Alguém conhece bons podcasts sobre cinema?

Podem fechar o ano, o La La Land já ganhou.

Que coisa mais linda.

Eu gostei, mas não acho que seja filme para ganhar o Oscar.

A meu ver, nas principais categorias, não deve ganhar nada. Só deve ganhar nas categorias técnicas e na parte musical.

Ainda relativamente ao Arrival, pareceu-me que aquilo é suposto ter continuação certo?

 

Eu por acaso não estou muito entusiasmado para ver o La La Land, acho que simplesmente não é o tipo de filme que eu gostaria. Mas pelas críticas vou sem dúvida ver em breve para tirar a teima.

Depois do Best of the Worst da RLM, tal como o facto de estar incluído na tal lista de 1000 filmes favoritos do Edgar Wright, já esperava que "Xtro" fosse melhor do que o imdb dá a entender, mas a reta final e tudo o que envolveu efeitos práticos eleva o filme a um nível que eu não antecipava.

O problema com o Arrival foi o pessoal esperar um filme de invasão tradicional. Ao intervalo do filme estavam uns sujeitos à minha frente a dizer que "nunca mais começava a acção". No final estavam todos desiludidos e um deles até disse que não tinha percebido nada do filme. É natural, nem deveria lá ter ido se as expectativas era ver um filme de acção, algo a que o Arrival nunca aspirou ser.

 

É um filme com uma premissa simples e uma lufada de ar fresco na imensidade de filmes que retratam contactos entre seres de mundos diferentes sem focarem devidamente algo tão elementar. Se até os seres humanos tiveram dificuldade no primeiro contacto com outros humanos com os quais nunca haviam contactado...

I regret to announce via this statement that I have decided to not attend the Academy Awards Ceremony alongside my fellow members of the cinematic community.

 

Over the course of the past few days and despite the unjust circumstances which have risen for the immigrants and travelers of several countries to the United States, my decision had remained the same: to attend this ceremony and to express my opinions about these circumstances in the press surrounding the event. I neither had the intention to not attend nor did I want to boycott the event as a show of objection, for I know that many in the American film industry and the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences are opposed to the fanaticism and extremism which are today taking place more than ever. Just as I had stated to my distributor in the United States on the day the nominees were announced, that I would be attending this ceremony along with my cinematographer, I continued to believe that I would be present at this great cultural event.

 

However, it now seems that the possibility of this presence is being accompanied by ifs and buts which are in no way acceptable to me even if exceptions were to be made for my trip. I would therefore like to convey via this statement what I would have expressed to the press were I to travel to the United States. Hard-liners, despite their nationalities, political arguments and wars, regard and understand the world in very much the same way. In order to understand the world, they have no choice but to regard it via an “us and them” mentality, which they use to create a fearful image of “them” and inflict fear in the people of their own countries.

 

This is not just limited to the United States; in my country hardliners are the same. For years on both sides of the ocean, groups of hardliners have tried to present to their people unrealistic and fearful images of various nations and cultures in order to turn their differences into disagreements, their disagreements into enmities and their enmities into fears. Instilling fear in the people is an important tool used to justify extremist and fanatic behavior by narrow-minded individuals.

 

However, I believe that the similarities among the human beings on this earth and its various lands, and among its cultures and its faiths, far outweigh their differences. I believe that the root cause of many of the hostilities among nations in the world today must be searched for in their reciprocal humiliation carried out in its past and no doubt the current humiliation of other nations are the seeds of tomorrow’s hostilities. To humiliate one nation with the pretext of guarding the security of another is not a new phenomenon in history and has always laid the groundwork for the creation of future divide and enmity. I hereby express my condemnation of the unjust conditions forced upon some of my compatriots and the citizens of the other six countries trying to legally enter the United States of America and hope that the current situation will not give rise to further divide between nations.

O La La Land é dos melhores filmes que já vi. Em termos musicais é fantástico, em termos de estória segue um conceito "simples" mas com subtilezas encantadoras e algumas mensagens claras sobre o mundo da arte do espectáculo. Tem um par de representações muito boas e a realização é das coisas mais lindas que já tive o prazer de assistir. Recebe um 9.5/10, só por algumas picuinhices minhas, e acho que é o claro favorito para a maioria dos Óscars.

A meu ver, nas principais categorias, não deve ganhar nada. Só deve ganhar nas categorias técnicas e na parte musical.

 

Ou muito me engano ou dos principais só não ganha o de melhor actor. Diria que na pior das hipóteses ganham 9 Óscares.

btw,

 

Ao Scorcese neste filme só acabo mesmo por apontar a oportunidade perdida de "desmascarar" o mito moderno dos samurais ao nunca ter usado o nome para descrever as personagens em causa que de facto o eram.

 

E passado um dia de ter visto o filme e de ter refletido sobre ele, ainda gostei mais do filme. O facto de ser ateu também em nada afeta a minha percepção do mesmo. Uma obra prima.

 

 

O filme está mesmo extraordinário, gostava de dar uma vista de olhos aos documentos tanto dos padres como do Mercador Holandês

 

Isto claro se existirem.

De quais falas, sheva?

 

 

O único que achei desapropriado foi na cena em que foram "roubar" o corpo da Leslie ao cemitério. Foi falacioso demais e estragou um bocado a parte final do filme que, certamente, tinha tudo para manter o nível decente. Ou reformulavam aquela cena da igreja em que o gajo estava a ler as vontades dela ou enfiavam a viola no saco e esqueciam o óbito. Acabaram por mexer na parte onde não deviam.

Eu cá acho mais credível que "Wonder Woman" e "Justice League" são novos fiascos, como os rumores têm indicado, e o Affleck já não está para ali virado.
