine Wright-led run got them all the way back within 90-85 with 3:46 left before their offense evaporated entirely.

 

Sure, they played hard.

 

But only to avoid utter humiliation.

 

"We fought again tonight," said Jason Kidd, who recorded the 11th triple-double of the season, and the 98th of his career (13 points, 11 boards, 10 assists). "You just have to keep working at it and find a way to get off the schneid.

 

"I don't think it was so much a lack of energy. I think we got off to a slow start. Then we cut it to five and again we had the opportunity for it to go either way. And we just lost control of the game at that point."

 

It wasn't so much losing control as it was a collapse from exhaustion. Less than 22 hours after fighting Golden State to the wire, the Nets had nothing left after climbing within five, and they shot 0-for-7 with two turnovers to finish off this game.

 

Along the way, they defended well enough. But Iverson (30 points) was in full strut for most of the night, and Linas Kleiza (23 points, 11 boards) and Kenyon Martin (20 points, seven boards) just took turns punishing the Nets from inside and out.

 

And while both teams shot miserably, the Nuggets were a plus-23 at the foul line, deserved every last one of them, and scored 18 points off 20 Nets turnovers.

 

The only thing the Nets did right was not quit. But that doesn't really account for much for a team in free fall. And when they're bad, they're truly inept: By halftime last night, the Nets were shooting 30 percent from the field with 11 turnovers, and outscored 18-2 at the line.

 

"We couldn't hit a shot early," Richard Jefferson (19 points) said. "And I wasn't aggressive enough."

 

George Karl, garrulous as always, tried to sound sympathetic as he pondered how pathetic his opponent has been of late.

 

"My impression is they have time to figure it out," the Nuggets coach said before the game. "And I don't think any team -- especially with Carter, Kidd and (Richard) Jefferson -- are that far from turning it.

 

"They're a playoff team. The thing is, you get into the playoffs and figure out how to play your best basketball in the middle of April. And they have plenty of talent and time to do that."

 

And plenty of bad karma, still waiting to be burned off.
