Nunca passa disso.

The Boston Celtics and Chicago Bulls have shown “serious interest” in free-agent forward Josh Howard, a league source told Yahoo! Sports.

While the Bulls could have the salary-cap space to sign Howard, depending on what happens with their offer sheet to J.J. Redick, the Celtics would need a sign-and-trade to arrange a deal because they have already used their midlevel exception on Jermaine O’Neal.

Howard has yet to receive a contract offer. The Washington Wizards also have some interest in re-signing Howard.

Bryant, most of '08 team to skip Turkey

Los Angeles Lakers guard Kobe Bryant is taking a break from basketball this summer.

In an interview with AOL Fanhouse on Monday, USA Basketball chairman Jerry Colangelo said Bryant, as well as every other player on the 2008 Olympic team except for Deron Williams and Chris Paul, will not compete in the FIBA World Championships in Turkey.

"It's a combination of three things: free agency, injuries and having gone hard for a long time,'' Colangelo said. "And I'm OK with that."

Bryant had not decided whether he would play before leaving for South Africa to attend the World Cup, but hinted it was time for a break after his exit interview two weeks ago.

"We've been in the Finals now three years in a row," he said. "We've been playing a great deal of basketball, so, this summer for me is about getting healthy. I think that will give us the best opportunity to defend our title again."

Bryant said he planned to meet with the Lakers' medical staff to evaluate his body and he expected to have surgery on his right index finger, which has developed arthritis in the knuckle after he fractured it in December.

"There will be something invasive; I don't expect it to be anything major," Bryant said about the surgery. "The finger was a constant problem [this season]."

Bryant's decision could have been influenced by his on-court sidekick Pau Gasol, who announced on his website before Game 1 of the Finals that he would not play for his home country of Spain this summer to rest his hamstrings that caused him to miss 17 regular-season games in 2009-10.

In February, Lakers forward Lamar Odom was invited by Colangelo to try out for the team and expects to make it.

"I'm going to stay sharp, stay prepared and I'm going to have a little help with that because I'm going to go play in these World Championship games," Odom told reporters about his summer plans after his exit interview with the Lakers. "I am [looking forward to it]. Travel is always the best education I receive. To be able to play basketball and see different places, I'm always for that, [and] you represent your country."

There will be a training camp July 19-24 in Las Vegas to pare down the USA roster from 31 to 12. The World Championships run from Aug. 28-Sept. 12.

Sobre os FA:

According to a source, Fish says no to Heat

Yahoo! Sports: A source close to Derek Fisher said he’s confident the free-agent guard will re-sign with the Los Angeles Lakers instead of going to the Miami Heat. Fisher reportedly received a $2.5 million offer for next season from the Lakers. He has been seeking a two-year contract with a starting salary closer to the $5 million he made last season

Fisher returns to Lakers

Derek Fisher has decided to stay with the Los Angeles Lakers.

Credit Kobe Bryant with the assist.

"I have decided to continue with Kobe, continue with our teammates and the fans of Los Angeles," Fisher said in a statement. "While this may not be the most lucrative contract I've been offered this offseason, it is the most valuable. I am confident I will continue to lead this team on and off the court. Let the hunt for six begin."

The Lakers have won two straight titles and five in Fisher's tenure with the team.

Fisher, 35, had been courted by the Miami Heat. He met with Miami president Pat Riley and owner Micky Arison at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Miami on Saturday morning where the Heat told him it wanted him to be its starting point guard and to join LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh.

"I took time to consider all my options, many not reported in the media," Fisher said. "I listened to every coach, every general manager, even potential teammates in order to make the right decision and I thank every one of them. At the end of the day, there's one person I could not turn away from.

"Kobe Bryant asked me to stay but supported whatever decision I made. He and I have played together for 11 seasons, came into the league together as kids, and has been loyal to me even when others had doubts. We have won five championships together."

The Lakers had been in constant contact with Fisher and his representative Rob Pelinka since the free-agent negotiating period opened on July 1, although negotiations had proceeded slowly but amicably.

Fisher averaged 7.5 points and 2.5 assists per game last season, but he stepped up with some big shots in the playoffs, especially against the Celtics in the NBA Finals.

Haslem on Mike Miller: "That's my boy from day one. . . That's my college roommate. He's like Dwyane is to me, just a different color."

Haslem just told me deal is for five years, which pushes the money closer to $20M.

The Udonis Haslem deal got done because he wanted it done, the Heat wanted it done and Dwyane Wade wanted it done. http://bit.ly/ax6V6w

Haslem email to Sun Sentinel, and, therefore, Heat fans: "Turned down full mid level from Dallas and Denver. See u next season."

Just heard from Udonis Haslem. He has turned down far larger deals from the Nuggets and Mavericks . . . and will be back with the Heat!
