andriy pereplyotkin Publicado 26 Maio 2013 Suns enter head coach contract talks with Jeff Hornacek Paul Coro's Suns blog | azcentral sports The Suns grudgingly said goodbye to Jeff Hornacek in 1992 when trading him to Philadelphia meant acquiring Charles Barkley. Hornacek later became even more beloved in Utah but Phoenix remained his family home and it is about to become his NBA home again. Hornacek and the Suns are in negotiations on a contract for him to become Phoenix’s new head coach. Hornacek drove from his cross-town Valley home and interviewed impressively with the Suns this week, when they also interviewed Houston assistant J.B. Bickerstaff. Hornacek did very well in an interview with Charlotte for its head coach position but his personal ties to Phoenix and the Suns make it a more attractive job for him and leave little doubt that a three-year contract will get done soon. Philadelphia was also interested in Hornacek for its vacant head coaching job. Hornacek, 50, joined the Jazz as a shooting coach shortly before the 2007 playoffs and moved into a full-time assistant coach role two years ago when Tyrone Corbin, a former Suns teammate, took over the Jazz coaching job from Jerry Sloan. He has spent much of his time working with Utah’s younger players for a background that meshes well with Suns general manager Ryan McDonough’s statement that he wanted the franchise’s next head coach to be a teacher as well as a leader. In the wake of Lance Blanks’ firing, Suns president of basketball operations Lon Babby said that the Suns needed to do a better job reaching back into the franchise’s rich past and embracing its success. Hiring Hornacek, qualified in his own right as a coach, would do that. Hornacek played six seasons for the Suns, making a bad team as a second-round draft pick and becoming part of a dramatic franchise turnaround with two conference finals trips and an All-Star season in 1991-92 in which he averaged 20 points. Hornacek was head coaching material before he had even coached. Danny Ainge, McDonough’s former boss, made Hornacek a head coaching finalist in Boston when he hired Doc Rivers in 2004. He only delayed joining the coaching ranks and then full-time status to be a bigger part of the lives of his three kids, two of whom have graduated from college and one is in college. Hornacek, who played for Cotton Fitzsimmons and Jerry Sloan, has always been respected for how intelligently he saw the game and a demeanor that has struck the right balance with players as a teammate and then a coach. Fonte Jeff Hornacek offered Suns' coaching job Adrian Wojnarowski Yahoo! Expert One of the Phoenix Suns' popular former players – Jeff Hornacek – has been offered the franchise's head coaching job, league sources told Yahoo! Sports. Jazz assistant Jeff Hornacek is the leading candidate to become the Suns' new head coach. (USA Today Sports)The Suns and Hornacek will work the weekend to finalize contract parameters on an agreement, sources said. Hornacek is eager to be the Suns' next head coach. The Suns and Hornacek have already started work on assembling an assistant coaching staff. An assistant coach with the Utah Jazz, Hornacek met with new Suns general manager Ryan McDonough, president Lon Babby and owner Robert Sarver the past week in Phoenix. Hornacek, 50, played the first six seasons of his 14-year NBA career with the Suns and remains a popular figure in the community. He keeps his offseason home in the Phoenix area. For the Suns, Hornacek would fit the profile of a coach who could grow with the franchise's plan to rebuild through young players and the draft. Phoenix has six first-round picks available over the next three years, and player development will be a top priority. The Suns met with Houston Rockets assistant J.B. Bickerstaff on Friday and have received permission to interview Los Angeles Lakers assistant coach Steve Clifford. Clifford remains a strong candidate for head-coaching openings with the Bucks and Charlotte Bobcats. The Suns former interim coach, Lindsey Hunter, also interviewed for the job. Hornacek also interviewed for the Bobcats' coaching opening this week.

