Luso-francês Amaury Bischoff a caminho do Arsenal

Amaury Bischoff, luso-francês que alinha no Werder Bremen, está em negociações avançadas com o Arsenal. O jovem médio, internacional sub-20 por Portugal, garantiu isso mesmo ao jornal gaulês DNA, neste domingo.

«Faltam acertar alguns detalhes.

Portsmouth close on £10m deal for frustrated Crouch

Portsmouth are close to agreeing a £10m deal with Liverpool for Peter Crouch after the England forward indicated he would prefer a return to Fratton Park rather than join Tottenham Hotspur.

Liverpool had hoped to use Crouch as a makeweight in a £20m offer for Tottenham's Robbie Keane but may now use the money from his sale towards that bid after the FA Cup winners improved their offer for the 27-year-old yesterday. Tottenham, Manchester City and Newcastle have all registered interest in Crouch, who was marginalised at Anfield by the manager, Rafael Benítez, last season, but only Portsmouth have lodged an official bid with Liverpool.

Harry Redknapp had a £9m package rejected by the club a fortnight ago but is now confident a straight offer of £10m will encourage Benítez to take the chance to increase his own transfer budget. Crouch played 37 games for Portsmouth from July 2001 until March 2002 but was sold to Aston Villa for £5m by Redknapp two days after he became Pompey manager in his first spell at the club.

Crouch had a loan spell at Norwich before Villa sold him to Southampton for what turned out to be their relegation season in 2004-05, most of it under Redknapp once again. The 6ft 7in striker wants regular Premier League football in order to bolster his chances of selection to Fabio Capello's England side and an opportunity to impress Redknapp for a third time could help him in this ambition.

Benítez, meanwhile, still hopes to sign the Aston Villa captain Gareth Barry and Keane but requires additional funds to make an offer for the Republic of Ireland international having budgeted his allocated £20m for Barry and the full-back Andrea Dossena, who joined yesterday.

Van Der Vaart Says No To Spurs

Hamburg playmaker Rafael Van Der Vaart has moved to dispel rumours linking him with a move to Tottenham Hotspur by stating that the London outfit are ‘not the club’ for him.

The Dutch international is one of the most coveted players of the summer transfer window, with clubs across Europe allegedly fighting for his signature.

Tottenham were one of the clubs with mooted interest, but Van Der Vaart insists that he has no intention of moving to White Hart Lane.

He told Sportsweek: "The interest has been there for some time already, but they (Tottenham) are not the club I want to go to. Tottenham are not a club I want to swap Hamburg for.

The 25-year-old has yet to extend his HSV deal, but sees his immediate future with the Bundesliga side. Van Der Vaart stated his willingness to remain at the Nordbank Arena, and said that he would move only to a club of his preference. He added that Hamburg have yet to receive such an approach.

With compatriot Martin Jol installed as the club’s new coach, Van Der Vaart sees ‘no reason to leave.’

He continued: "The chance that I will stay at HSV is really big. As long as no team comes by which makes me immediately excited, I see no reason to leave. And so far none of those clubs have called us."

Gunners To Shoot Down Reds' Barry Bid?

As negotiations between Liverpool and Aston Villa continue to drag, Arsenal are reportedly set to make a sensational last-minute swoop for Gareth Barry…

The Sun reports that the Gunners have made contact with Villa this week and are willing to offer a player-plus-cash deal to steal Barry from under the Reds’ noses.

Liverpool have been hunting the England midfielder for months now, and it seemed only a matter time before they would land their man when he publicly announced his desire to make the switch to Anfield.

But Rafael Benitez is yet to meet Villa’s demands of ₤18million – and looks increasingly unlikely to given Xabi Alonso may now stay on Merseyside – and has refused their compromise of ₤17million plus Steve Finnan.

The Midlands club are desperately in need of a right-back following Olof Mellberg’s departure, meaning Arsenal may include Justin Hoyte – or, at a stretch, perhaps even Emmanuel Eboue – as part of their offer.

Villa boss Martin O’Neill would no doubt be very tempted by the prospect of selling to the Londoners, as he was heavily critical of the manner in which Benitez approached Barry.

Vai Arsène
