Ray Wilkins, adjunto de Carlo Ancelotti no Chelsea, diz que o internacional português Paulo Ferreira é um profissional exemplar que tem sido determinante para manter a coesão do plantel da equipa londrina.

WEST HAM, Riquelme: "I can play in any side"

Juan Roman Riquelme insists he can still compete at the highest level and would not look out of place in the Premier League if he completes a move to West Ham.

 

Riquelme, 31, is out of contract at Boca Juniors and was close to agreeing a move to Brazilian side Flamengo before he was made aware of interest from several European clubs.

 

The Argentine legend has a wealth of experience having played in the Champions League with Villarreal and Barcelona and would love the chance to showcase his talents in England.

 

West Ham have emerged as the strong favourites to clinch his signature after reports in Argentina suggested he favours a move to London and has been impressed by the plans which co-owners David Sullivan and David Gold have got for the club.

LIVERPOOL, Agger: "I am committed to Liverpool despite Rafael Benitez exit"

Liverpool centre-back Daniel Agger has announced that Rafael Benitez's departure as manager has no bearing on his future at the club.

 

The 25-year-old, who was signed by Benitez from Danish side Brondby in 2006, was quick to praise the Spaniard, who left Anfield to take over at Inter earlier this month, but insists he will not seek an exit from the club despite the change in management.

 

"The time with him was good," Agger told Liverpool's official club website.

 

"He is a good manager, he knows his stuff and he knows what football is about."

 

"When I return from my summer holiday, I'll see what is new, but his exit has no bearing on my future."

 

"I'm committed to Liverpool."

 

Agger made 36 appearances in all competitions for Liverpool last season, scoring just one goal in a Europa League tie against Portuguese side Benfica.

Joe Cole has told pals he wants to join Manchester United.

The England ace becomes a free agent next Wednesday when his Chelsea contract expires.

The midfielder, 28, had been expected to join Arsenal.

But now it seems Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is set to lose out to Old Trafford boss Alex Ferguson in the race for Cole's signature.

Spurs boss Harry Redknapp and Real Madrid chief Jose Mourinho have both managed Cole in the past and are keen to do so again - but are also set to miss out.

Chelsea skipper John Terry admits he is stunned at the move.

Terry said: "It still amazes me how the club have come to the conclusion of letting Joe go."

MANCHESTER CITY, Adebayor: "I am staying"

Emmanuel Adebayor insists he is staying with Manchester City and looking forward to the new season.

 

The former Arsenal star moved to Eastlands for a fee close to £25million last summer.

 

14 Premier League goals arrived in his maiden campaign, but despite this - he has been linked with a possible move, as City themselves look to invest heavily once again during this close-season.

 

Strikers such as Fernando Torres, Edin Dzeko, Mario Balotelli and Mirko Vucinic have been linked with possible moves.

 

But Adebayor insists he is staying put and said: "I'm looking forward to next season."

 

"It's going to be very difficult. But that's football."

 

City look as if they could be making moves shortly in the market with reports suggesting that they are close to agreeing deal for a trio of World Cup stars.

 

Sources claim that James Milner, Yaya Toure and David Silva, all currently with their respective countries in South Africa, could be set to finalise deals to City.

ARSENAL, Ramsey recovering fast

Arsenal's winger Aaron Ramsey is progressing well with his recovery after injury. According to club's staff, he's already started running and it shouldn't take long before he will have the chance to start working again.

Ramsey broke his leg four months ago. Doctors stated then that he will return to playing in autumn. If current progress of the player will continue he will probably join Arsenal earlier.

E se entendo a saída do Clichy (embora não haja uma alternativa digna), não compreendo a entrada do Melo. Há jogadores de sobra para essa posição.

Anas Sharbini: Aston Villa Move for the 'New Boban' as Milner Replacement

 

Reports in Croatia suggest Aston Villa are closing in on Croatian duo Anas Sharbini and Mario Mandzukic in a double transfer coup. Here is our rundown on attacking midfielder Sharbini dubbed the 'New Boban'.

