United join race to sign Arsenal and Chelsea target Thiago from Barcelona

 

 

Manchester United have made a strong enquiry about highly-rated Barcelona midfielder Thiago Alcantara.

 

The Spaniard scored a delightful free kick to help his side beat Switzerland in the European Under 21 Championship final on Sunday.

 

 

 

But while United have moved to the head of the race for his signature, Barcelona are keen to use the starlet as a makeweight in a deal for Arsenal's Cesc Fabregas.

 

Chelsea are also understood to have been interested in Thiago.

O ainda guarda-redes do Atlético Madrid, David de Gea, chegou esta segunda-feira a Manchester para realizar exames médicos e assinar contrato com o United.

 

Segundo o Daily Mail, o internacional sub-21 espanhol esteve no Bridgewater Hospital para realizar os habituais exames médicos, condição essencial para o Manchester United possa oficializar a contratação do sucessor de Van der Sar. De Gea foi o escolhido por Alex Ferguson para render o veterano holandês que se despediu dos relvados no final da temporada.

 

Com o Thiago podemos fechar o plantel para a nova temporada.

Sky Sports sources understand Sunderland have bid in excess of £8m for Ipswich rising star Connor Wickham.

 

 

Alex McLeish has sounded out Nigel Reo-Coker about making a shock return to Aston Villa.

 

The 27-year-old was one of 10 players released at the end of last season under Gerard Houllier.

 

Brazil playmaker Diego is on Villa's radar after issuing a come-and-get-me plea to Premier League clubs.

 

But Villa boss Alex McLeish would need to move on several of the club's big earners in order to accommodate the Wolfsburg star.

 

The departure of Ashley Young and Nigel Reo-Coker has given McLeish room for manoeuvre, although he has made a new goalkeeper and a winger his priority, especially if Stewart Downing moves to Liverpool.

 

Wolfsburg are keen to get rid of the Brazil international after he fell out with the German club's management.

 

And, with three years left on his contract, the 26-year-old could be allowed to leave on a season-long loan.

 

Diego, who was linked with the claret and blues in 2008 when Martin O'Neill was in charge, confirmed that there has been interest from Premier League clubs but refused to confirm if Villa were among them.

 

He said: "I prefer not to mention the names of clubs out of respect for the managers and the owners, but it's true that there is contact with some clubs in England.

 

"Of course I will give these offers special attention because it's my dream to play in the Premier League. At this moment, England is where I want to play.

 

"We are just starting to have conversations with clubs so it's too early to say where I will be going, but it would be perfect if I can play in the Premier League.

 

"I have no idea in this moment of the exact fee, but I think because Wolfsburg and myself both want the same solution it will not be so difficult.

 

"When everybody wants the same outcome it makes things easier but I have not been told a number yet.

 

"I think it's best if the club and myself go in different directions. I hope the move can work out well for everyone."

 

Aston Villa are considering a bid for Stoke winger Matthew Etherington as they consider replacements for Ashley Young and Liverpool target Stewart Downing.

 

Ex-Villa midfielder James Milner, Wigan's Charles N'Zogbia, Wolves' Matt Jarvis and Den Haag's Wesley Verhoek are other possibles.

 

Manager Alex McLeish has also added Blackpool's Matt Gilks to his list of goalkeeping targets with Bolton's Ali Al Habsi and Manchester City's Shay Given.

O Manchester United anunciou esta quarta-feira no seu site oficial a contratação do guarda-redes espanhol David De Gea ao Atlético Madrid.

O guardião, de 20 anos, passou nos testes médicos e assinou um contrato válido para as próximas cinco épocas com os red devils.

“Estou muito honrado por poder jogar num clube tão grande. Mal posso esperar para começar a jogar”, afirmou De Gea, que vai ser o substituto de Van der Sar em Old Trafford.

Entretanto o Atlético Madrid também já confirmou a transferência de De Gea para Manchester, mas nenhum dos clubes avança com o valor da operação.
