Gosto do Odemwingie. Não me parece que seja suposto ser mais que uma opção de banco. O Ruiz acho que era um reforço excelente, ainda para mais com a inclusão do Babel a baixar-lhe o preço. cadete Publicado 18 Agosto 2010 Could James Milner’s Manchester City move wreck his career? Football bettingAs James Milner undergoes a medical at Manchester City, questions have to be raised about whether the move is the best career choice he could have made. Clearly he stands to gain from the deal in financial terms, as do Aston Villa – who could blame them for accepting a chance to double their money on a player they signed just two years ago? It would also be unfair to suggest the former Newcastle man has moved just for the cash. City have spent a huge amount on players again this summer and they are clearly better positioned to challenge for silverware than Villa are, so it’s a step up for him. However, in making the move Milner has relegated himself from a player who was guaranteed first team football to someone who will have to battle for a starting place. In some ways he should be praised for deciding against being a big fish in a small pond and he will no doubt be relishing the challenge of competing with some of the world’s best players for the right to pull on a City shirt every week. Sadly for Milner, who is clearly a very competitive individual, this dream could backfire incredibly quickly. Just take a look at Wayne Bridge. He made the move from Chelsea in the hope of securing first-team football, but it now looks like he has been frozen out – and his performance for the Manchester side were far from bad. Not that you have to be a flop to see your City career nose dive. Craig Bellamy was one of the best players in the Premier League last season, this term he’ll be plying his trade in the Championship. Shay Given, another excellent performer, may also have to move on if he wants to play. Milner clearly believes he’s good enough to justify a regular starting spot in the City side, he wouldn’t have made the move otherwise. Unfortunately even if he is right that may not be enough. A change of manager or another spending spree could see him pushed to one side and he could rapidly go from first-team regular to not even being considered for the squad. He would then be left with the choice of sitting around picking up his wages, heading out on loan to a lesser side – there’s no chance City would let him play for a rival after spending all that cash on him – or perhaps moving abroad. At 24 he’s just a couple of years off his peak and he needs to be playing football almost every week to ensure he’s able to give his best for both his club and England. The danger is that in aiming for the top Milner has set himself on the path to career stagnation. Compartilhar este post Link para o post

São esperados mais detalhes sobre a lesão nos próximos dias. ________________________________________________________________________________________________ Man.
cadete Publicado 18 Agosto 2010 Fans given chance to impact Arsenal Arsenal fans have been given a chance to directly invest in the club's future through a new share scheme launched on Wednesday. The Arsenal Fanshare, which has been set up by the Arsenal Supporters' Trust (AST), allows fans to buy up one hundredth fractions of the actual shares which usually trade at more than £10,000 each. This will enable them to build a stake in the North London club from as little as £100 or monthly contributions of £10. In return, they will get full shareholder rights - including the chance to attend the Gunners' AGM, question the directors and vote on policy. The AST will obtain and sell shares in the club for supporters. Shareholders can then sell their stake or freeze their monthly payments at any time. At present, the £640 million club, which has 62,000 shares, is owned by just four shareholders. US property and sports entrepreneur Stan Kroenke has a 30% stake with Uzbek-Russian mining and minerals billionaire Alisher Usmanov owning just over a quarter. Danny Fiszman, who is now a tax exile in Switzerland, holds 16% with Lady Nina Bracewell-Smith controlling the remaining stake. All four have given their support to the Fanshare scheme. However, with a maximum monthly payment of £1,000 for smaller investors, shareholders will not be able to buy up a significant stake. Instead, the club hopes the move will help to ward off takeover talk and put forward a different mode of ownership to the debt-laden models currently operated by Manchester United and Liverpool. More details on the scheme can be found at arsenalfanshare.com. Arsenal players only injured on days that end in Y When I read the news this morning that Samir Nasri had a knee operation and would be out for a month, I literally facepalmed and let out a huge groan. You know, I’m starting to think that the team is cursed and some of these players are more cursed than others. Nasri, for example, was a bit of a risk when Arsene bought him owing to a history of “meningitis-like” flu and other injuries that had plagued his career. In his first season at Arsenal, he seemed to have put that behind him as he played in 55 matches for club and country. But then last year, Diaby broke his leg during pre-season training and Nasri was out until November. And now this year a routine Mascherano* tackle seems to have sent him to the doctor for knee surgery. Even more aggravating is that we have only played one match and are already have 6 players officially “injured.” Which makes me wonder if the treatment room isn’t just a little too nice. Like, maybe they have some gorgeous Swedish supermodel who gives the players full body rub downs after they have been soaking in the hot tub, drinking mimosas. And we all know what happens before the hot tub. I’m joking around a bit, but I’m really starting to think something is wrong with our team doctors. I’m talking wrong enough that someone might need to lose their job over it. Colin Lewin looked at Nasri, gave him some treatment and let him go back on the pitch to play 90 minutes — which almost certainly aggravated any injury Mascherano dealt. But maybe it’s not the doctor’s fault, nor Mascherano’s fault really. The fact is that the Liverpool enforcer’s tackle was hardly blood curdling. It’s the kind of tackle that every player gives and gets week in and week out and Nasri’s knee buckled. You could fire everyone in the team doctor’s office, right down to the tea lady, and you can’t fix the fact that Nasri is out for a month from a routine tackle. I don’t know, the team investigated the overwhelming number of injuries we had last year and came up blank. Maybe they need to investigate the investigation and see why they didn’t turn up an answer. Something needs to be done, hire a witch doctor for all I care but this injury curse needs to stop. *Watch the highlights of the Liverpool match, Mascherano goes through him just short of the 13 minute mark and Nasri signals for treatment about a minute later. Arsenal put back the clock at Emirates Stadium Arsenal will be putting back the clock in more ways than one when Blackpool visit the Emirates Stadium for their first league match against the Gunners for nearly 40 years on Saturday. For as well as renewing acquaintances with the promoted Tangerines, Arsenal will unveil a larger new version of their famous clock, a distinctive feature of the team's old Highbury ground for more than 70 years. The clock will be positioned at roof level on the south side of the Emirates in which all the stands are being officially given the old names from Highbury on Saturday. It will be installed at the new Clock End with the opposite stand renamed the North Bank. The stands on either side of the pitch will now be known as the East and West Stands. Former Arsenal striker Alan Smith, who made over 450 appearances for Arsenal between 1987 and 1995, told Reuters he was delighted the clock was being installed. "I'm really pleased," he said, "I was quite surprised and upset when they first moved to the Emirates that they didn't do it then, but it makes sense to have it there. "I like the fact they are renaming the stands too and bringing back some of the history from Highbury. It will add some character to the stadium." ORIGINAL SUGGESTION Arsenal's great manager of the 1930s, Herbert Chapman, brought the clock to Highbury. However, his suggestion it should have a 45-minute face to show how long had been played in each half was not accepted by the FA who thought it might undermine the officials. The clock was then redesigned with a conventional face and stood at Highbury from 1935 until Arsenal left in 2006. The original East and West Stands, listed as buildings of architectural merit, have since been converted into apartments. Blackpool, who last played a league match at Arsenal in March 1971, when they lost 1-0, made a successful return to the top flight after almost four decades away when they scored a shock 4-0 win at Wigan Athletic last week.
