I think this is a good spot for Manti Te'o. He was brutal in the national championship, but that shouldn't erase all of his other great tape. He's still the favorite to be the first inside linebacker off the board, and the 16-25 range seems right for him. Besides, this is the type of move the Steelers normally make. They often are able to snag talented prospects who fall to them later in the first round for whatever reason.

 

The Steelers have shown interest in first-round inside linebackers. They wanted Dont'a Hightower last April, but David DeCastro was just too good to pass up at No. 24 overall. Pittsburgh still has to find an inside linebacker because Larry Foote was awful this year. He finished near the top of dubious rankings like missed tackles and touchdowns allowed by players at his position.

The Pick: ILB Manti Te'o, Notre Dame

 

The Manti Te'o wait is over.

 

Fans of the Notre Dame linebacker will surely be upset that he's still on the board here, but they should be glad to see him in a situation tailor-made for his talents. But why the fall down the board?

 

Te'o is a very good linebacker, no question, but his position isn't one of great need at the top of the draft this year. There are teams who could add a middle linebacker, but it's not the primary need for any team ahead of Pittsburgh.

 

Also (and this doesn't get mentioned enough), Te'o simply isn't a great athlete. He's not Patrick Willis. Instead, look for Te'o to run somewhere around a 4.7 in the 40-yard dash and perform about average in all agility tests at the combine.

 

Te'o had a brilliant year, and his character can't be questioned, but he's not the elite, all-world prospect that some have made him out to be. It's much more likely he's drafted in the 10-15 range and not the 5-10 range some are predicting.

Mas é, o ano passado já tinha sido o melhor QB da liga e este ano voltou a ser para mim o melhor QB na regular season.

Really? Epá, isto de rankings é sempre subjectivo a quem o faz mas o Rodgers o ano passado quebrou o recorde de QB rating, este liderou a liga em QBRat, 2º em TD passes, juntamente com o Manning.

 

O Ben 7º, Eli 14º em QBRat, Ben 10º, Eli 11º em TD passes, aqui ainda dou o desconto do Ben ter estado lesionado. Não são de todo superiores ao Rodgers.

 

Também tenho reparado na descida do Te'o nos Big Boards do Draft, devido ao mau jogo frente a Alabama, mas não me parece que desça tanto.

Eu não disse que ele era pior, mas também não é melhor. Acho que estão os 3 um bocadinho a baixo dos outros 3. Mas as diferenças entre os 6, para mim, são quase nulas.

Para mim existe uma grande diferença entre esses 3. E o Rodgers está lá no top, se tivesse de fazer um top3, actualmente, seria Peyton, Brady e Rodgers.

O Peyton não se dá muito bem nos PO, uma SB em 10/11 presenças nos PO é um bocado inglório, mas o gajo voltou a grande nível, nunca pensei que ele voltasse tão forte, mas um ano parado pode fazer maravilhas, estou curioso para ver a próxima época...

Já confirmou o regresso a ND, resta saber se sempre houve extensão de contrato e melhoria do mesmo. Brian Kelly junta-se a Bill O'Brian e Chip Kelly a nível de HC que recusaram os Eagles e a NFL.
