Yao Could Miss 09-10 Season, Career In Jeopardy

 

Yao Ming could miss the entire 2009-10 season and his career could even be in jeopardy, according to a report from Yahoo!

 

“The realization has hit them that this is grave,” one NBA general manager said.

 

The Rockets have privately told league peers it could be a full season before Yao might be able to return to basketball. Multiple league executives, officials close to Yao and two doctors with knowledge of the diagnoses are describing a troubling re-fracture of his navicular bone. Three pins were inserted a year ago, but the foot cracked in the playoffs and isn’t healing.

 

“It sounds like he’s missing most of next season, if not the entire 82 games,” one league executive who has had recent discussions with the Houston front office told Yahoo! Sports. “That’s all that [the Rockets] will concede quietly, but they know it’s probably much worse.”

 

Daryl Morey declined comment on the story on Monday

The Milwaukee Bucks have made qualifying offers to restricted free agent guard Ramon Sessions and forward Ersan Ilyasova, but will not make an offer to forward Charlie Villanueva -- allowing one of their top scorers from last season to become an unrestricted free agent.

 

Meanwhile, the team also is dealing with a potentially embarrassing YouTube moment from first-round draft pick Brandon Jennings.

 

Bucks general manager John Hammond said Monday that the team already had sent offers to Sessions and Ilyasova, giving Milwaukee the right to match any contract offers from other teams. But with Tuesday's deadline for teams to make offers to their restricted free agents looming, the team decided not to make an offer to Villanueva.

 

Posting on his Twitter account Monday evening, Villanueva noted that "my journey in Milwaukee has come to (an) end," thanking fans and Bucks owner Sen. Herb Kohl for "three great years."

 

With a mid-level exception at their disposal, the Cleveland Cavaliers are expected to have interest in signing Villanueva -- and the interest sounds mutual. Perhaps anticipating his free agency, Villanueva posted Sunday that "Cleveland fans are showing me mad love on twitter, appreciate the love."

BRCC, acho que restricted quer dizer que o jogador está na equipa e tem um certo tempo para renovar (not sure). Unrestricted o jogador é mesmo FA.

Quando é restricted basta a equipa oferecer o mesmo que os outros e o jogador fica. Se houver outra equipa a oferecer mais, o jogador pode sair.
