Aguero agent reveals 'English offer'

Reports coming out of Spain are linking Manchester United with a multi-million pound bid for Sergio Aguero after the player’s agent spoke of an English approach for the forward.

 

Agent Jose Segui has been quoted saying that a ‘leading English team’ have asked him to approach Atletico Madrid, and Segui ruled out Chelsea.

 

At 20 years of age, Aguero is already the star of the Atletico XI, and would easily command a transfer fee of around £30 million.

 

Liverpool wanted the Argentina international before he joined Atleti, and Rafa Benitez could use Xabi Alonso as part of a deal to bring Aguero to Anfield.

 

Arsene Wenger meanwhile would also have the funds if he sold Emmanuel Adebayor, but the Frenchman is notoriously thrifty in the transfer market.

 

The most obvious move would be United, where Aguero would act as a replacement for wantaway attacker Cristiano Ronaldo.

 

Segui is reported as saying on Saturday: “I have had interest from a leading English team and they have asked me to approach Atletico with a bid.

 

“I cannot say more until I have spoken to the club about the offer.

 

“All I can tell you is that it is one of the best teams in Europe and it's not Chelsea.”

English Giants Set To Snap Up Giovinco?

There are reports that have just emerged in England and Italy over the past few hours that suggest Arsenal, Manchester United and Liverpool are all hoping to take advantage of Sebastian Giovinco’s contract dispute with Juventus.

 

Giovinco is one of the most exciting prospects to have come out of Italy in recent years, and he is being tipped by many experts to be a superstar of the very near future.

 

The 21-year-old, who spent last season on loan at Empoli, is owned by Juventus and is due to be part of their first team squad for the coming season.

 

However, a few problems have begun to emerge between player and club regarding a new contract. Giovinco is demanding an improved deal, but so far transfer director Alessio Secco is only willing to pay the attacking midfielder €500,000 extra per year.

 

Some statements, from yesterday, attributed to Giovinco’s agent Claudio Pasqualin appeared to suggest that he was confident that a new deal would be signed soon.

 

However reports emerging in the last few hours suggest that Giovinco is far from happy with Secco’s offer, and as a result Arsenal, Manchester United and Liverpool are all ready to take advantage and bring the young prodigy to the Premiership.

 

Such news, if confirmed, would surely horrify Juve fans, who several weeks ago launched a campaign to keep Giovinco, following reports that Secco was considering offloading him to Palermo.

Arsenal Confirm Coquelin Signing

Arsenal have confirmed their third signing of the summer, young French midfielder Francis Coquelin.

 

A brief piece on the Gunners’ official website confirms that Arsene Wenger has signed his third player of the summer - and second French midfielder. Francis Coquelin has joined the club from French third division side Laval.

 

Coquelin, 17, impressed during a trial with Arsenal last season and had been expected to sign during the last two months.

 

He passed a medical back in May but his signing was only officially announced by the Gunners on Friday.

 

“Arsenal have signed French midfield player Francis Coquelin on professional terms,” said the statement.

 

“The 17-year-old has joined from SASP Stade Lavallois Mayeene MFC.”

 

Laval revealed last month that Coquelin, who had not signed a first professional contract with them, was free to move on.

 

Arsenal are therefore believed to have signed him without having to pay a transfer fee.

 

Reports suggest that Werder Bremen’s Amaury Bischoff could be the next youngster to join the Gunners.

West Bromwich Albion have won the race to sign goalkeeper Scott Carson in a £3.25million deal from Liverpool.

 

Carson, 22, has been linked with several Premier League clubs following Liverpool's capture of Diego Cavaleri to provide cover for regular number one Jose Reina.

 

The Baggies faced competition from Middlesbrough and Stoke City to sign the former Leeds United youngster.

 

But Tony Mowbray's side have come out on top after agreeing an initial £3.25million fee for the Reds with a further £500,000 payment based on appearances.

 

The Whitehaven-born keeper has agreed a four-year contract at The Hawthorns.

 

Carson spent the 2006-07 campaign on loan at Charlton Athletic, before featuring in 36 matches for Aston Villa last term.

 

He was expected to join Villa on a permanent basis this summer but reports claimed manager Martin O'Neill refused to meet an initial asking price of £8million.

 

His arrival takes the Baggies' summer spending to almost £14million after the signings of AS Roman Bednar, Luke Moore, Kim Do-Heon, Graham Dorrans, Gianni Zuiverloon and Marek Cech.
