[LoL] League Championship Series - EU

Publicações recomendadas

With Intel Extreme Masters and the Season 4 relegation approaching our League of Legends team will have a lot to play for in the next few weeks. With Søren “Bjergsen” Bjerg leaving the team towards TSM in North America the mid-lane spot was widely open. But also Martin “Deficio” Lynge won’t play for NiP next Season as he decided to step down from active playing. As opposed to Bjergsen, he won’t leave the team. Deficio will take over the manager and coach spot in the team and therefore stay with an important role in NiP.

In order to have a competitive team for the next season we acquired the Lemondogs trio Morten “Zorozero” Lyng Rosenquist, Alfonso “Mithy” Aguirre Rodriguez and Erlend “Nukeduck” Holm which we believe build a strong team together with Aleš “Freeze” Kněžínek and John “Hyrqbot” Velly. Unfortunately this also meant that we had to release Kevin “kev1n” Rubiszewski from the team.

NiP.LoL Lineup:

dk Morten “Zorozero” Lyng Rosenquist – Top Lane

fr John “Hyrqbot” Velly – Jungle

no Erlend “Nukeduck” Holm – Mid Lane

cz Aleš “Freeze” Kněžínek – AD Carry

sp Alfonso “Mithy” Aguirre Rodriguez – Support

dk Martin “Deficio” Lynge - Manager/Coach

dk Rammus “MrRallez” Skinneholm – Sub

dk Tobias “Malunoo” Magnusson – Sub

Statement of Gustav M. “flabbert” Karto, Branding and Strategy Manager of NiP-Gaming:

“When TSM approached us with an offer for Bjergsen we were first very hesitant to let him go, as Bjergsen was an integral part of our lineup, and we had started preparations for Season 4. However Bjergsen uttered a strong desire to leave for a new challenge in the United States, so after lengthy negotiations with TSM we came to an agreement that was beneficial for everyone.

When it started to become clear that Bjergsen would be leaving for TSM, suitable candidates was being discussed and sought out. We soon came to the conclusion that in order to stay competetive, a new core of players had to be established. Therefore we went to the steps of securing the services of NukeDuck, ZoroZero and Mithy. 3 very strong players from LemonDogs, a team that managed to qualify for season 3 world finals. As a result of this we were forced to release Kev1n, and even though we paid a transfer fee for his services, we have released him on a free transfer, in order to ensure that he has the best possible chances of getting a new team for Season 4.

Deficio has for a long time shown great interest in the coaching and managment side of things, and both him and us in the managment saw this as the ideal opportunity for him to follow his desire of getting into the managment side of eSports.

With all these changes we now think that we have the highest possible chance of a successfull run in the Season 4 of the LCS, and we wish the best of luck for the future for our departing members.”

Statement of Martin “Deficio” Lynge: “Hello everyone.

Today is a bit of a crazy day for me. I have decided to move to the management position in NiP. While I love playing, I have an even bigger passion for management and coaching. I have loved every single moment of my playing career but I got an offer from NiP that I simply couldn’t turn down. The chance of working more with NiP itself, its partners and managing the team at the same time felt perfect for me. It’s always been one of my goals to get experience through e-sport and be more than “just” a player in the scene. With this role I have a unique chance to work on my network and become better at more roles/areas within e-sport.

You will see me every week as I will travel with the team to LCS and events. I will both be a coach and a manager for the team. I will keep using social media to inform people of everything going on with the team and NiP, while also working on a new side project coming soon.

Thanks to all my fans! You guys have made this a fantastic experience!”

Pre-Season 4 roster changes have already affected a lot of teams across all regions and our team is not an exception. Today we are announcing that we are not going to extend our contract with Erih "Voidle" Sommermann. Erih is stepping down from our starting lineup and won't stay in Gambit Gaming as a substitute player.

No matter what tournament we play at, our goal is to win it. The level of competition both at the global and the regional levels is growing by the minute and in order to keep up with the competition our lineup has to be both skilled and experienced. There is no denying that Erih is a talented player and he is not lacking in the skill department, but the lack of the international experience and competing at the highest level had a huge impact on his performance at S3WC and Gamescom. Unfortunately, we as a team that aims to become the best cannot have flaws and therefore we had to release Erih. We would like to thank him for assisting us in qualifying to Season Three World Championship and reaching a solid top eight placement.

