Ora bem, vamos começar pelo treinador. Está tudo encaminhado para o Hiddink ser oficializado na próxima semana, em principio. A última notícia que saiu foi esta e é das fontes mais credíveis. Melhor escolha seria impossível. Sem falar que já mostrou resultados no Chelsea.

 

Em relação aos reforços, eu vejo a situação mais "negra". Ao que tudo indica, o CFC não está muito interessado em comprar alguém para a defesa. Por isso esquece o holandês. Só querem comprar três jogadores e tudo para o ataque. É pena, uma vez que vamos ter de aguentar mais um ano com o Bosingwa.

 

Possíveis reforços:

 

• Ardan Turan - Na CS fala-se que o Hiddink pediu para comprarem o turco. Não tenho opinião formada sobre ele.
  
• Lukaku - Se tudo correr bem, não tarda é oficializado.
  
• Modric - Este é o maior problema. O Chelsea já apresentou uma proposta - ridícula segundo o treinador dos Spurs - de 22M€ e foi rejeitada. O pior é que o Manchester United também o quer e parece que o Modric prefere o Manchester. Pois bem, sendo assim, quem é que vão buscar para médio? Sneijder? Não me parece. À primeira vista, só sobra o Hamsik.
  

Sobre o Neymar, o Chelsea já veio dizer que não vai bater a cláusula e é um negócio demasiado caro e arriscado. Vê esta notícia.

Mas alguém vai bater a cláusula do Neymar? Só se não estiverem bem da cabeça, sinceramente. 45M é uma javardice de dinheiro por um gajo que é perigosamente parecido com o Robinho. Eles já o devem vender por uns 30-35M e já é muito bem esgalhado.

 

O Turan é suposto ser o tal gajo que desequilibra a partir da ala? É que se for... é curtinho. Preferia muito mais que se investisse nota da séria nesta posição a escolher um gajo mais em conta que acaba por ser banal a este nível. Para isso, há o Sturridge no plantel que já tem experiência na PL e qualidade comprovada.

 

O Lukaku é um óptimo jogador, pelo que já vi dele, mas não vejo necessidade de o ter agora. Seria banco do Torres e do Drog, e provavelmente, a jogar em 4-3-3 (como me parece ser a grande possibilidade), teria a desvantagem de só jogar no meio.

 

Modric: quero, gosto, pode vir. O Hamsik não serve, é tesão de mijo. Deviam de tentar o Pastore antes de ir ao Hamsik.

Pelo que leio, o Santos só o vende por 30 e poucos milhões. Mas não me admirava nada que o Neymar fosse vendido pela cláusula ao Real. Eu não o quero por nada no Chelsea. Até pode vir a dar craque mas é demasiado arriscado e o clube precisa é de jogadores feitos.

 

Eu, honestamente, ainda tenho esperança que o Abra decida comprar o Mata, por exemplo.

 

Epá, mas o Pastore nunca na vida vem para Londres. O Real e o Barça estão interessados nele e não vejo o argentino a rejeitar os dois clubes para vir para cá.

O Pastore, ou alguém nos seus moldes, seria o tipo de jogador que podia matar dois coelhos de uma vez: seria mais um elemento para trabalhar o jogo curto a meio campo e a poder desequilibrar se partir de terrenos mais avançados. Que é algo que nem o Modric é capaz de fazer, porque joga essencialmente muito recuado, quase como construtor atrasado à lá Pirlo.

Club statement: McLeish confirmed as new Villa manager

Alex McLeish appointed boss.

 

 

The Club are pleased to confirm that Alex McLeish has been appointed Aston Villa manager and will assume his duties with immediate effect.

 

The 52-year-old son of a Govan shipyard worker, McLeish began his managerial career in 1994 at Motherwell whom he guided in his first season to second place behind Rangers, then in the midst of their nine-in-a-row Scottish titles.

 

Following a three-year spell in charge of Hibernian, which included a Scottish Cup final appearance, he took over at Rangers where he unseated Martin O'Neill's then dominant Celtic team by winning the Scottish Cup and League Cup in his first season in 2001-02 and the Treble - including the Scottish Premier League title - in his second.

 

He won two championships and seven trophies in total in his five years at Ibrox before succeeding Walter Smith as Scotland boss in 2007.

 

Only a 2-1 win by Italy at Hampden Park in the final qualifying game prevented McLeish from leading his country to the Euro 2008 finals.

 

He pursued his ambition to manage in the Barclays Premier League and led Birmingham City to their highest top-flight finish in 51 years in 2009-10.

 

When his team beat Arsenal to win the Carling Cup four months ago at Wembley he became one of the only current managers in the Barclays Premier League who has won a major piece of silverware.

 

That Alex McLeish is a well-respected, well-rounded and accomplished football man is not in question.

 

As a formidable central defender in Sir Alex Ferguson's Aberdeen team which broke the Old Firm's stranglehold on Scottish football, he won three championships, the European Cup Winners' Cup and the European Super Cup.

 

He was also capped 77 times by Scotland and played at three World Cups and throughout his playing and managerial careers he has maintained an unfailing grace and humility and an unflinching will to win.

 

He also understands and supports the Board's vision and strategy for Aston Villa in our ongoing efforts to grow the Club and to ensure its sustainability and he is determined to confront the challenges of managing the Club.

 

He said: "I am honoured to have this opportunity to manage a club with such a fantastic history as Aston Villa's.

New fixtures released

The eagerly-awaited fixtures for the 2011/12 Barclays Premier League season have now been released.

 

 

The new campaign kicks off on Saturday 13th August. Champions Manchester United begin the defence of their Barclays Premier League title away to West Bromwich Albion.

 

Runners-up Chelsea begin away to Stoke City.

 

Newly-promoted Swansea City play their first ever fixture in the Premier League away to Manchester City.

 

 

Neil Warnock's Queens Park Rangers host Bolton Wanderers while Norwich City go to Wigan Athletic.

Newcastle United meet Arsenal at St James' Park in a re-run of last season's thrilling 4-4 draw.

 

Liverpool are at home to Sunderland while Craven Cottage sees a match between two new managers as Fulham take on Aston Villa.

 

Everton go to Tottenham Hotspur while Blackburn Rovers face Wolverhampton Wanderers - just as they did on the final day of the 2010/11 campaign, although this time at Ewood Park.

 

KEY MATCHES

Fans will be keen to see the key matches between the teams who finished in the top four last season, although fixture dates are still subject to change.

 

The first of these is currently scheduled for the third weekend of the season when Arsenal go to Manchester United.

 

It is a tough start for the Gunners who host Liverpool a week earlier.

 

The first meeting between last season's top two comes at Old Trafford on 17th September.

 

INTRIGUING FINALE

The season boils up to an intriguing finale with champions Manchester United going to Sunderland and Chelsea hosting Blackburn.

 

Manchester City finish at home to QPR, Arsenal go to West Brom, Spurs host Fulham and Liverpool go to Swansea.

Os responsáveis do Manchester City estarão alegadamente interessados em trocar o internacional argentino Carlos Tevez pelo avançado Samuel Etoo, do Inter.

 

De acordo com o Corriere dello Sport, os dirigentes do City estão ao corrente do interesse de Etoo em jogar em Inglaterra e para convencerem o Inter a ceder o jogador estariam disponíveis para incluir o passe de Tevez no negócio.
