Já o tenho! Confirma-se que andei com aquilo na posição errada mas até estão engraçadas, apesar da falta de definição. Já ponho aqui uns exemplos.

 

As três primeiras foram com um Fujicolor C200 e a última foi com um Superia 100. Também recebi ontem os resultados de mais um Farbwelt 400 e acho que vou passar a comprar sempre destes.

Tenho umas mais engraçadas mas como aparecem amigos meus não as vou meter directamente aqui. Eventualmente aparecerão no Flickr, quem acompanha aquilo vai vê-las, de certeza.

Por acaso fizeste-me agr ir ao Flickr para ver se a Rita tinha metido alguma coisa nova, e pelo caminho reparei que esta fotografia foi escolhida para aparecer no "Explore" de hoje. Parece que todos os dias escolhem 500 fotografias no Flickr e são essas que aparecem ná página do explore no flickr ou algo do género.

 

E tenho na caixa de entrada um pedido para fazer um entrevista para um site de fotografia Checo :lol: O site é uma m*rda, mas o gajo foi bastante simpático lol. E sempre é porreiro pedirem autorização para meter coisas no site.

- What inspired you to become a photographer?

 

Well, for starters I don't really consider myself a photographer, seeing how it´s not my main occupation. I'd say I'm more of an enthusiast.

That being said, I guess that the interest in Photography is a natural follow-up to my interest for the arts in general. Browsing the web I used to be fascinated by all sorts of things and often would I find myself completely amazed by some pictures portraying beautiful landscapes, but the pictures that truly spoke to me would be the ones you would expect to see at a World Press Photo exhibition. Don´t get me wrong, landscape photography can be wonderful, but a picture of a mountain is just that, a picture of a mountain. The true masterpiece speaks to you, it tells you a story. Some may try to speak to a group of friends, others to a broader audience... Sometimes to the photographer alone. That is quite a powerful thing, that's the beauty of art itself. I just chose to express myself thru the camera.

 

 

- Your work reminds me a lot of W.Eggleston's is that a coincidence or do you find his work inspirational?

 

Those are very kind words. I must confess that it is a complete coincidence, even if a nice one. I do however admire William Eggleston's work for understansdable reasons: his ability to find beauty in simplest things of life. I guess that in the right conditions, the most mundane scenery can be transformed into an appealing picture, it just takes practice. Eggleston would be a good example for one to aspire.

 

 

- What do you regularly do to make yourself a better photographer and not to become burned-out?

 

Traveling would be a good answer. I don´t mean catching a plane across the globe whenever you´re depressed, instead just hop on the train to the other side of the city, or just walk a couple of miles with the camera in your hand. The point is to visit places that you normally wouldn't in your day to day life. I find it hard to feel inspired at home for example, that´s why I rarely take pictures when at home. I do however, for example, absolutely love the work of Annette Pehrsson, and a good part of her pictures are taken at her apartment, so maybe I should start looking around my own place.

 

 

- What inspired you to start making film photographs and why did you choose film?

 

Can't really recall one defining moment when choosing film, but before buying my AE-1 on eBay, I was messing around with a Sony compact camera, and felt increasingly limited by the lack of control over the pictures I took. I still find it a great camera though, and its great to carry around.

Going analog first crossed my mind due to flickr. A great amount of the photographers I was following were working with film, and the results were just too appealing, the pictures, for some reason, felt more human than the hundreds of digital pictures I saw on the web, most of them covered with dozens of layers of Photoshop, making them seem cheap.

After buying my own camera I ended up falling in love with the whole process. Knowing that I only had 36 pictures with me, instead of a few Gigabytes, made the pictures more special, you have to choose more wisely and make every shot count. Having to wait for the revelation in order to see your results is also quite special. There are always a few suprises. Fortunately, most of them have been good so far.

 

- It seems to me that every photo in your photostream has been made in a beautiful light and is telling a story as well, are these two elements of photography an important part of your art?

 

Light is obviously an essential part of photography, and seeing how I don´t carry a flash with me, natural light makes the shot. The truth however is that light itself is not the key factor though, the beauty of light comes from the shadows and contrasts it creates. The arrangement of these are crucial for me. As for the second part, as explained in the first question, that is the true meaning of art. Most of my pictures depict special moments and episodes of my life, I can relate to every single one of them, and so can the people who were with me at the time. The fact that more people can too... Is quite amazing.

 

 

- What does a good photograph in your eyes look like?

 

That really is the million dollar question isn't it? As vague as this might sound, the key for me is beauty. Beauty is perceived in different ways however. Sometimes a beautiful shot is merely the depiction of a pretty scenery, others it is a mere capture of a special moment in life, one that you would like to remember, maybe its both... and then something else.

 

 

- The people in your photographs look very comfortable and "living in a moment" of the atmosphere of your shoot, how do you accomplish that?

 

I try to plan as little as possible. Most of the people in those picture were immersed by something entirely different, most of the times not being aware that I was taking a picture of them. That's the benefit of being surrounded by friends, everything seems more natural. I never did a "photo session" per say, I just take the camera along with me on my trips and photograph what seems captivating for me. In extreme cases I'll just ask a friend to stay still for a second or two, but that's as far as I go. The rest is all unpredicted and just comes naturally.

 

- What piece of advice would you give to an aspiring photographer who just got inspired by looking at your work and reading this interview?

 

Get off the internet and go and take some pictures. Henri Cartier-Bresson used to say that your first 10,000 pictures will always be your worst, and it's probably true (even though I'm far from 10000 pictures). Practice does make perfect.
