Stuttgart Sign Pavel Pogrebnyak From Zenit

Bundesliga club VfB Stuttgart will unveil Zenit St Petersburg forward Pavel Pogrebnyak as their latest signing after the player passes a medical on Sunday.

 

The Swabians have been searching for a replacement for Mario Gomez, who joined Bayern Munich for €30 million, and their hunt is at an end.

 

The 25-year-old hit man will reportedly cost the German outfit some €10 million with a four-year contract on offer, although details have yet to be released.

 

Stuttgart's sporting director, Horst Heldt, told the press, "Apart from Sunday's medical, everything is clear. We have agreed with the club and the player.''

 

A note on the Zenit website reads, "The transfer has been approved by the club's head coach (Dick Advocaat)."

 

The imminent signing of Pogrebnyak, however, may not spell the end of the transfer dealings with the Swabians with speculation also linking Markus Babbel with a move for Standard Liege’s Milan Jovanovic.

 

A move for the Serbian midfielder had hit an impasse with his Belgian club demanding €8 million, but reports claim that both clubs are now approaching an agreement.

Isso é o que dizem eles, quer-me parecer. Li ontem no Record que o Advocaat disse que, embora tenha sido noticiado que ele concordou, não foi bem assim e que foi tudo obra do director-desportivo. Mas não sei se é verdade ou não.

Croatia Striker Nikola Kalinic 'Completes' Deal With Blackburn Rovers - Agent

Big Sam looks set to add a second player to his list of signed strikers...

 

Croatia international Nikola Kalinic is said to have completed his switch to Blackburn Rovers pending a work permit, according to the player's agent.

 

The 21-year-old striker had recently been in talks with Portsmouth, but, as Pompey took their time in forwarding a deal, Kalinic and his agent headed straight to Blackburn.

 

With Sam Allardyce desperately seeking out striking talent, the player was greeted with open arms at Ewood Park.

 

"It is finished, the transfer is completed. Now all Nikola needs is a work permit, which shouldn't be problem," Kalinic's agent Tomislav Erceg told Sportske novosti.

 

The young Croat has been hailed as part of Sam Allardyce's plan to inject youth into the side, as Kalinic looks set to pair up with fellow new signing Franco Di Santo at the head of Blackburn's attacking force.

The young Argentine is moving to Lancashire, at least for the first half of the season...

 

Blackburn Rovers have this evening confirmed that they have signed striker Franco Di Santo from Chelsea on a loan deal that will last, initially at least, until the January transfer window.

 

However, Rovers' official website also states that the Lancastrians have "the first option of extending the deal until the end of the season in the event that Chelsea do not wish to recall him to their squad", which suggests a longer deal extending to the rest of the season is probable should the switch go well.

 

The 20-year-old has already played his part for the west London outfit during their pre-season schedule, scoring in the Blues' recent 2-1 win over Club America, and now looks set to make his Rovers debut in the club's friendly against Scottish side Hibernian on Wednesday at Ewood Park.

 

The Argentine made 16 appearances for Chelsea last season, all as substitute. Although largely untested at Premier League level, Rovers boss Sam Allardyce will be pleased to have secured the player's services.

 

The departures of Roque Santa Cruz and Matt Derbyshire had left the Lancashire club thin in terms of their forward options, after a potential move for out-of-contract veteran Christian Vieri seemed to stall last week.

O Hearts anunciou, nesta terça-feira, que os portugueses Zezinando e João Moreira não convenceram o técnico Csaba Laszlo e já regressaram ao seu país. Segundo o clube escocês, os dois jogadores estavam a treinar à experiência.

 

O médio Zezinando e o avançado João Moreira viajaram para a Escócia com a promessa de assinatura de um contrato de três épocas. Contudo, o Hearts nunca registou os contratos e sempre garantiu que os jogadores estavam apenas a ser testados.

 

Zezinando tinha terminado o seu vínculo com o Sporting. João Moreira também é um jogador livre, após ter concluído a sua ligação ao Valêcia. Ao longo da pré-temporada, os portugueses treinaram com o Hearts, mas voltaram a casa nesta terça-feira.

Dos jogos que vi do Newcastle era o menos mau daquela defesa. Ainda é novo por isso pode evoluir e é esquerdo (segundo o FM pode também jogar na esquerda da defesa).

Não acompanho o Newcastle. Tentei uma vez mas tive vontade de cabecear a parede repetidamente. Mas vendo bem a competição que tem pela frente, tanto pode agarrar o lado esquerdo, como pode vir a ser titular com alguma lesão RARA do Woodgate. Ultimamente os Spurs têm comprado jogadores decentes para posições mais defensivas, tipo Hutton, Corluka e também o Palacios (que demorou a mostrar que afinal até era bonzito).

Cristiano Zanetti regressa à Fiorentina

 

 

O médio internacional italiano Cristiano Zanetti deixou a Juventus para assinar um contrato de dois anos com mais um de opção com a Fiorentina, clube que representou no início da carreira.

 

Zanetti, 32 anos, jogou as últimas três temporadas na Juventus, tendo anteriormente representado o Inter durante cinco épocas. Jogou ainda na AS Roma, Cagliari, Reggiana e Venezia.

 

O jogador vai ser apresentado na próxima quinta-feira.

Official: CSKA Moscow Sign Betis Winger Mark Gonzalez

CSKA Moscow have all but completed the signing of Betis winger Mark Gonzalez, the Spanish club have confirmed.

 

The Chile international, currently away on international duty, is expected to pen a contract with the Russian club after the friendly match with Denmark.

 

Betis did not wish to unveil the figure involved in the transfer, but reports in Spain claim the Segunda Division side will receive €6.5 million.

 

The former Real Sociedad man, who signed for Betis from Liverpool in 2007, was a regular presence at the Manuel Ruiz de Lopera, but he has now joined the long list of departures, following the club's relegation to the second division.
