Uma noticia interessante:

Crewe chairman John Bowler says the club will continue to produce top stars when the Elite Player Performance Plan (EPPP) is brought in next season.

 

The EPPP has come about after consultation between the Premier League and its clubs, representatives of the Football League, the Football Association and other key football stakeholders.

 

It has six fundamental principles and is being brought in to improve youth development in English clubs.

 

Academies will be independently audited and given a Category status of 1-4, with 1 being the most elite.

 

Crewe have established a reputation for producing a number of international players like Neil Lennon, Dean Ashton, Danny Murphy and Robbie Savage, while Nick Powell recently made the move to Manchester United.

 

The club have submitted their application for Category 2 status.

 

Chairman Bowler says the new set up will allow them to nurture young talent and be suitably rewarded when they inevitably catch the eyes of the country's bigger clubs.

 

"I don’t think there will be another Category 2 club of our size"

"I think we’ve always got to be sensible that if there is an exceptional, outstanding player he’s going to attract interest early on," he said.

 

“I’m pretty sure the new academy arrangements aren’t going to turn that on its head.

 

“After all, it’s still up to us to persuade these young players that this is the right place to be, because this is where you can develop your career – that’s what we’re all about.

 

“We’ve now submitted our application and all the data to the Football League, which is currently examining the documentation and we hope they agree with us that we should become a Category 2.

 

“In that category there’s going to be some big, big names. I don’t think there will be another Category 2 club of our size.

 

“That’s the kind of standing we feel we deserve and we have a right to be in that group. We want to be associated with those types of clubs.

 

“If for no other reason, it’s important to us for our games programme. We want to be playing against other quality academy sides.”
