The New Orleans Hornets announced today that they have signed free agent guard/forward Devin Brown. Per team policy, terms of the contract were not released.

“Devin is a proven NBA player and he’ll help strengthen our backcourt with his ability to play both the shooting guard and the small forward positions,” said Hornets General Manager Jeff Bower. “He knows our system and we are glad that he is back as a Hornet.”

Brown (6-5, 210) is a six-year NBA veteran, holding career averages of 7.5 points, 3.0 rebounds and 1.6 assists in 352 games while a member of the Cleveland Cavaliers, Denver Nuggets, New Orleans/Oklahoma City Hornets, San Antonio Spurs and Utah Jazz.

“I am thrilled to be back on the Hornets,” Brown said. “The team is filled with great talent and playing with a point guard like Chris Paul is a joy. I am excited to be in New Orleans, I have a lot of family in the city, so it has always been a second home to me.”

The undrafted product of the University of Texas-San Antonio appeared in 78 games (20 starts) and played in 22.6 minutes for the Cleveland Cavaliers during the 2007-08 season, averaging 7.5 points along with 3.4 rebounds and 2.2 assists. Brown had his best season as a pro with the Hornets during the 2006-07 season, averaging a career-high 11.6 points in 58 games (49 starts). He also had career-high’s in minutes per game (28.7), rebounds (4.3) and assists (2.6).

Darius Miles nos Celtics :o

Celtics Sign Darius Miles

The Boston Celtics announced today that they have signed free agent forward Darius Miles. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Miles, a 6'9", 235lbs forward out of East St. Louis High School has posted career averages of 10.6 points, 5.2 rebounds and 1.15 blocks in 412 career games. Miles was originally drafted with the third overall pick in the 2000 NBA draft by the Los Angeles Clippers. Miles last played for the Portland Trail Blazers during the 2005-06 season when he averaged a career high 14.0 points and 4.6 rebounds in 40 games. Miles missed all of the 2006-07 and 2007-08 seasons due to microfracture surgery on his right knee.

"Darius has been in twice for workouts with us and has impressed us with his progress, health, and attitude;" said Danny Ainge, Celtics Executive Director of Basketball Operations/General Manager. "Darius will have the next couple of months to prove to myself and Coach Rivers that he can help us win."

The Bellville, Illinois native became the first player in NBA history to receive All-Rookie honors straight out of high school when he averaged 9.4 points and 1.54 blocks for the Clippers in the 2000-01 season. Miles scored in double-figures in 31 of the 40 games that he appeared in during his last NBA season in 2005-06. As a starter in 23 of those 40 games he averaged 16.9 points, 5.0 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 1.2 steals and 1.2 blocks per game.

"I've watched the Boston Celtics play a lot last year and loved what I saw in their teamwork and chemistry on the court and it's the team that I want to try to resume my career with." said Miles. "I am excited about having an opportunity to play on a team that I feel my personality fits with and a team that can have great success on the court."

A última franquia repassaria Wallace para o time canadense.

They're doing it for the... Draft!!!

Warriors, Knicks agree on Harrington, Crawford deal

The New York Knicks were expected to announce a trade for Golden State Warriors forward Al Harrington on Friday.

Media reports had the Knicks sending guard Jamal Crawford to Golden State, though it was unclear if he was the only player.

A trade was expected to be announced later Friday, according to a person with knowledge of the deal who spoke on condition of anonymity because it hadn't been completed.

Knicks coach Mike D'Antoni said on Friday that his roster was likely to change before the Knicks' game against the Bucks on Friday night, acknowledging reports that Knicks president Donnie Walsh was working on several trades.

"Let's wait until it happens -- if it happens," D'Antoni said before the morning shootaround. "Obviously, that would be tampering if I said something."

D'Antoni said he expected Walsh to make moves to reshape the team in hopes of clearing salary cap space before the summer of 2010, and this might be the first.

"The thing is, I think this will happen a few times during the year, because I think Donnie has got his plan, and he will execute it as he sees fit," D'Antoni said. "And we'll go forward. Now is this the first step? I don't know for sure."

Crawford said he first heard about the potential deal Thursday night and now considers it "more likely" than not that the trade will happen. But he wasn't letting it bother him.

"When I was younger, when I first got in the league and you hear trade rumors, (I was) nervous then," Crawford said. "But now? No. Because you can't worry about stuff you can't control."

