Bobcats owner Michael Jordan may be past his basketball prime these days, but evidently not that far past it.

 

"He's Mike. He's been kicking our (rear ends)," Bobcats captain Gerald Wallace said Thursday after Jordan participated in the team's practice again.

 

"He still has it. He doesn't have his quickness, but he's a scorer, he's a shooter. The last thing to go is your jump shot, and he still has that."

 

Jordan, who will turn 48 next week, wore an orange jersey during practice and iced both knees when he was finished. Asked if the orange jersey meant Jordan got special treatment on the court, Wallace said no.

 

"We don't treat him like a quarterback out here. We hit him," Wallace said of the Hall of Famer, who did not speak to reporters. "It just means he's on third string."

 

Bobcats coach Paul Silas laughed at the suggestion Jordan was a third-stringer on the team he owns. Silas said he likes that Jordan holds the players accountable when he practices with them, and Jordan uses it as a teaching opportunity, particularly how to play defense and communicate. The intensity level, Silas said, rises when Jordan participates.

 

"Guys work a little bit harder when he's out here, and rightly so, because he's working hard," Silas said "He's doing a job on them if they're not right. You're not going to let him do a job on you if you've got any pride."

 

How much does Jordan have left?

 

"He still can shoot the basketball like unbelievable, and he can move well, but at his age he couldn't do it substantially enough for a long period of time," Silas said. "But for a short period of time, he can get it done."

Se ganharmos já ficamos 1.5 jogos à frente deles, bem bom para quem chegou a estar a 4 há não muito tempo.

 

Acho que é a segunda vez esta época que estamos no topo da Conferência, mas da outra vez foi por um jogo ou assim. Vai ser um jogo importante, e espero que um grande jogo.
