eu não sou fã do Bryan :mrgreen: Até me é um bocado indiferente, e já expliquei aqui milhões de vezes porque acho o Reigns fraquinho e porquê de ser contra o push.

I've pulled some posts from RSPW, completely un-edited, spanning The Rock's career from debut, until leaving for the movies in 2001. It's kind of funny how relevant some of these are to today's WWE.

 

11/27/96 [note: this is the first report of Rocky in the ring, about a week after his Survivor Series debut] - 2) Justin "Hawk" Bradshaw vs. Rocky Maivia: Crowd was about 50-50 for this one. Hawk had many fans, and others were just too unfamiliar with Maivia to give a damn. I wasn't too impressed with Maivia, but Bradshaw really put a lot of effort into his work, and I recall his clotheslines really smacking hard against Maivia. Maivia won with his shoulderbreaker finisher. I suppose he's promising, so long as they don't shove him down our throats. Bradshaw should be given a push: he's a very talented big guy wrestler.

 

12/29/96 - WWF ruins great talent all the time. You can't tell me that Rocky Maieva deserves the push he's getting while Al Snow has to job to every two-bit wrestler the WWF has to offer. 1/17/97 [response to a Rumble Prediction] - I tend to agree with you that he'll "make a strong showing". Goddamn kid's gonna to be pushed down our throats way to hard, and way too fast given his skill level.

 

2/13/97 - I think the fact that Rocky Maivia is the IC champ is a travesty. Totally bogus. There is no way that he is a better competitor than HHH. It hurts. I hope HHH gets the belt back soon.

 

2/14/97 - Will someone, anyone please tell me why McMahon booked Maivia to win the IC belt??? There can't be a more worse choice other then maybe Brooklyn Brawler. I'll even accept Blahmed as IC champ. I mean what the hell has Maivia done to deserve such a push????? Does he have revealing pictures of McMahon????? Maivia makes Mongo McMichaels look like Rey Misterio Jr. I sure hope Maivia being an IC champ is a short term one.

 

2/15/98 - I agree with you completely. Go back and look at the match and you'll see that Rocky's only real offensive maneuvers were ducking and sending HHH over the ropes and the small package at the end. I don't understand how Vince can let this guy get his ass kicked all match and then win the title at the very end with a small package. It would have been one thing if it was just a match, but the fact that it was a title match is ridiculous. 2/18/97 - As I'm sure you all have, I've been thinking: why is Rocky Maivia Intercontinental champ? He's untalented and has no heat. You might think they wanted the belt off HHH (a viable theory, I guess, though I love the guy), but couldn't they have picked someone better than Rocky?

 

2/19/97 - People who think Rocky Maivia is not quite ready for a title run may have their points, but you also must understand that Vince would like to have a pure face hold at least one of the belts at present. I think, too, that Rocky needs to add to his repertoire, because a shoulder breaker is not a good enough finisher in the big matches. Anyone that thinks that Rocky should turn heel and join the Nation of Domination is out of their tree.

 

3/11/97 - WWF, the card looks fine. However, one thing's getting to me. Please take Rocky Maivia vs. The Sultan off the card. These guys suck, WWF. Both of them. A lot. I'm not alone in thinking this. That's the reason why everybody boos Rocky and nobody reacts at all to the Sultan. I was happy that you tried to build heat for the match this week on RAW by having the Sultan make his RAW debut, but this doesn't make him worthy of an Intercontinental title shot. "Kill Each Other"... clap clap clapclapclap

 

3/16/97 - Ahmed?? Where did this come from.. he's not that bad of a wrestler. He gets quite a bit of heat actually, and considering he's supposed to be a powerhouse wrestler plain and simple, I think he fits the role quite well. He can't interview worth a damn.. but her deserves his push much more than Rocky Maivia.. who IMHO should lose the belt to the Sultan, yes the Sultan.. that's how bad he is. 3/24/97 – [a live report from WrestleMania 13] Let me just say that they were heavily editing the sound on the fly. During the Maivia-Sultan match, half the crowd was chanting "Rocky sucks!" But when I watched the tape later, you could hardly hear it. The chants of "Austin! Austin! Austin!" which had to be from MORE than half the crowd during the submission match were totally deleted. For some reason I can't understand after tonight's heel turn, the deafening boos during the Hitman's entrance were done away with. "Godwinns suck" was localized in my section, but it was very loud and the arena was silent, so it should have been on TV.

 

4/23/97 - All I can say about this, is Tiger Woods is the Rocky Maivia of golf with one difference: he has TALENT.

 

11/25/97 - All of a sudden, I love this guy! The Rock taking over just made the NOD great. "Fix that incompetence" Making the match "non-title." ?! LOL! I missed the part where Farooq became the Rock's lieutenant, but I like it. This kid is funny and he's going to make a great heel. Austin's angle with him tonight was funnier and more creative than anything I've seen on Nitro in a long time. And speaking of funny, I hope Austn's new truck sees airtime everyweek

 

11/30/97 - Is it just me, or does Rocky Mavia sound like "Carlton" from the 'Fresh Prince of Bel-Air" when he is on the mic? I can't remember a wrestler who sounds so fucking scholarly as the Rock does.....He has the eye shit down tho doesnt he? I thought he was gonna pop a vein when SCSA was ragging on him during RIW a couple weeks ago......but he SUCKS on the mike!

