Liverpool contrata defesa suíço

 

Philipp Degen, defesa internacional suíço que estava em final de contrato com o Borussia Dortmund, é o primeiro reforço do Liverpool para a nova época, anunciou esta terça-feira o clube de Anfield Road.

 

Degen, de 25 anos, tornar-se-á jogador do Liverpool a 1 de Julho, dia em que expira o seu actual contrato com o Borussia Dortmund, clube que representou nas últimas três épocas, proveniente do Basileia.

 

De salientar que o defesa passou a última época com muitos problemas físicos, estando por isso em dúvida a sua presença no Euro-2008, competição na qual a co-anfitriã Suíça será um dos adversários de Portugal na fase de grupos.

Agent: Hleb Has Left Arsenal

 

The Belarus international has been heavily linked with a move away from the Emirates, having earned strong interest from Internazionale, Barcelona and Real Madrid.

 

And agent Niki Spilevski revealed that the 27-year-old will leave North London this summer, following crunch talks with Gunners boss Arsene Wenger.

 

“I can officially confirm that a short time ago Alexander decided that he will leave Arsenal and join another club,” he said.

 

“Of course Arsenal and Arsene wanted him to stay but they have accepted the player’s choice.”

Hleb moved to Arsenal for ₤11.2 million from Bundesliga outfit VfB Stuttgart in 2005, and has since established himself alongside Cesc Fabregas as one of the team’s key creative outlets.

“It’s also true that he felt uncomfortable off the field. Alexander wants a change of scene. That’s had a large part to play in his decision.

Talks

 

Wenger was livid upon learning that Hleb held talks with Inter officials before the end of the season, and threatened to banish the player to the reserves.

 

The Frenchman feared Hleb would enact article 17, a FIFA rule that allows players to buy out their own contract if they have played in a particular country for a certain amount of time.

 

But Spilevski denied that his client would exploit the clause, and insisted that Hleb’s future should be sorted during the week.

 

“We are not using article 17 of the FIFA rule,” he said. “I can’t tell you anything about where he will be playing yet.

 

“Talks are underway, and I don’t have the right to make them public. I think that the issue of his new club will be clarified in the next few days.”

Nasri 99% Sure of Arsenal Move

After nearly three weeks of speculation seems that Samir Nasri's move to Arsenal is on the brink of completion as he told RTL that the deal was proceeding “normally”…

 

Samir Nasri tonight confirmed to French radio station RTL that his transfer to English giants Arsenal is progressing “normally” and the deal should be concluded over the course of the next few days.

 

Arsenal appear to be linked with every hot young French talent however it appears that there was substance in the rumours that Nasri's could move to north London.

 

Nasri's interview with RTL was the first time that he has spoken of his move to the Gunners, who he is “99% certain” of joining in time for the start of next season.

 

The saga started immediately after the final game of the season, a dramatic victory over Strasbourg, when Nasri hinted that it would be his last for Marseille. Speculation that the talented creative midfielder would move to Arsenal was fuelled by his agent and finally the deal is close to being closed.

 

Marseille's brightest prospect had a highly effective performance in yesterday's 2-0 victory over Ecuador with the French national side, linking well with Nicolas Anelka and Bafetimbi Gomis to act as a catalyst for the opening goal.

 

Raymond Domenech elected to keep the 20 year-old in his 30 man squad on the back of this showing and other impressive performances towards the end of a season that Nasri helped guide Marseille to third spot in the French league and therefore a potential Champions League berth.

 

Nasri will turn 21 during the European Championships and will wish to celebrate his birthday with an appearance in the final with les Bleus.
