Tommy Haas ausente até final de temporada por lesão

 

Alemão vai ser operado e não confirma regresso em 2015

 

O tenista alemão Tommy Haas, que ocupa o 20º lugar no ranking ATP, anunciou que não jogará mais até ao final da temporada, devido a uma lesão no ombro direito.

 

«Apesar de saber que não estava tudo bem nas últimas semanas, não previa isto. Foi um choque», revelou o tenista de 36 anos, em declarações ao jornal Bild.

 

Haas será operado ao ombro na próxima terça-feira em Nova Iorque. O alemão não garante, para já, o regresso aos courts em 2015: «Não podemos decidir isso já, ainda há muito trabalho pela frente. Sei o que me espera, vou lidar com esse desafio.»

 

Esta lesão obrigou Tommy Haas a abandonar o torneio de Roland Garros na primeira ronda e impediu-o de participar no torneio de Halle.

Mais uma retirada que se anuncia: Nikolay Davydenko!

 

Reports in the Russian media have suggested that former world no. 3 Nikolay Davdydenko has retired from professional tennis.

O ano de 2014 esteve muito sossegado no que respeita a abandonos. Foi o Nikolay Davydenko a única grande figura a retirar-se. E o Llodra que se despediu dos singulares mas vai continuar a espalhar magia em pares.

 

O próprio site do ATP nos artigos de fim de ano que dedica aos tenistas que se retiraram ilustra a falta de nomes grados a pendurar as raquetas. Refere o Davydenko, o Olivier Rochus, o Alex Bogomolov Jr, o Marc Gicquel, o Bjorn Phau, o Evgeny Korolev (a maior surpresa... um talento que nunca se confirmou... atormentado por lesões), o Rik De Voest e o Paul Capdeville - além dos especialistas de pares Andy Ram e Paul Hanley.