 

12/14/97 - I Used to watch the WWF but got bored with it!! But with Rocky,,how he talks, the expressions with his eyes,, this guy is Funny as hell!! The latest is with Stone cold talking to Vince,,"The Rock" interrupts Vince,,,,then "The Rock's" views on World Hunger,,,This guy is REALLY funny!!! Maybe it's that "stiff" attitude..I don't know,,but I won't miss his interviews!! Just some of the Dumb shit he says!! he's Great!!

 

1/13/98 - Look, as much as a lot of you don't want to admit it, Rocky has gotten really good. He has improved everything. C'mon, I know you all want to hear Rocky's thoughts on health care, and you all want to hear what time it is from Rocky's rolex!

 

1/21/98 - i kinda chuckled when the cameras fully showed "The Rock sucks Cock"....I guess Vince lives up to his no censorship motto of signs.

 

1/28/98 – [note: at this point, RSPW is taking credit for creating the name ‘The Peoples Elbow’, as they had been using it prior to The Rock using it on screen] - You just know the WWF is going to start calling it the People's Elbow and everyone on RSPW is going to start getting excited.

 

2/8/98 - Thde deal for the WWF these days is Wrestlemania XIV, Mike Tyson, Shawn Michaels, and Steve Austin. Since Rocky Maivia is not in the center of any of the angles surrounding Mike Tyson and the main event at Wrestlemania, he's being ignored by the WWF bookers and Vince McMahon. An outside intruder to the business of professional wrestling and his involvement in the Michaels/Austin match is more important than the WWF IC Champ. That's how the WWF rate its workers.

 

3/15/98 – [note: a response to a report of Rock turning face] I just dont see it. He was a face once, and it didnt work. Now, he draws major heat...and people love him as a heel. He even came out with "The Peoples's Elbow" (hilarious!). Turning him face would be as bad as the heel turn Ahmed took.

 

9/13/98 - Nobody does a better interview than the Rock. He is young, extremely talented, and is one the few reasons to watch wrestling nowadays. The people's elbow has got to be the single most hilarious wrestling move I have ever seen. If you saw SS last night, you could the fans absolutely love this guy!! I've never seen someone with a funnier facial expression!! I, like everyone else, is sick of Austin. The Rock should be the next World Champion, IMO!! The people's elbow is the most devastating wrestling maneuver in the history of our grand sport!!

 

9/28/98 - He gives essentially the same interview everytime out. So he can read a script. Foley is an example of a truely great interview and you mention him as an afterthought.

 

9/30/98 - Ok so everybody is saying that Stone Cold has got to become a heel to regain his popularity again. People are also saying that the Rock can't be a face, that it would ruin what he has going. The question is this though. When the two meet, who' going to be the heel and who's going to be the face???

 

10/4/98 – [note: in response to complaints about a Rock face turn] The WWF never turned the Rock face. For some reason, the WWF fans cheered for the Rock overnight (literally). At Summerslam, he was a heel (although half the crowd cheered for him). The next Raw, the crowed loved him. Vinnie Mac is just taking advantage of it so he can sell a couple of million dollars worth in Rocky merchandise. He did the same thing with Austin and DX- and look at where they are now.

 

10/28/98 - No No No! WWF is already screwing up The Rock. The greatest thing about The People's Elbow is that it was the finisher that never finished anybody! Now he's ending matches with it? I love The Rock, I just don't want to see WWF screw up the way they did when people turned on him the first time.

 

[note: on 11/15/98 The Rock won the World Title via screwjob to become The Corporate Champ] 11/16/98 - Christ.... Whomever booked this deserves a round of applause.... Thank god the Rock is now a heel.

 

11/16/98 - Each and everyone of you HAVE to admit........ NO ONE saw ALL of the following coming............... * 1.) Shane screw Austin by NOT counting! * 2.) The Rock using the "Sharpshooter" (I'm sure Bret was shocked!) * 3.) The "McMahons" Using Mankind so the Rock could win...... It Was CLASSIC! Truely caught me off surprised a few times! I'm sure Austin will now win the Royal Rumble to face Rock at Wrestlemania. OH HELLLLL YEAH!

 

11/16/98 - Now who the hell saw that one coming? At the height of his face popularity he turns heel again. Now we can get back to the classic heel Rock interviews and let the Rock do what he does the best. It really is to early for him to turn face as we all seem to agree on. Now this should give him a nice long heel shelfspan until the people are truly ready for a Rock face turn. I wonder how all the marks are gonna feel now?

 

11/16/98 - This is my first ever post to the newsgroup, but I just had to let SOMEBODY know just how wonderfully booked I thought the Survivor Series was. I never saw the Shane or Rock turns coming. That's what makes the WWF so much better than WCW.

Wrestlers jumping from heel to face is so commonplace in the WCW that a similar turn would have been ho-hum there. The WWF does the heel/face switcharoo's comparitively rarely which keeps the concept fresh. I don't think I'd even be surprised if Goldberg joined the NWO! Granted this wasn't your Herb Kunze style "who cares about angles, it's the wrestling stupid!" PPV, but I still thought it was a superbly crafted piece of work.

I feel so much better now that I've finally posted something after all these years,

 

12/22/98 - The Rock got 0 mic time yesterday b/c HBK hogged it all up. HBK is annoying, he is old new. Rock is fresh and over with the fans ("Rocky SUCKS!" chants say it all). They need to unload HBK and give Rock more mic time and more main event stature like he deserves since he's the f'n champ.

 

- Roman Reigns is scheduled to appear on Conan on TBS on Tuesday night, March 24th. Kevin Hart and Incubus are also scheduled to appear.
