The Memphis Grizzlies reacquired its future first round draft pick from the Washington Wizards as part of a three-team deal also involving the New Orleans Hornets, Grizzlies General Manager and Vice President of Basketball Operations Chris Wallace announced today. As part of the trade, Memphis sends Javaris Crittenton to Washington and sends future considerations involving a second round draft pick to New Orleans, while the Wizards trade Antonio Daniels to the Hornets in exchange for Mike James. “We are pleased to reacquire our first round pick from Washington,” Wallace said. “Now we possess all our future first round picks and have complete flexibility, if needed, for future deals. The organization also wishes Javaris all the best with the Wizards.” Washington originally received Memphis’ future first round pick in a deal that sent Juan Carlos Navarro to the Bluff City on Aug. 17, 2007. Navarro, who was named to the NBA’s All-Rookie Second Team after averaging 10.9 points, 2.6 rebounds and 2.2 assists in 82 games last season, signed with his former Spanish club F.C. Barcelona during the summer. The Grizzlies will retain the right to match any free agent offer he receives should he decide to return to the NBA.

Tb acho que os SUNS são os mais beneficiados com esta troca..além do mais, esta época o Bell andava a jogar muito mal e já não é tão novo (32 anos). Pelo o contrário o Richardson ainda é relativamente novo (27 anos) e tem um enorme potencial..

Could Nash Be Next To Depart Suns?

 

There is some speculation that Steve Nash could be the next member of the Suns to be sent packing.

 

Raja Bell and Boris Diaw, who were sent to the Bobcats this week, joined Shawn Marion and coach Mike D'Antoni as the most recent mainstays to leave.

 

"I was pretty flat emotionally," Nash said after the trade.

 

Bell and Nash, who are close friends, had been publicly petitioning coach Terry Porter to speed up his offense.

 

"I don't know," Nash, who will become a free agent in 2010, said of his future. "Like I said before about the 2010 speculation, it's so far away."

Grizzlies Sign Darius Miles

 

The Memphis Grizzlies announced today in a statement to RealGM and other media outlets that they have signed free agent forward Darius Miles. Terms of the deal were not disclosed per team policy, but it is believed to be a non-guaranteed contract.

 

"Darius has been an active, productive player in the past,” said Grizzlies General Manager and Vice President of Basketball Operations Chris Wallace. “He did a good job with the Celtics in preseason and we look forward to working with him."

Trade doors about to swing open

 

It's not the trading deadline. That's not until Feb. 19.

 

But Monday is a significant date on the NBA personnel schedule, nonetheless.

 

Dec. 15 is the first day that players signed as free agents in the offseason may be dealt, provided they had signed before Sept. 15.

 

So what does that mean for the Heat? It means Monday is the first day that the Heat would be allowed to trade Yakhouba Diawara, James Jones, Jamaal Magloire, Chris Quinn or Dorell Wright.

 

Does that mean the Heat will make a move? No, at least not immediately. But it means that it will now have far greater flexibility to get a deal done, since other teams have just as many players becoming trade eligible.

 

For as much as the buzz began with last week's deals involving Jason Richardson, Boris Diaw, Mike James, Antonio Daniels and Javaris Crittenton, starting Monday it will be easier for others to also jump into the trade market.
