Admiro a fé daquele pessoal que acha que o Rojo ainda vai dar um grande centralão.

 

O Nuno Reis tem mais que valor para ficar no plantel.

 

Concordo com os dois.

 

Vejo o Rojo a dar um jogador razoavel no lado esquerdo e o Nuno Reis uma boa solução numa posição que está mais carenciada do que as pessoas querem fazer parecer.

Estava à espera de ver prayers ao Cissé por ter metido a bola no cantinho, como criticaram quando ele rematou contra o GR e marcou

Cedric -> Chaby - Martins - Cristian chemistry was incredible. 1st half they were shredding Penarol until Penarol started shifting everyone to the right side. Like I said in the other thread, Chaby has enough for me to forget about Bruma. Sporting is a winger factory and if Bruma wants to leave then that opens a spot for another young player. Carrillo hasn't put his iron clad stamp on the right, so Chaby is entitled to play. Cedric is an excellent "QB" of bringing the ball up and looking around, the over lapping runs on him and Chaby caused fits. Every so often Cristian and Martins would come over and overload the right.

 

Eduardo looked good coming from the left side. Eventually Capel came on, honestly he looked a bit slow. Shifty, but slow. Martins was awesome in the middle, he gave way to Labyad who had flashes of brilliance, but also mental lapses. He's not quite a 2 million euro player. Rojo was a complete beast. A lot thicker and taller than I thought, probably the biggest Argentine I've seen in real life. Great in the box slide tackle and taking away crosses. Jefferson stood out on dead balls, otherwise really didn't notice him much. Rinaudo seemed a little more controlled rather than running around like a psycho. Adrien seemed to play the box-to-box role adequately but looked lost between the time that Martins became RW and Labyad came in, when he was essentially CAM.

 

Cisse has great positioning, he comes back to help, he's not as fast as the prick Benfiquistas said he should be for a "preto" but he challenges for every header. He looks like he can shoot too.

 

William Carvalho looked like a good deep playmaker in the 2nd half when he shifted to DM from CM. He did tend to dwell on the ball when there were clear passing channels to the other teams box.

 

Rui unfortunately didn't make any noteworthy saves. He was own-goaled by Mauricio and beat on a partial 1 on 1. I can't remember the other goal, but it was a defensive blunder as well. Penarol doesn't have long shooters, you can tell they are a counter-attack team, but they couldn't counter against Sporting because our build up was quite good.

 

Overall I'd say Jardim has the perfect tactic picked out for us. I'm excited to see how Montero will fit in, either as a striking partner to Cisse or as a CF.

 

After the game I got RP's autograph and almost the entire team signed my jersey except for a few players, the only one of note that I didn't get was Labyad. My chest was almost crushed when RP came out by people pressing up against me, but I held out my glove and eventually he grabbed it and signed it. After the players signed I thanked each of them in Portuguese and english, they acknowledged it and smiled, there were a lot of people just autograph hounding with no thanks, Cedric and Dier were appreciative for my thanks I could arm pats and cheek slaps. I met BdC during his smoke breaks, he promised that the players would come out in groups of 3 and would sign, just be patient. Basically everyone 1/2 to the door got every players signature and they only entered the bus after making the rounds down both sides or someone tapped them and said it was time to leave. Conversely, the Penarol players ran to the bus and didn't sign for their fans, which is complete bullshit appreciation considering how far some of the fans traveled.

 

BdC looked drained and tired, but smiled when I congratulated him on the election and thanked him for bringing respect back to Sporting. He said that he feels Bruma will "likely" leave or sit out if we win the case. Monaco is pressuring Sporting heavily for Rui Patricio, they just haven't set up a meeting yet due to our pre-season. That's all he said on the subject, but I could tell he was tipping his hat that Rui might be playing his final games for us.

 

Rui was the most in demand autograph. He was totally classy and very nice. He shook my hand and I have not washed it since.

 

That's it. Sorry for the essay, but this was far more fun and engaging than the Juventus game.
