Jason Williams is seriously considering a return to the NBA less than a year after retiring following a career that saw him play with Sacramento, Memphis, Miami and the Clippers.

 

"The free agency period opens up July 1, and I should be good to go then," Williams told the Daily Mail.

 

"If I do decide to play, I'd like to play two or three more years. That's about it.

 

"I'm not 100 percent that I'll play again, but it's more than 50/50 that I'm going to try. But if it doesn't happen, trust me, I won't lose any sleep."

The draft is fast approaching, and as much as the Cavaliers have been actively engaging in multiple levels of trade options with other teams, and free agent strategizing ...the first thing on the agenda is getting ready for the upcoming draft, and finding out as much as we can about draft prospects, and then seeing if anyone might be worth going up and getting.

 

I can say that we have scouted on all levels for this draft. We've actively searched the entire gambot to try and see if someone exists that could help us longterm, and if a special player exists, we very well may be looking to get ourselves an improved position in this draft to go get a certain player of interest.

 

My personal opinion is that the odds of us moving up and getting ourselves in a higher slot to grab a player of interest is better this year than any previous year that the Ferry front office has been at work planning for trhe draft.

 

I would actually be somewhat surprised ,at this point, if we don't ultimately move up and get one of a handful of players that has stood out and we feel could have an impact in the near future, and fits a demographic that this team needs injected into it for the longterm.

 

We may not be looking at a profound move into the top 5, but I could see us getting into the teens, with one of the teams looking to possibly move out of the draft.

 

We have options at our disposal that could allow us to move into a more favorable position without putting in jeopardy the strengths on our roster as it stands now.

 

This draft is far from the strongest ...it is a good draft in regards to some positions like PG, but for the most part I believe that the talent level at the back third of the 1st round could be often times be found in the second round in many drafts of the past.

 

This doesn't mean that we can't find quality NBA talent throughout the two rounds of drafted players, just means they are going to be fewer and farther between what we've seen in other drafts.

 

As far as PG goes, we could find some bargains slipping into the second round, actually. Just due to the numbers of quality points, and the limited needs throughout the NBA.

 

At this particular point in time in the NBA, we have numerous PG's floating around in free agency that offer quality, and many more entering into the league through the draft, which really lends itself for some interesting scenarios developing where a PG might slip deep into the 2nd round that is clearly superior to the other talents avialable in the draft that play other positions.

 

Not a good year to be a point guard coming into the NBA is basically what I'm saying.

 

But, the Cavs are looking to get a PG at somne point in this draft, and I'm comfortable saying that only because of the multitude available, and it won't effect our strategy this year at all to say it beforehand. So, I can say I think at some point in the 2 rounds of this draft we will get a pg most likely, and it should be a bargain selection wherever we make that particular selection.

 

But, we also have other needs, but, we may not necassarily look to, or have to draft for a particular need. If a certain player stands out and is available at a point we can move up and grab that particular player, we will use some thngs we have at our disposal to do just that. Move up and grab him.

 

We have two levels of roster development we are actively and aggressively engagaing in simultaneously at this point in time.

 

We are looking to build a win now roster of players, but also actively build a strong core of developmental longterm pieces that will be able to move in and claim future rotational roles on this team once they come available later on down the road.

 

Darnell Jackson represents one player that will likely begin to see active rotational minutes this coming season. Behind him we have JJ Hickson who we still are looking at to eventually claim an active role on this team as a low post presence both offensively and defensively.

 

This draft offers another opportunity to add to that developmental core of players, and that is how we are looking at this years draft prospects. Not pieces that we need to come right in to fill rotational positons on this roster in the here and now, but more fixtures that we can forecast to having the highest ceilings later on when we might need them.

 

So, in trying to predict where we might go and who we might be interested in, in this coming draft, factor in what I've said here into the equation.

 

Lots of good solid draft propects exist in this draft, and should be available in the teens that look very promising as one of the following ...SG, Swing, SF/PF combo's.

 

We like versatility players that could project in multiple roles given we have a roster with Lebron James on it, that can also play multiple roles. Having athletes that project in multiple roles will work well with him, and help our coaches with options as well.

 

That's about all I can throw at you now in getting ready for what comes on draft night... I'll try and be around as well on draft day, but can't say I'll be able to be around much during the draft, but I'll try and pop in at some point if not that night, the next morning/afternoon.

Chad Ford: The Bucks look like they're sitting pretty good at No. 10. One of the point guards that they like -- whether it's Jonny Flynn, Jrue Holiday, Jeff Teague or Brandon Jennings -- should be there when they draft. In fact, it's possible all of them will be there.

 

With that in mind, the Bucks are bringing back Flynn, Jennings, Lawson and Teague early next week for another big workout.

 

I think Milwaukee's board looks like this right now going into that workout:

 

1. Jordan Hill

2. Holiday

3. Flynn

4. Teague

5. Jennings

6. Lawson

 

Holiday won't be in the workout, but maybe he doesn't need to be at this point. The other four rankings could change based on what happens on Monday.

O ala-armador J. R. Smith, do Denver Nuggets, vai passar 30 dias na prisão por ter provocado um acidente de carro em 2007 ao ultrapassar um sinal vermelho e colidir em um outro carro. Na colisão, seu amigo André Bell, de 21 anos, morreu.

 

O atleta, companheiro do brasileiro Nenê, havia sido sentenciado a 90 dias, mas a juíza do caso converteu dois terços da pena em serviços comunitários. As informações são da agência de notícias Reuters.

 

Smith está preso desde terça-feira em uma cadeia em Nova Jersey. A carteira de motorista do atleta também foi caçada por dois anos.
