Parece que o Jornal de Ténis oferece um bilhete para o Estoril Open (2ª feira) a quem descobrir quem é o tenista presente neste videoclip que vai estar cá a jogar. Ainda só vi uma vez e não topei nenhum... A não ser que o Monfils receba um WC :trollface:

Após derrotar o brasileiro Ricardo Mello por um duplo 6/4 na primeira rodada do Masters 1000 de Miami, o argentino Juan Martin Del Potro, ex-top 4 e atual 51º do mundo, confirmou estar muito cansado e já planeja um descanso no início da temporada de saibro.

 

O tenista também sentiu dores na perna no encontro com o brasileiro: "Estou com cansaço acumulado e espero que possa enfrentar (Philipp) Kohlschreiber. As dores podem não ser nada se eu tiver um bom descanso", disse o tenista que vem de cinco semanas seguidas com semis em Memphis, San Jose, Indian Wells e o título de Delray Beach, tudo nos Estados Unidos.

 

"Depois daqui vou parar três ou quatro semanas, vou ao médico e só volto no Masters de Madri", completou o tenista em entrevista dada aos jornalistas argentinos na Flórida.

Report: Wozniacki asked to pose for Playboy

 

 

Caroline Wozniacki received an offer to pose for Playboy but turned it down, Ekstra Bladet reports.

 

"I'm not going to take off all my clothes," Wozniacki said.

 

Her agent, John Tobias, added that the Dane has received a number of offers to pose for men’s magazines, including from FHM and Maxim. “She is still only 20 years," he told the newspaper. "That kind of photo series we’ll keep away from right now. They fit not the right fit with the image she has built."

 

Wozniacki also says she’s learned to know her real friends from hangers on. "I think that I'm really good at that," she said. "I do not know if it is written on the foreheads of me, but I think that the kind of superficial people can quickly sense to me that they should stay away."

Former World No. 5 Fernando Gonzalez has been given medical clearance to return to the courts, announcing on his Twitter account (@elfergonzalez) Monday: "Today I finish my 6 months post-op rehab. I was discharged and ready to go back to game."

 

The Chilean, currently No. 395 in the South African Airways 2011 ATP Rankings, underwent surgery on his right hip on 4 October after being limited to just two matches following Roland Garros. He will make his first tournament appearance since a first-round retirement at the US Open as a wild card entry later this month at the Serbia Open 2011.

 

Gonzalez, a winner of 11 ATP World Tour titles, has been training in recent weeks with the Chilean Davis Cup team in Santiago and with new coach Horacio Matta in the United States.

Should tennis balls be made bigger?

 

Romanian tennis promoter Ion Tiriac believes changes including bigger, slower balls and blue courts would make the sport more attractive to the television audiences that are crucial for generating revenue.

 

The self-made billionaire, who owns the Madrid Open tournament which begins at the end of this month, said in an interview that introducing Hawk-Eye technology to clay events to help with line calls would also be a positive step.

"I would make the ball at least 10 to 15 per cent bigger... to make the game a little bit slower," the extravagantly whiskered Tiriac said after the presentation of the new tournament trophy, which bears his name.

"I would also improve the colour of the court because as you know we are now the slaves of television," he added.

"I have 14,000 people in the stands (in Madrid) but I have more than 500 million if you consider China watching on the television."

The 71-year-old, a French Open doubles winner alongside Ilie Nastase in 1970 who also played ice hockey for his country, said it was "completely ridiculous" not to use Hawk-Eye on clay.

The technology is used for other surfaces but on clay umpires are regularly called on to leap from their chairs and check marks in the dust before making their calls.

"Hawk-Eye is a great achievement," added Tiriac, who cuts a striking figure with his oversized, tinted glasses and designer blue suit.

Spanish world number one Rafa Nadal won last year's men's title in Madrid, when he also became the first player to win all three clay Masters Series events in one year.

Frenchwoman Aravane Rezai took the women's crown when she upset Venus Williams in the Madrid final.