D'Antoni acknowledged that a trade could dramatically shorten his bench for Friday's game and temporarily disrupt the team's focus.

"I think this is where you have to be professional," D'Antoni said. "This is where it's tough, and it's a hard part of the business."

Knicks not done dealing, pull off deal with Clippers

By David Aldridge, TNT analyst

Posted Nov 21 2008 4:45PM

In one 24-hour period, the New York Knicks have officially made themselves real players for the NBA's best free-agent class in a generation, and can now realistically make a run not only at LeBron James, but perhaps multiple free agents in the summer of 2010.

The Knicks are finalizing a deal, their second of the day, that would send forward Zach Randolph and guard Mardy Collins to the Los Angeles Clippers in exchange for forward Tim Thomas and guard Cuttino Mobley. A conference call to go over the particulars of the deal with the league is being set up for later this afternoon. The Clippers may also be sending a future second-round pick to New York in the deal, according to a source.

The Knicks backed off of their earlier request for a future first-round pick from Los Angeles, a request that had delayed the culmination of the trade for a few hours after news of the deal broke earlier Friday morning.

New York gets Thomas (9.5 points per game in five starts) , who shined for new Knicks coach Mike D'Antoni during the 2006 playoffs when both were in Phoenix. It was Thomas' clutch three-pointer in the waning seconds that saved the Suns' season in their first-round matchup against the Los Angeles Lakers. Down 3-2 in the series, and down three in Game 6, Thomas' three with 6.3 seconds left in regulation tied the score at 105 and forced overtime. The Suns eventually won, with Thomas scoring 21 points, and routed the Lakers in Game 7, eventually getting to the Western Conference finals.

Mobley averages 13.7 points and is shooting 34 percent from three-point range.

But the Knicks didn't do this deal for either player's talents.

The contracts of both Thomas ($6.5 million in 2009-10) and Mobley ($9.8 million) expire after the 2009-10 season, which will allow New York to free up even more cap room in an attempt to sign James, Miami's Dwyane Wade or Toronto's Chris Bosh -- or, perhaps, a combination of one of them with another frontline player.

After dealing guard Jamal Crawford to Golden State earlier Friday for disgruntled forward Al Harrington, the Knicks have eliminated $27 million from their books for the 2010-11 season -- Randolph's $17.3 million and Crawford's $10 million. They currently have no player under contract for that season, though center Eddy Curry is likely to exercise player options for both 2009-10 ($10.5 million) and 2010-11 ($11 million). They will also surely pick up team options on this year's first-round pick, forward Danilo Gallinari, and second-year forward Wilson Chandler, who has shown great promise in D'Antoni's system. Forward Jared Jeffries, recovering from an injury, could also have an option picked up that year.

But with Stephon Marbury's contract expiring after this season ($21.9 million), and the Knicks not likely to have veterans Quentin Richardson, Malik Rose and Jerome James on their roster in two years, New York should have $20 million to $30 million available to offer prospective free agents.

The question remains, though, if James or any other free agent would consider a team led by Gallinari, Chandler and guards Nate Robinson and Chris Duhon good enough to leave where they are -- even if it is in the media capital of the world.

Wade said earlier this week that his main consideration for 2010 is being on a winning team.

"In 2010, I'll have eight years in the league," Wade said. "I've already won a championship. I've already done a lot of great things in this game. At the end of the day, it all comes down to winning for me. It's no secret. I want to be in a place where we're building a championship team or competing (for) a championship. Hopefully, Miami's that place. That's where I live. That's where I want to be. But it's two years away, and I have a decision to make in two years."

The trade sends Randolph, New York's leading scorer (20.5 ppg) and rebounder (12.5 ppg), west to the Clippers, who have been trying to acquire him from New York for several months and who have had a terrible time scoring points during a surprisingly poor 2-9 start. It creates a bit of a logjam in the frontcourt, with Marcus Camby already starting at power forward and Chris Kaman the incumbent center. But Clippers coach Mike Dunleavy is believed to be hoping to convince Randolph he can get productive minutes and shots in a sixth man role.

Collins has averaged 2.2 points in nine games this season for New York.

The question remains, though, if James or any other free agent would consider a team led by Gallinari, Chandler and guards Nate Robinson and Chris Duhon good enough to leave where they are -- even if it is in the media capital of the world.
