Toni Kukoc joins Bulls as special adviser

The Bulls on Monday announced the hire of Toni Kukoc as special adviser to Michael Reinsdorf, the team's president and chief operating officer.

Kukoc joins Scottie Pippen in title, albeit with different responsibilities.

“You only have to be around Toni for a few minutes to appreciate his personality, passion, and professionalism and recognize the contributions he will make to our team in his new role,” Reinsdorf said in a statement. “Toni will work across the organization and his duties will be wide-ranging. He will bring valuable perspective that comes with experience to many areas, whether it is relating to the international players on our team or sharing what it means to be a Chicago Bull when talking to partners and fans. Toni will be a strong representative of both the team’s legacy and its future.”

Kukoc spent seven of his 13 seasons with the Bulls, winning three titles and the 1996 NBA Sixth Man of the Year honors.

“It is a thrill and an honor to again be a part of the team that helped define my basketball career here in the United States and in Chicago,” Kukoc said in the statement. "The Bulls have become my extended family, and I am really looking forward to the future and being a Bull for life.”

Derrick Rose accused in lawsuit of rape; spokeswoman calls move 'desperate takedown'

Chicago Bulls star Derrick Rose has been accused of sexual assault in a lawsuit filed Wednesday by a former girlfriend in Los Angeles — a charge Rose quickly denied through a spokeswoman.

The woman, identified in the court filing as "Jane Doe," alleges that she was "gang raped" by Rose and two of his friends in August 2013. The woman claims the men placed a drug in her drink during a night out, then sexually assaulted her later after they broke into her apartment.

She said she was in an "incapacitated state of consciousness."

A spokeswoman for Rose acknowledged Thursday that the Bulls guard had a lengthy sexual relationship with the accuser, but she said in a statement that the woman's allegations in the lawsuit were "completely false and without any factual basis."

"This is nothing more than a desperate attempt to shake down a highly respected and successful athlete," said the spokeswoman, Lisa Cohen. "Mr. Rose was in a non-exclusive, consensual sexual relationship with the plaintiff for over two years. The plaintiff expressed no complaints about Mr. Rose until various lawyers began to surface and demand that the plaintiff be paid millions of dollars. This is the third lawyer the plaintiff has retained in this matter.

"Two years have passed since Mr. Rose ended the consensual relationship with the plaintiff, and her claims are as meritless now as they were two years ago. We have complete confidence that the case will be dismissed and that Mr. Rose will be vindicated. This lawsuit is outrageous."

Rose and the woman dated for about two years from 2011 until July 2013. In May 2013, according to the lawsuit, the woman said she traveled to Chicago with Rose and that they went to dinner with a friend "at his house after the game he played in ended."

However, Rose missed the entire the 2012-13 season with an injury and did not play in May.

The woman said in the lawsuit that after that trip she no longer wanted to pursue a romantic relationship with Rose, but she said the two remained acquaintances. A text message from Rose included in the lawsuit suggests that Rose was souring on their relationship as well.

The woman claims the assault by Rose and two friends, both of whom are named as defendants in the lawsuit, happened after the group attended a party at a home in Beverly Hills, Calif. After a night of drinking tequila, the woman alleges in the lawsuit, Rose and the two others sexually assaulted her after they took a taxi back to her residence near downtown Los Angeles.

The friends could not be reached for comment.

Attorneys for the woman also could not be reached. The lawsuit was filed Wednesday in Los Angeles Superior Court.

The Bulls issued a statement early Thursday saying, "We just learned about this matter and do not know all the facts. It would be inappropriate to comment further at this time."

Rose is the second Chicago sports star accused of sexual assault in the past month. Blackhawks winger Patrick Kane was accused of sexual assaulting a woman at his Buffalo-area home the weekend of Aug. 1. Police in the town of Hamburg and Eric County prosecutors are continuing to investigate the woman's claims.

In the weeks after August 2013, the woman, who worked as an administrator for a property management company at the time, said she became paranoid that Rose was monitoring her phone calls, according to the lawsuit. She was reluctant to report the incident because she feared retaliation and because she had been in a consensual relationship with the basketball player. The woman lost her job, the lawsuit says, because she became distracted by the trauma of the alleged sexual assault.

"As a direct consequence of these unlawful acts, plaintiff has suffered severe physical injury, emotional distress including post-traumatic stress disorder, as well as economic, consequential, and other damages," according to the lawsuit.

The lawsuit seeks "an award of money judgment for mental pain and anguish and severe emotional distress," including "a civil penalty in the sum of $25,000" and additional relief as determined by a judge.

Coitado do Rose.

O Randle a SF é totalmente improvável.