 

The latest Croat star to be linked with a move to the Premier League is 23-year-old Hadjuk Split midfield star Anas Sharbini. Celtic reportedly made a tentative enquiry two seasons ago and Liverpool were strongly linked in the Croatian press last summer but it is Aston Villa who look set to sign the talented player. Sharbini moved to Hadjuk Split last summer from Rijeka after scoring a hat-trick for his old club on the opening day of the season. The attacking midfielder had an excellent scoring record for his first club Rijeka but has found things more difficult since his move. This has not deterred Martin O'Neill who sees the Croat as the ideal cheap replacement for James Milner if he does secure a move to Manchester City.

 

Last season Sharbini made 22 league appearances for the club (19 starts) and scored 3 goals, two of which were penalties. Hadjuk would like to keep him but Villa's financial backing may be too much for the Croatian club to resist despite finishing runner-up to Dinamo Zagreb last season. The player was played in a more withdrawn role last season which explains why the goals dried up. If O'Neill does bring the player to Villa Park he is sure to play in a more advanced attacking role where he has built a reputation as the Croatian Frank Lampard.

 

Sharbini's talent was brought to public attention in the 2007/08 season after a superb campaign in which the attacking midfielder scored 11 goals in 28 League appearances (27 starts). This superb form led to a call up to the Croatian national squad as a reserve in case of injuries for Euro 2008. He's yet to play for his country at full international level but that's no surprise with the likes of Spurs pairing Luka Modric and Niko Kranjcar ahead of him. Villa are resigned to losing Milner which will give the club the funds to bring in some much needed goal scoring talent and Sharbini fits the Aston Villa bill perfectly.

 

The young star enjoyed another excellent season in 2008/09 with a further 14 League goals in 27 League appearances. Sharbini's goal tally was only bettered by two other players that season. The talented star started the 2009/10 season for Rijeka in sensational style with a hat-trick in the club's opening league match and a further strike in their Europa League qualifying defeat to Ukrainian outfit Metalist before moving to Hadjuk Split. The player has been tracked by Aston Villa for some time but once Milner's future is confirmed, Martin O'Neill is expected to make his move. Even if Milner is not sold, Villa may still look to bring in the Croat as the current squad is relatively small and for £4m, Sharbini is relatively inexpensive.

 

Sharbini is a technically gifted, quick, two-footed playmaker and could prove a bargain buy for Martin O'Neill as he aims to add to the creativity of his Villans side. The club are looking to strengthen their midfield options with more attacking players to build on a strong 2009/10 season which ultimately ended with defeat in both cups and failure to compete with big spending Spurs and Man City for 4th spot. With Steven Sidwell and Nigel Reo-Coker both expected to depart Villa Park, new recruits are definitely needed and Sharbini fits both the requirement for quality and price.

 

The Croatian star's father was born in Damascus but moved to Rijeka in the 1980's, therefore Sharbini could have opted for Syria at international level but instead chose the country of his and his mother's birth. At 5 ft 11 he is not as lightweight as compatriot Luka Modric so may settle quicker in terms of the physical nature of British football. He is also renowned for his set-piece capabilities and has been tagged the 'new Boban' by the Croatian press which is high praise indeed. He would add a further goal threat to Aston Villa's midfield as either a replacement for Milner or a player to compete with for a starting place at Villa Park.

West Ham fecha dupla contratação

O West Ham garantiu o concurso do extremo mexicano Pablo Barrera (ex-Pumas) e do avançado Frederic Piquionne (ex-Lyon).

Para garantir a contratação do internacional mexicano Pablo Barrera o West Ham teve de oferecer cerca de cinco milhões ao Pumas. O jogador vai assinar por quatro anos, com opção por mais uma temporada.


Depois de ter estado emprestado, na temporada passada, ao Portsmouth, Piquionne assinou por três temporadas com o clube inglês, que ofereceu cerca de um milhão de euros ao Lyon.
