Chelsea diz «não» a Benitez

Roman Abramovich, multimilionário russo dono do Chelsea, informou Rafael Benitez que não terá qualquer possibilidade de treinar em Stamford Bridge num futuro próximo.

 

De acordo com o Daily Mail, Benitez deixou claro junto dos seus representantes que aceitaria treinar o Chelsea, caso o italiano Carlo Ancelotti abandone o comando técnico da equipa no final da temporada.

 

Porém, Abramovich logo esfriou as intenções do treinador espanhol, que está desempregado desde que deixou o Inter, em Dezembro passado.

 

Refere ainda o jornal britânico que a primeira escolha do dono do Chelsea é Guus Hiddink, holandês que já orientou provisoriamente a equipa no ano passado após a saída de Scolari.

Norwich de volta à Premier League

 

O Norwich venceu esta segunda-feira o Portsmouth por 1-0, na penúltima jornada da 2.ª liga inglesa e garantiu assim 6 anos depois, o regresso à Premier League.

 

O Norwich sobe à primeira divisão inglesa na companhia do já classificado Queens Park Rangers.

 

A equipa do Norwich acaba por copiar o feito do Manchester City que em 2000 subiu à Premier League depois de subir consecutivamente da terceira até a primeira divisão inglesa.

Olha, fico contente pelo Norwich! Gosto de ver equipas que um gajo via na PL quando ainda não ligava muito ao futebol internacional a subir de divisão. :)

Os três clubes relegados da Premier, Burnley, Hull City, Portsmouth estão em 9º , 10º e 16º lugar respectivamente.

 

O melhor clube desta época, para mim, foi o Norwich City que esteve muito bem e conseguiu a promoção.

Youth team seal league title glory with victory over Chelsea

Villa U18s are the Barclays Premier Academy League Group B champions.

 

 

 

 

Villa's U18s are celebrating a league title triumph after a 2-0 victory at Chelsea sealed top spot in the Barclays Premier Academy League Group B.

 

Skipper Daniel Johnson scored decisive penalties either side of half-time to seal the league championship crown for Tony McAndrew's team.

 

It is a remarkable achievement for the boys in claret and blue, who leapfrogged Leicester City with Saturday's win over Charlton before sealing top spot with a success at Chelsea's Cobham training ground today.

 

Talismanic captain Johnson stepped up to score from the spot in the first-half after winger Jack Grealish was fouled.

 

He coolly slotted home a second after the break following a foul on Jordan Graham.

 

The two penalties took midfielder Johnson's goal tally to 12 in all competitions for the season.

 

The U18s are now waiting to discover who they will play in the Barclays Premier Academy League semi-finals, with the aim of being crowned overall national champions.

 

"All of the kids who have played in the youth team this season have done themselves and the club proud," said coach McAndrew.

 

"It was a very young side we had out but they coped very well. We were a little bit sticky in the first-half but after the break we were outstanding.

 

"It was a cracking game. Chelsea are a good side and played some fantastic stuff. We won it with two penalties - they were both definite penalties and we maybe could have had another one.

 

"The kids have been a credit to the club. We were looking at a big gap between us an Leicester a few weeks ago but they have done brilliantly to claw it back and win the league."

 

The league title victory is the latest success story for Villa's academy.

 

A string of academy players - including Marc Albrighton, Ciaran Clark and Barry Bannan - have all broken into the first team this season, while the youth team reached the semi-finals of the FA Youth Cup yet again.

 

A number of players have also achieved international honours, with Derrick Williams representing Republic of Ireland at youth level and Jordan Graham and Callum Robinson featuring in England's Victory Shield campaign.
