cadete Publicado 18 Dezembro 2009 Premier League - Guus Hiddink's agent claims approach from Manchester City Cees van Nieuwenhuizen has said he was contacted by City chief executive Garry Cook to request talks with Hiddink, but the former Chelsea boss' agent politely declined. "Yes, I did (speak to Cook). But Guus is happy with Russia. Definitely," Van Nieuwenhuizen told the Daily Telegraph. Van Nieuwenhuizen is not aware whether Cook wanted to discuss the possibility of Cook succeeding manager Mark Hughes or being installed alongside the Welshman. "I don't know because I said it was not worth discussing it because Guus was happy," he said. "I had a call because I have been working with Garry for 12 years since we worked together at Nike. He (Cook) asked me if it would be worthwhile having a meeting to discuss the future and what might happen next summer. But I told him that Guus was contracted to Russia. "I said I didn't think it was worth having a meeting. Guus is very relaxed. He starts his holiday on Saturday and in January there are elections for a new president for the Russian Federation. "He is contracted until next summer but there is an offer for him to stay for two more years, and I think he will definitely stay." Pressure is mounting on Hughes following six wins in City's opening 16 Barclays Premier League matches this season, which leaves them eighth in the table. Van Nieuwenhuizen expects Hiddink to remain with Russia beyond his current deal, which expires next summer. City are not the only club to express an interest in Hiddink. Van Nieuwenhuizen added: "I have received calls from all over the world about Guus. There has also been an approach from Juventus." Compartilhar este post Link para o post

Mister Master Publicado 18 Março 2010 Villa target £9m deal for Spurs ace - Exclusive Aston Villa are favourites to land Robbie Keane this summer - as Celtic boss Tony Mowbray faces up to losing the striker. Spurs hitman Keane, 29, has been a big success on loan at Parkhead, where he has scored eight goals in eight games. Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp wants to sell the forward in the summer as he has now decided to keep Roman Pavlyuchenko. But Celtic cannot afford a permanent deal for the £9million-rated ace, who earns around £65,000-a-week. That has let in Villa, whose wage structure can accommodate Keane. Boss Martin O'Neill is a big fan and will fund the move for Keane by selling several fringe players like Habib Beye, Steve Sidwell and Nicky Shorey. Keane returned to White Hart Lane in January 2009 for £12m after flopping at Liverpool.

Mister Master Publicado 1 Abril 2010 Martin O’Neill was forced to cancel a sunshine break in Portugal with his players – because they refused to go. The Aston Villa boss planned to take his squad away for a four-day holiday this week after gaining the permission of the club’s American owner Randy Lerner. Lerner was ready to pay for the break to help re-charge his players’ batteries ahead of the crunch FA Cup semi-final with Chelsea a week on Saturday. But the entire Villa squad decided they would prefer to stay at home in Birmingham instead, or make their own arrangements for a break with friends and family. Suggestions each player was threatened with a £5,000 fine for refusing to agree to the Portugal jaunt have been denied by sources close to the squad. But one source revealed that club captain Stiliyan Petrov was sent to see O’Neill to tell him the squad weren’t interested in going away together. “The players asked Petrov to go and speak with the manager to see if they could get the trip cancelled,” said the source. O’Neill has spent the last couple of weeks waiting for a break in a packed March schedule in which Villa played six games in 21 days. He had pinpointed this week or next, ahead of the Wembley FA Cup showdown with Chelsea, as the ideal time for a break. But O’Neill was left staggered when his players reported back stating they did not want to go on an organised club trip so soon after their 7-1 Premier League humiliation at Stamford Bridge. Only a few weeks ago O’Neill hinted it was virtually impossible to get well-paid stars to agree to bonding trips as a club, because they would prefer to do their own thing. He said after the Chelsea debacle: “We will try our best to have a rest. I don’t think any of the boys wants to think about Chelsea and talk about it because it’s a result that everyone wants to forget and get out of the way as quickly as possible.” Compartilhar este post Link para o post

Mister Master Publicado 13 Abril 2010 Summer exodus ? The current financial crisis hitting Liverpool may lead to several of their players leaving at the end of the season. According to latest rumours in Italy, Spain and the UK, this is what could happen during the summer's transfer market : - Coach Rafael "Rafa" Benitez is strongly linked with a move to either Juventus or Real Madrid. His departure would lead to finding an affordable and probably "more British, less cosmopolitan" replacement. The most realistic candidates to take Benitez's place are Martin O'Neill (Aston Villa), Alex McLeish (Birmingham City) and Sam Allardyce (Blackburn Rovers). - There is a 50% chance for captain Steven Gerrard to leave Anfield Road. Given his undeniable attachment to the club, the 29-year-old could decide to remain with the motivation of leading the team into a new era. However, he will have to ponder on the fact that he is tracked by Barcelona, Real Madrid, Inter Milan and Juventus. - Striker Fernando Torres recently made it clear that he expects the club board to plan on signing more high profile players in the summer as the move would convince him to stay. Considering Liverpool's financially dire situation, it will be quite hard to please the 26-year-old Spanish international. Therefore, Torres will likely leave and join either Barcelona (if Zlatan Ibrahimovic leaves) or Manchester City or Juventus. - Argentine midfielder Javier Mascherano stated he was close to renewing his contract and remain. But, that was almost three weeks ago. Since then, Liverpool have been put up for sale and the club's future transfer market strategy is uncertain now. The 25-year-old could end up moving to Real Madrid, although he is tracked by Juventus too. Moreover, Barcelona may renew last year's interest and try a new approach in July (especially if Yaya Toure' leaves). - Defender Jamie Carragher is strongly rumoured to leave as well. The 32-year-old is still waiting for a contract renewal but the club board cannot afford him anymore. Therefore, it was not so surprising to recently hear him tell UK media sources that he will leave without a new deal. Carrager could join Tottenham Hotspur or Manchester City. - Other players on the way out are central defenders Daniel Agger and Martin Skrtel, left-back Emiliano Insua, wingers Maximiliano "Maxi" Rodriguez, Yossi Benayoun, Albert Riera, Ryan Babel and midfielder Lucas. - Fortunately for Liverpool fans, some of the other most representative players will most likely remain. These are goalkeeper Jose' Manuel "Pepe" Reina, centre-back Sotirios Kyrgiakos, right-back Glen Johnson, left-back Fabio Aurelioand forward Dirk Kuyt. - As regards to signings, they will be linked to whoever will replace Benitez. Therefore, it is a big question mark for Liverpool at this time. However, it is foreseeable that quality players with lesser international resonance will be signed.