A seguir a ele o Joerger, o Budenholzer e o Bickerstaff. THIS. IS. MY THREAD. Goodbye Jeff Hornacek - Dianaallen When the Zone has interviewed the assistant coaches or during the halftime interviews with assistants, Jeff was the only coach I felt that said anything concrete, anything useful. What we'd hear from Sanders and Lowe is much like what we'd hear from Corbin, just a bunch of jargon. Jeff on the other hand would name specific things players had to do better, he would talk about specific plays, it wasn't the usual, "continue to get better" "work harder". Over the years it seems like Jeff as been great at working with the players, building relationships with them. Horny is the coach that seems to have pulled the Cour Four aside in timeouts to give instructions to or to encourage them. Hornacek will be greatly missed. Horny in Logan - Kurt Adison - Giving a free speech to a small audience His family did not have money for him to go to college. He worked making cups for McDonald's his freshman year. He worked hard to earn a scholarship and pushed himself to make it playing basketball. His duties grew when Korver asked him to "watch him shoot". At that time Korver shot the ball flat and helped him with his arch. Then Wesley Matthews asked for help and etc. He works with Gordon Hayward a lot now. One other thing he mentioned was that players don't seem to practice as much anymore. In "the old days", you would shoot from 9-10am then practice 10-12pm, come back after lunch to shoot some more. Now he says "it's like pulling teeth to get guys to stay for a 1/2 hr to shoot after practice. They like to run home to their video games." Suns should consider Hornacek - Tom Chambers - arizonasports.com "One name that always comes to my mind who was a coach of mine even though he wasn't a coach on the court was Jeff Hornacek," said Chambers. "He was spectacular, played in the league and was an All-Star in the league. "I believe firmly that if you've done it and you're asking these kids today to do something you've already done, it's an easier task. Jeff came from a coaching family, he's always been a coach, he had to always work to hone his game...He knows what hard work is all about." Hornacek a good fit for Suns - Jared Bray As an assistant with the Jazz, Horny has helped several players improve their shooting technique. In fact, thanks to Coach Hornacek, Alec Burks went from shooting 29.2 percent from behind the arc in college to 35.0 as a pro. Likewise, Gordon Hayward was able to increase his 3-point shooting percentage from 34.6 in 2011-12 to 41.5 this past season. "Having a great shooter like that work with me helped a lot," Hayward said. "Not just with mechanics, but with my confidence." Hornacek on fast track for head coaching job - Gordon Monson And that's the key - similar in some ways to what Mark Jackson has done at Golden State - to what Hornacek could bring to a team as a head coach: an easy, intelligent approach, but one that still has high standards for success. Some observers might think Hornacek is too nice of a guy, too well-adjusted. But he has always had a no-nonsense competitive streak that runs to his core. That's what enabled him to go on playing on one leg, dragging the other up and down the floor, in his latter seasons. It's what helped him walk on at Iowa State and win, what helped him become an All-Star as a second-round pick by Phoenix. Former Suns CEO Jerry Colangelo once said of Hornacek: "Most of the people in the league thought Jeff was too slow, not good enough to play in the NBA. But there was something special about him. He had a big heart." Amar Smith - Manager - SLC Dunk "Personally it will be tough to see," Amar Smith, manager of SLC Dunk said via email this morning. "Because Jeff has been a huge part of my fan experience. Furthermore, the Jazz can't draft players who can't shoot anymore because he would take the extra time out of his life to give private coaching -- even Kyle Korver (who set an NBA record for 3pt% in a season) attributes Jeff for that mark. He makes your struggling offensive players better, and makes your great offensive players find another two or three shots in their arsenal. "A number of Jazz fans would rather we trade you former Suns player Tyrone Corbin and keep Jeff. But our front office made their decision. "And we wish Jeff all the best. Suns fans will love him. Well, they already do love him from the pre-Barkley years. "All the best Jeff."

Nuk Publicado 28 Maio 2013 (editado) Ok ficam a faltar, Hollins, Drew e Sampson.

Nuk Publicado 29 Maio 2013 There is a rising belief among NBA executives that the Milwaukee Bucks prefer to re-sign Monta Ellis over Brandon Jennings this offseason, when likely both will be free agents. Ellis will become an unrestricted free agent if he opts out of the one season left on his contract. Jennings will be a restricted free agent on July 1. There is a sense the Bucks prefer Ellis and J.J. Redick in their backcourt moving forward.

No structured schedule has been set for Malone’s participation. Gosto. Compartilhar este post Link para o post
