Liverpool confirm Danny Ings requires knee surgery

 

Liverpool Football Club can confirm Danny Ings requires surgery on an impact injury sustained to his right knee during the EFL Cup fourth-round tie with Tottenham Hotspur last week.

 

The problem was picked up when attempting to make a challenge in the closing stages of the game at Anfield - and Jürgen Klopp has explained to supporters it’s likely to mean the Reds are without the striker’s services for a period of between seven and nine months following the operation.

 

The procedure, which will be performed today in London, will correct the damage sustained from the challenge to the cartilage in his right knee. It is not in the same knee in which the 24-year-old suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury in October 2015.

 

Klopp said: "To say we are gutted would be an understatement; he is such a great boy and has worked so hard that he deserves better luck than this.

 

"It is typical of Danny's personality, on and off the pitch, that he picked up this injury to his knee when courageously trying to win the ball back for his team by making a tackle.

 

"But it is this same personality that means he will come back as good and as strong from this latest setback as he has done in the past.

 

"I'm told the likely lay off is anywhere from between seven to nine months. He is mentally strong, physically strong and will have the very best treatment and rehab possible to make sure when he returns he is ready to play for us at the level we know he is capable of."

Mourinho terá afastado Smalling e Shaw por falta de espírito de sacrifício

O jornal britânico Guardian aponta que José Mourinho está desagradado com os defesas Chris Smalling e Luke Shaw, depois de estes terem recusado jogar «infiltrados» para mascarar problemas físicos.

Chris Smalling não é opção para o treinador português no Manchester United desde 23 de outubro, quando a equipa de Mourinho foi derrotada pelo Chelsea por 0-4. Luke Shaw, por sua vez, ficou de fora do jogo do passado domingo, frente ao Swansea, que os red devils venceram por 3-1.

Mourinho, segundo o Guardian, terá afastado os dois jogadores por eles próprios se terem recusado jogar, alegando problemas físicos, afastando a possibilidade de serem «infiltrados». O mesmo já terá acontecido com Anthony Martial e Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

Perante isto são recordadas as palavras do treinador português após o jogo com o Swansea, referindo que os jogadores devem dar tudo pela equipa, apelando ao espírito de sacrifício. «Há uma diferença entre os corajosos, aqueles que querem jogar custe o que custar, e aqueles para quem uma pequena dor pode fazer a diferença», disse.

Com o Shaw acho que está a ser injusto, visto que a dor que sentiu foi, pelos vistos, naquela perna que o gajo f*deu toda o ano passado. Mas anw, falar sem conhecer rigorosamente nada da avaliação clínica deles é muito fácil, podemos é estar a atirar completamente ao lado.

Jogador do Manchester City não fala com a mãe, mas esta não se coíbe de criticar o filho na Imprensa

 

Apesar de ganhar perto de mais de 100 mil euros semanais no Manchester City, a mãe de Nolito acusa o filho de a ter deixado na pobreza.

 

De acordo com o Mirror, Rocío Agudo Durán, de 46 anos, afirma que o jogador do City a obrigou a "mendigar", sendo que já não fala com o filho desde julho de 2015, altura em que tiveram uma discussão no WhatsApp.

 

O mesmo jornal afirma que Nolito terá dito à mãe para ir "pedir para porta do supermercado", acusando a mesma de apenas se lembrar do filho quando "precisa de alguma coisa". Noutra mensagem, Rocío mostra-se revoltada pelo facto de o filho ter contratado uma empregada de limpeza para limpar a sua casa em vez de dar o trabalho à mãe.

 

"Tenho a certeza que nenhuma outra mãe de um jogador da Premier League vive como eu. Mudei-me para uma casa velha em outubro porque Nolito deixou de me pagar o aluguer da minha outra casa. Posso ficar a viver na rua com dois filhos", contou.
