Carson Wentz Publicado 26 Fevereiro 2016 Ring of Honor 14th Anniversary: The full rundown and why you should care ROH's latest pay-per-view event is a star-studded affair with a stacked card that includes top New Japan stars. Here's a look at everything that will go down on Friday night. Ls Vegas will host Ring of Honor's 14th Anniversary show live on pay-per-view Friday night. The event begins at 9 p.m. ET on PPV, iPPV and VOD. The event has three grudge matches, all three ROH titles on the line, a New Japan title on the line and IWGP World Heavyweight Champion Kazuchika Okada in singles action. If you've never watched ROH before or if, like me, you're a bit of a lapsed fan, there's a lot to get caught up on. I'm here to help you out and provide you with backstory and reasons to get invested in what looks to be one of the company's biggest shows of the year. Here's the full preview for Friday's PPV. What am I looking at here? Goto was scheduled to face his rival Tomohiro Ishii at the 14th Anniversary show, but Ishii captured the ROH World Television Championship at Honor Rising and fouled everything up. Goto, having not earned a shot at that title just yet, will be facing a different opponent on the PPV. That man? The one and only peacock of professional wrestling, Dalton Castle. Why you should care: It's a Dalton Castle match, people. He's got his Boys back and everything. You need to watch every single Castle match for his entrance alone. He's one of the best things in all of pro wrestling right now, so get in on him now while there are still wrestling hipster bragging rights to be had. What am I looking at here? Christopher Daniels, if you haven't seen him in a while, is now doing some strange sort of fascist general thing. He got suspended by ROH for a while for hitting a referee with a hammer, which is a good thing to suspend someone for. He's still part of the Addiction, along with Kazarian and Shelley's former partner, Chris Sabin. Shelley has been feuding with the Addiction pretty much since he started working for Ring of Honor again and now he's finally getting his hands on Daniels. Why you should care: The final week of ROH television leading up to this match teased Sabin being reluctant to lay hands on Shelley, which means there's a chance this match could culminate in a Motor City Machine Guns reunion. However you may feel about Shelley and Daniels as individual wrestlers, that's certainly enough of a reason to pay attention to this one. What am I looking at here? Whitmer was one of the founding members of the stable The Decade, along with Roderick Strong and Jimmy Jacobs. They would bring in "young boys" and teach them how to RESPECT THE BUSINESS. Whitmer ran afoul of Steve Corino some time ago and recently beat down Corino's son, Colby, to teach Steve a lesson. Corino pulled some strings and convinced Adam Page to turn on Whitmer. So this match is not only an apprentice turning on a mentor, but a possible end to the Corino/Whitmer feud. Why you should care: This is the end of the Decade! While Colby may still technically be a member of the group (and even that is questionable), you can't have a stable with two people. The Decade has been around since 2013, which is pretty much forever in contemporary wrestling terms. Seems like the right time to put it to bed. Expect any number of Corinos to get involved in this one. What am I looking at here? Moose (and his manager Stokely Hathaway) has been dying to prove himself as THE true force in Ring of Honor. To that end, they've decided to challenge the very best in the world, starting with the top star in New Japan, the Rainmaker himself, Kazuchika Okada. Why you should care: Moose has a ton of upside, he's motivated and hungry to impress people and he's going up against one of the best wrestlers in the world. Sounds good to me! What am I looking at here? Michael Elgin finally got to Japan and, much to his delight, he has immediately become a very big deal there. He and Tanahashi are TOTES BESTIES in New Japan. They've got themselves a good old indie dream match against the Briscoes. Why you should care: Ring of Honor initially built their reputation on being able to offer matches pitting the top indie stars against one another. Their partnership with New Japan keeps that tradition alive, but with an even deeper global talent pool. This is the one match on the card with no real story behind it, just "THEY'RE GONNA FIGHT." If that's not enough for you, it's a good thing that Mark Briscoe is one of the most watchable wrestlers on the planet. What am I looking at here? SUPERKICK PARTY! The Elite of the Bullet Club JUST won New Japan's six man titles, so now they're putting them on the line. Omega and KUSHIDA have gone toe to toe in New Japan in the past. All six men are very familiar with each other. Why you should care: I mean ... did you read who is involved in this match? This looks like it's going to be the most sheer fun on the card. It almost seems like a PWG match. Just sit back and watch MOVES for a while with a big grin on your face. You've earned it. What am I looking at here? After ducking Bobby Fish for months, Strong was supposed to finally put his belt on the line here. Then he lost it to Ishii at Honor Rising. Now instead of Fish getting his long-anticipated shot, he has a triple threat match to deal with. Why you should care: Ishii is one of the current champions of the workrate set, perhaps second only to Shinsuke Nakamura. Meanwhile, Strong has spent the past two years honing his craft and becoming one of the most respected wrestlers in the independent scene. Fish was already pissed off, but now he's a third wheel in a match he fought hard to earn. You don't want to make Bobby Fish even more angry than his baseline mood, which is "furious." What am I looking at here? The All Night Express were stripped of the tag titles way back in 2012, after Kenny King signed with TNA unexpectedly. Now they're back and they're looking to reclaim the titles they never actually lost. When a title shot against War Machine ended in shenanigans, they successfully lobbied for a no-DQ match at the PPV. Here we are. Why you should care: War Machine are some of the best hosses around and have the best non-Dalton Castle entrance in ROH. On paper, they should destroy ANX, but the no-DQ stipulation really levels the playing field. Expect violence and lots of it. What am I looking at here? Kyle O'Reilly has made Lethal tap out in a non-title match before, so he's certain he can beat him. His former partner, Adam Cole, has made it his personal mission to ensure O'Reilly never wins the top prize in ROH. At the same time, Cole is determined to become the third two-time ROH World Champion. He'll be trying to screw O'Reilly and beat Lethal, O'Reilly is trying to overcome the odds and Lethal and the House of Truth are trying to hold onto that title by any means necessary. Why you should care: A three-way match for the top prize in the company is pretty classic ROH. Between Lethal, Cole and O'Reilly, you have three very different competitors and styles, so there should be something for you to enjoy here. There's also a chance you could see a Ring of Honor world title change, which is still a big deal. There have only been 22 total title reigns in 14 years. Think about that for a minute. If the title changes hands on Friday, it will mean either a first-time champion or only the third two-time champ in company history. See? Some things still matter in pro wrestling.
