Well, the season is over for us. Nothing much to play for, I don't believe we would finish below 3rd either. So, another failed season, another season of excuses, basically same fking old story. Do we need to replace the manager? Do we need a takeover? Wenger says he have enough funds the challenge chelsea on transfer market, but I don't believe he will buy to block Eastmond in midfield. So what do we really need in the squad? I am sure we have plenty of depth this year, but circumstances still manager to conspire, putting us out of trophies reach.

 

So let us analyse our squad in each position 4-3-3. No overlapping allowed because that would give us a false depth.

Analysis - Almunia is not good enough, and from AW's comments, we will be shipping him out thankfully. Fabianski is one unknown quantity, despite his howler I don't think we can judge him without a good run in in the side. I would sell him if he is not good enough because he sucks in a number 2 role due to his proneness to fumbling goals without match practice. Scznesny and Mannone will make good reserves keeper.

 

Verdict - Buy a new goalkeeper, in order of preference Lloris, Frey, Hart, Neuer, Akinfeev, Adler. Basically we really need one hell of a goalie for us.

Analysis - We have 2 different style of right back, both good enough for us so no change needed here. Gavin Hoyte dosen't look good enough when he played, but after a season on loan, will he improve?

Analysis - 3 very dependable leftbacks, so once again nothing is to be changed here.

Analysis - Gallas is getting old and injury proned. But we should keep him just simply based on his commitment when playing for us and his experience is vital in games. Vermaelen has been a shewd signing by AW and isn't injury prone, so basically he is the main defender in the first team. Djourou, quite an unknown quantity after his season long injury, but should be a good 4th choice.

 

Verdict - Campbell and Bartley would be very good emergency defenders. Campbell would basically stay just to give our lads a push when they need it. We MIGHT need a last defender so that when injury crisis strucks, we don't have a repeat of the past 3 seasons horror. Silvestre should be sold, no doubt. Kjaer, Subotic, Sakho, any good dependable young CBs will do.

Analysis - Definitely needs one more, but I doubt AW can see this. He will be desperately hoping nobody blocks Eastmond progression to the first team, but for me Craig is still not good enough as a reserve. DM is a very taxing position for anyone to play week in week out without rest, so Song needs someone to rotate with.

 

Verdict - Toulalan is the best choice due to reasons I mentioned in another thread, but might be overpriced. Any decent backup will be satisfying for us tbh, Melo, Matuidi, Inler...

Analysis - Plenty of depth here, don't need much chopping and changing. I would sell Randall though because he isnt good enough, and a new DM would also give people in here to rotate.

Analysis - 5 players for us on the wingers position. Arshavin shows how much we missed him when he is injury, but he needs to up his fitness to a better level. No change needed here to be honest, but a luxury buy will be welcomed. Someone like Hazard

Analysis - Plenty of depth here, not too much quality this season though. Chamakh will help us alot in our link up plays and hold up of ball up front, and RVP will score plenty if he isn't injured. Bendtner is a very good squad player to have.

 

Verdict - Vela should stay as 4th choice striker based on his talent alone. Eduardo is not the same player anymore so he should be shipped out. Simpson isn't good enough for us so same, out.

 

That leaves us with a final verdict of, manager staying on the basis of

Isto é um post retirado do Arsenal Mania, sendo uma análise de um user ao plantel da época 2010/2011.

 

Obviamente que muitas das coisas estão desactualizadas (Gallas, Silvestre, Mérida e Eduardo já não estão e falta o Laurent), mas pareceu-me um excelente texto para discussão.

 

Eu concordo com muitas (grande maioria) das coisas que o rapaz diz.

 

Ainda se espera pelo tão falado GR, uma posição extremamente necessitada de reforço, sendo que, a meu ver, se poderia apostar no Sorensen ou Lloris.

 

Na defesa, nas laterais parece-me que o plantel está bem servido, contudo, na parte central, Vermaelen, Laurent, Djourou e Campbell deveriam receber complemento, nomeadamente um central de nomeada com experiência - não tanta como a do Sol. É que o Laurent pode demorar bastante tempo a adaptar-se e não tenho plena confiança no Djorou, nem no Campbell, para não falar da incógnita chamada Nordtveit.

 

No meio-campo, não vejo posições muito carentes de reforços. Não me acredito que o Wenger contrate alguém para esse sector do campo, nem mesmo na parte mais recuada, dado que deve acentuar a aposta no Eastmond.

 

Nas alas, tudo perfeito. Apenas referir que, este ano, pretendo ver o Walcott na forma que já demonstrou em anos anteriores e que, ultimamente, não tem conseguido alcançar.

 

No centro do ataque, parece-me tudo bem - não é daí que vêm problemas.

 

 

O meu 11, para esta época, é algo como:

 

(GR a contratar); Sagna, Vermaelen, Laurent / central a contratar e Clichy; Song, Diaby, Cesc; Rosicky, Arshavin e Van The Man.