Statement of Erih "Voidle" Sommermann:

"While I'm a bit sad that I won't be playing with Gambit Gaming in the next season, I am still very thankful for the opportunity they gave me and the time we spent together. Thanks to them and the help of Riot I was able to fulfil a dream I had had since the start of the year. I wish them luck in the S4 LCS and hope to meet them again on the fields of justice maybe under a different team."

Esperado.

I would like to say a couple of words on top of the interview.

I know that I disappointed a lot of fans and my teammates by leaving Gambit Gaming. You cannot change the past. I don't regret making this decision, maybe, it was for the best.

I would like to thank all my fans supporting me in the time of my hurdle.

EDWARD: 'THE PROBLEMS THAT USED TO EXIST IN GAMBIT...ARE NOW GONE'

Before the Season 3 summer split, Gambit support player Edward Abgaryan made an unprecedented announcement: He’d be jumping over the ocean, making the swap from EU’s Gambit Gaming to NA’s Team Curse. On Thursday, however, he announced that he’d be moving back to Gambit. We sat down with the support player to chat about his experience out West, what he learned in the NA scene, and how he’s liking taking on the bot lane with Genja again.

Q: Why the decision to leave the North American scene?

Edward: When I joined Curse, I knew that I wouldn’t stay there for long and would soon return to Europe. I don't want people to think that didn't like to play there. It was quite likely that I'd want to come back to Europe after joining an American team, and it did happen.

Q: What was your experience playing in NA like?

Edward: I've spent more than three months on an American team. I have good memories of this period, since I was a part of a friendly team. Unfortunately, we didn't achieve the results we wanted, but it's not the end of the world. I've improved my communication in English, and it's something that I will benefit from in the future. I would like to thank everyone who helped me in improving it. I've managed to get a couple of good acquaintances - hi, Cop!

Q: Did your time in NA influence your style of play? Did you learn anything new?

Edward: My style of play has improved, but my mechanics have deteriorated a bit, and I am currently trying improve them. I wouldn't say that I managed to learn something completely new, or maybe I have just forgotten about it, because it became embedded in my play.

Q: Is there anything you're looking to bring back to EU from NA?

Edward: I am satisfied with the way things are done in Europe, though I would enjoy having Phreak, Jatt and Rivington in Cologne more frequently.

Q: How was being on Curse? Do you remain friendly with the team?

Edward: I chat with Jacky on a regular basis and would like to spend more time communicating with Cop, but I always forget to get in touch with him, since the difference in time zones makes it difficult for us to talk to each other. I believe I am on good terms with all of them, with Voyboy, IWillDominate and obviously Liquid112! Hi, SAINT!

Q: Why return to Gambit, rather than another EU team?

Edward: It's hard to explain why I decided to returned to Gambit. It's easier to explain [the reasons] why I didn't join any other team.

  •
  • You can never know what other people are like and whether you will enjoy playing with them.

  •
  • I would have to speak English. It is easier for me to use Russian for communication both outside and during the game. I don't have to think what to say, since English is my third language.

  •
  • I would have to join a completely new organization and would have to get to know a bunch of new people.

  •
  • Even if you assemble five individually strong players, it doesn't mean that they will form a strong team together. Trying to build something from scratch is a big waste of time.

Gambit is the team I know the best in terms of chemistry and I know what they are capable of as players. I can speak with them in Russian and I know Gambit from the organizational point of view.

Q: Are you and Genja getting along again? Have you patched the problems you had up?

Edward: I believe that every bot lane has an array of major and minor problems. I didn't leave the team based on the fact that I didn't enjoy playing with Genja, since I'd played with him for two years in a row. The thing is, the problems that used to exist in Gambit and in my co-operation with Genja are now gone. It's is time for us to carry and to become the best team in Europe.

Q: Has the atmosphere on Gambit changed to something you prefer since last year?

Edward: As of now, we have scrimmed for a couple of days, so the chemistry seems to be positive. As of now everything is perfect, but we have to wait and see how it is going to look like when the upcoming split begins.

Q: What are you looking forward to in Season 4?

Edward: Season 4 is going to be both very challenging and thrilling. I cannot wait to compete at [the Season 4 World Championship], but in order to get there we have to perform consistently good over the entire year and become the best team in Europe. All I want to achieve in the upcoming season is for us to become the stronger than we used to be.
