Werder sign Petersen on loan

 

Striker Nils Petersen of FC Bayern Munich will be wearing green and white next season after SV Werder Bremen agreed a one-year loan deal with the record titleholders that will run until 30th June 2013. Bremen executive director Klaus Allofs confirmed the deal on Friday: "We've waited a long time to complete this transfer and are pleased that the deal is now signed and sealed."

 

Head coach Thomas Schaaf said of his new signing: "He's a centre-forward who has already proven his ability for scoring goals. We're delighted that he's joining us. We're convinced that he'll find excellent conditions here where he can continue to develop."

 

Petersen, who will undergo a medical examination later this week and start training with Werder on Thursday 5th July, began his career at hometown club FC Einheit 90 Wernigerode. Having played for 1. FC Wernigerode, FC Einheit Wernigerode and VfB Germania Halberstadt, the 23-year-old landed at FC Carl-Zeiss Jena where he made the step up as a professional footballer.

 

35 goals in 56 matches

 

During the winter break in the 2008/2009 season the target man joined Energie Cottbus, for whom he scored 35 goals in 56 Bundesliga 2 appearances between 2009 and 2011. Petersen won the Golden Boot in Germany's second division during the 2010/2011 season, having found the net 25 times. His form in front of goal soon earned the former U-21 player a move to the Bavarian giants.

 

The youngster made nine Bundesliga appearances for die Münchner, scoring two goals in the process, and has also enjoyed four outings in the UEFA Champions League for FCB.

 

Hertha snap up Ndjeng

 

Berlin - Marcel Ndjeng has become Hertha BSC Berlin's third signing of the summer transfer window. The forward, who can also play on the right wing, has signed a two-year contract with the capital city side having previously been under contract with Bundesliga outfit FC Augsburg.

 

 

"With Marcel Ndjeng we have signed a seasoned Bundesliga professional," said sporting director Michael Preetz. "He will provide a worthwhile improvement on our right wing."

The 30-year-old is personally looking forward to tackling his next adventure. "Playing for Hertha BSC and in Berlin will be a real challenge for me. I'm excited to play a part in winning promotion together with the other Hertha players and their fans. Of course I'm also happy to be able to work with head coach Jos Luhukay again."

 

The Cameroon international, born in Germany, has made a total of 276 appearances in both the Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2 for FC Augsburg, Borussia Mönchengladbach, Hamburger SV and Arminia Bielefeld scoring 43 goals in the process. Ndjeng will wear the number 8 shirt for Hertha.

 

 

VfB sign Hoogland on loan

 

Stuttgart - VfB Stuttgart have bolstered their defensive ranks with the signing of Tim Hoogland from Schalke 04 on a one-year loan deal, subject to his passing a medical.

 

Right-sided specialist Hoogland , 27, has racked up 36 Bundesliga appearances so far, scoring six-goals. "Tim's a strong-tackling player with the right kind of character for our team. We're confident he'll give us fresh impetus in that position," VfB sporting director Fredi Bobic commented.

 

His Schalke counterpart Horst Heldt explained, "We have several options at full back. After Tim's lengthy absence due to injury, it makes sense for all concerned that he can get the opportunity to gain plenty of match practice in Stuttgart."
