Dear Mr Lerner and members of the board,

 

I am sure that you are fully aware of the fans feelings at present and I hope behind the scenes you are equally angry and frustrated at the way this season has panned out to date.

 

Looking at the season to date as a whole, there are clearly a number of factors in finding ourselves in a genuine relegation battle. There are a number of people who take a portion of the blame, and without being privy to the conversations and relationships behind the scenes it is guesswork to attempt to accurately apportion blame. All that said and acknowledged, we are where we are and while it may be admirable to stay loyal and urge supporters to stick with the team and manager, I believe you are taking a huge gamble with the future of the club in appearing to have blind faith in Gerard Houllier. I know you would not come out and openly criticise the manager but the situation is serious and while behind the scenes this may be being acknowledged, the damage being done on a weekly basis by the managers flippant and rose tinted view of the situation is embarrassing.

I have supported the club since the mid seventies and seen several highs and lows, part of which makes this club the great sporting institution that it is, but in my memory I am struggling to recall another manager who has so badly misjudged the fans, shown so little passion, or sought to blame others so blatantly for his mistakes or inabilities. Gerard Houllier's failure to even appear bothered in the slightest only adds to the frustration at the situation, yet he seems oblivious the impact his interviews and comments have. He is simply a public relations disaster. Liverpool, Man City(twice) and now his comments after the Wolves match show how out of touch this man now is. To say we played well and deserved an equaliser is not a true reflection. To put it into context, with the squad we have, full of internationals, playing at home to a Wolves team who have only won one away game previously this season, and fighting relegation themselves, playing well and deserving an equaliser is way below what realistic expectations should be. If and it's a big if, we had played well and lost to a better team then fair enough but despite it being a derby game this is a game we should have won. I can put up with losing, it happens, but to then have the manager try to defend it and himself by claiming again we were unlucky is just too much.

We were meant to be well rested and all working together and pulling in the same direction after waving the white flag in the FA Cup( a disgrace in it's own right) and our team bonding session, but we weren't.

On the whole we are playing in a negative fashion, yes we pass it about well in the middle but we have lost our cutting edge, quite how is beyond me given the attacking talent we have, and our defence has gone from being one of the most consistent and organised to the shambles it now appears to be. Certainly players have to take some responsibility for this change and some need to take a look at themselves more than others, but ultimately the manager is responsible. The manager sets the standards, expectations and culture at the club and right now that seems to be falling apart in front of our eyes, with no sign of it improving.

Given how much you and the fellow board members have done for this club, and I for one am delighted to have you at the club, I urge you to think long and hard about the future of this great club. I believe you have the best interests of the club at heart, I fear however that you will be left picking up the pieces of Mr. Houllier's legacy while he saunters off into retirement without a care in the world.

Man. United: Nova lesão para Hargreaves

O internacional inglês Owen Hargreaves continua em maré de azar e sofreu uma nova lesão durante o treino do Manchester United.

 

Hargreaves, de 30 anos, contraiu uma lesão nos ligamentos do ombro e os testes iniciais apontam para uma paragem de quatro semanas.

 

O médio, que tem sofrido sucessivas lesões nos joelhos e graves problemas musculares, disputou o seu último jogo em Setembro de 2008.

Fàbregas sai ileso a acidente de viação


Cesc Fàbregas teve esta segunda-feira um enorme susto. O médio do Arsenal sofreu um acidente de viação em Londres, mas escapou ileso.

Tudo aconteceu de manhã, quando o internacional espanhol deslocava-se para o centro de treinos dos gunners.

“A polícia foi chamada às 9h53 desta manhã, com referência a um acidente entre dois veículos. Não houve pedido de atendimento médico”, esclareceu um porta-voz da polícia local.

Por precaução, o capitão do Arsenal foi posteriormente examinado pelo departamento médico. Não detetado qualquer problema, Fàbregas treinou sem qualquer limitação.

Nani nomeado para Melhor Jogador Jovem do Ano

EXTREMO NA LISTA DE SETE "FINALISTAS"

 

Nani é um dos nomeados da Associação de Futebolistas Profissionais (PFA) para o título de Melhor Jogador Jovem do Ano na Premier League.

 

O extremo do Man. United é um dos sete nomes escolhidos pelo organismo, ao lado de Gareth Bale (Tottenham), Seamus Coleman (Everton), Joe Hart (Man. City), Javier Hernandez (Man. United), Samir Nasri (Arsenal) e Jack Wilshere (Arsenal).

 

Quanto ao galardão para o Melhor Jogador do Ano, são sete os escolhidos, com Samir Nasri (Arsenal) e Gareth Bale (Tottenham) a repetirem a presença.

 

Os restantes elementos são: Scott Parker (West Ham), Carlos Tevez (Man. City), Rafael Van der Vaart (Tottenham), Nemanja Vidic (Man. United) e Charlie Adam (Blackpool).

Kuszczak anuncia saída do Man. United
GUARDA-REDES DIZ-SE "DESILUDIDO"

Que Edwin van der Sar, guarda-redes do Manchester United, se vai retirar não é surpresa. O guardião holandês anunciou o abandono ao futebol no final da época passada e irá cumprir com a sua palavra.

Contudo, a novidade passa pelo facto de Tomasz Kuszczak, guarda-redes n.º 2 dos red devils, ter anunciado que irá deixar o emblema no final da temporada.

"Vou mesmo deixar o clube. O meu tempo com o Manchester United acabou" assegura o polaco. "Trabalhei bastante durante cinco anos mas nunca joguei tanto quanto queria", afirmou Kuszczak.

O facto do United estar à procura de um novo guarda-redes também contribui para a decisão do guardião. "Sempre acreditei que seria o sucessor de Van der Sar, mas o Sir Alex tem uma opinião diferente".

Nomes como David De Gea (Atlético de Madrid) ou Hugo Lloris (Lyon) têm estado ligados ao Manchester United como opções para a posição de guarda-redes.

Gareth Bale and Rafael van der Vaart have both received nominations for the 2010/2011 PFA Annual Awards.

 

Rafa is up for Players’ Player of the Year, while Gareth is up for both the Players’ Player and Young Player of the Year awards.

 

The pair have had tremendous campaigns so far in both domestic and European football for Harry Redknapp’s side.

 

At the age of just 21, Gareth has become recognised as one of the best young players in Europe, particularly since that famous Champions League hat-trick at the San Siro against Inter Milan in October and his incredible performance against the Italian giants at the Lane a fortnight later.

 

Overall, the Welsh wonder has scored 11 goals in 35 appearances to date this season, mainly operating on the left of midfield.

 

Rafa, meanwhile, has been something of a revelation in English football since his summer arrival from Real Madrid, instantly establishing himself as a firm favourite among Spurs supporters.

 

The 28-year-old went on an incredible run of scoring in each of his first six games at White Hart Lane after joining the Club, and currently leads our goalscoring charts with 12 goals in 28 appearances.

 

But the pair face stiff competition in the fight to land either gong, with the cream of Premier League talent also in the running.
