Violento sismo no Japão causou inúmeras vítimas e um tsunami

Após novo tremor, Japão entra em alerta de tsunami. Ondas de 3 metros devem chegar à costa do país nos próximos minutos.

Uma nova explosão atingiu o complexo nuclear de Fukushima na manhã desta segunda-feira (14) no Japão, (por volta das 02h20 horário de Brasília), gerando uma fumaça cinza pelo ar, de acordo com a rede de notícias CNN.

Agora falam muito dos edifícios do Japão e tal que são todos muito bem protegidos, o caraças é que são. Nas grandes cidades se calhar muitos são, mas e nas zonas rurais ou nas cidades mais pequenas? Foi tudo cos porcos... Isso é tudo muito bonito, mas quem não vive nos grandes centros não beneficia dessas protecções.

 

Não digas asneiras. As grandes metrópoles não estão em arruínas porque não foram afectadas pelo Tsunami, tão simples quanto isso.

E mesmo assim, se formos a ver as imagens do Tsunami a entrar por terra a dentro, verificamos que as casas estavam em pé antes de serem levadas pela água. Ou seja, mesmo em zonas rurais onde o sismo bateu forte, a grande maioria das casas aguentou. Isso tb foi referido numa entrevista da BBC a um inglês que mora perto de Fukushima que disse que as casas ficaram quase todas em pé.

 

Em relação à questão nuclear, aconteceu o que se esperava: O sistema de arrefecimento do segundo reactor explodiu tal como aconteceu no primeiro reactor. E o sistema de arrefecimento de um terceiro tb falhou.

Pelo que ouvi um professor universitário a falar na CNN, o caso continua bem distante do que aconteceu em Chernobyl.

 

Entretanto, foi detectada uma baixa quantidade de radiação em 17 soldados americanos que estavam a ajudar ao resgate de pessoas na zona mas depois de mudarem de roupa e terem tomado um banho, a radiação deixou de ser detectada:

 

"Tests detected low levels of radioactivity on 17 U.S. Navy helicopter crew members when they returned to the USS Ronald Reagan after conducting disaster relief missions in Japan, the military said Monday.

 

No further contamination was detected after the crew members washed with soap and water, the Navy said.

 

In addition, the Navy said the U.S. 7th Fleet has temporarily repositioned its ships and planes away from the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant after detecting low-level contamination in the air and on its planes in the area, the Navy said.

 

One ship was operating about 100 miles northeast of the power plant when "airborne radioactivity" was detected, the Navy said.

 

The Navy's statement, however, provided some perspective, noting that the maximum potential radiation dose received by personnel when the ship passed through the area was "less than the radiation exposure received from about one month of exposure to natural background radiation from sources such as rocks, soil, and the sun."

 

On Sunday, the USS Ronald Reagan started delivering aid in the coastal regions of Japan's Miyagi prefecture.

 

Crew members, in conjunction with the Japan Maritime Self Defense Forces, conducted 20 sorties delivering aid pallets.

 

Eight U.S. and Japanese helicopters were used to distribute the pallets, according to Sgt. Maj. Stephen Valley of U.S. Forces Japan.

 

Workers are scrambling to cool down fuel rods and prevent a full meltdown in three reactors at the earthquake-hit plant. Radioactive steam has been released, intentionally to lessen growing pressure in the reactors."

The sound of a baby’s cry amid the rubble seemed so impossible that soldiers searching a tsunami-smashed village dismissed it as a mistake.

But it came again. And they realised they had not been hearing things.

They pulled away wood and slate, dug back thick oozing mud – and there was the child they were to describe as a ‘tiny miracle’.

 

The four-month-old girl had been swept from her parents’ arms in the shattered village of Ishinomaki when the deadly wave crashed into the family home.

For three days, the child’s frantic family had believed she was lost to them for ever.

But yesterday, for a brief moment, the horrors of the disaster were brightened by one helpless baby’s story of survival.

Soldiers from the Japanese Defence Force had been going from door to door pulling bodies from the devastated homes in Ishinomaki, a coastal town northeast of Sendai.

Most of the victims were elderly, unable to escape the destructive black tide.

But for this precious moment, at least, it was only the child who mattered to the team of civil defence troops who found her.

Aparentemente foram libertadas grandes quantidades de radiação para a atmosfera.
