Todos ficam felizes e o Cena diz que o respeita, a vida continua e dois meses depois já ele é campeão. Compartilhar este post Link para o post

Mister Master Publicado 29 Fevereiro 2012 (editado) Decade of Honor #6 (Updated 2/9/12) - Frustration. It's one simple word that can be used to define the early careers of Jay & Mark Briscoe in Ring of Honor. For months in 2003 they fought it out with The Amazing Red & AJ Styles over the Tag Team Titles; three times in total, and three times they were denied. They were denied once more in the "Glory by Honor II" Gauntlet, to the shock of all, by the Special K team of Izzy & Dixie who would eventually go on to win the titles from The Backseat Boyz at "Tradition Continues". They were obviously a great team, but something seemed to be missing for the Briscoes, something that kept them from reaching that next plateau, and they found it at "Main Event Spectacles" on November 1, 2003. One month earlier Jay Briscoe earned the right to face Samoa Joe for the ROH World Title at "Tradition Continues" but his challenge was turned away. Jump ahead to "MES" and Joe introduces the legendary Jim Cornette as his manager in the midst of laying a beating on one Dan Maff. That assault is brought to a close, but another quickly begins when Jay & Mark hit the ring to attack Joe and Cornette, showing his true allegiance, jumped in on the action as well. The missing ingredient had been found because later that night in their rematch with Izzy & Dixie, after pursuing the belts for the better part of a year, Jay & Mark finally captured the ROH Tag Team Titles for the very 1st time! That initial championship reign lasted for 175 days until "Reborn: Stage Two" where CM Punk & Colt Cabana bested the Sandy Fork natives, but it would mark the first of 7 (so far) ROH World Tag Team Title reigns. They are holders of the 2nd longest title reign in ROH history at 275 days for their 4th reign & are tied for the record with Aries & Strong at 18 successful defenses during that reign. All told Jay & Mark have held the belts 7 times for about 640 days combined (at the time of this writing) and successfully defended them on 29 occasions combined with the most recent being on the latest edition of "Ring of Honor Wrestling" TV. They are, just as Samoa Joe was for the World Title, the foundation upon which the entire ROH Tag division has been built, and they continue to set the benchmark by which all other teams are judged. They are ROH Legends no doubt, who proudly declare themselves "Since Day One", and given their relative youth, one can only guess how many more championship reigns they have in their future…that is if anyone can end their current one. ---###--- Decade of Honor #7 (Updated 2/14/12) - December 26, 2004… It had been 645 days since Samoa Joe beat Xavier for the ROH Title at "Night of the Champions" on March 22, 2003. In that time Joe had elevated the ROH championship to World Title status, successfully turned away 29 challenges, and cemented the Ring of Honor World Title as the premier title in professional wrestling. The list of unsuccessful challengers read like a who's who: AJ Styles, Christopher Daniels, Homicide, Jay Briscoe, Low Ki, and Colt Cabana, just to name a few, and Joe was fresh off a brutal 3rdmatch with CM Punk, the last of their legendary trilogy, at "All Star Extravaganza II" that saw him retain the title once again. Enter Austin Aries & "Final Battle 2004"… It was a cold, snowy night at the Philadelphia National Guard Armory when Joe defended his championship against the then-leader of Generation Next. Aries, for his part, had been rapidly making his presence felt in ROH with a phenomenal contest in the finals of "Survival of the Fittest 2004", beating Bryan Danielson in a 2/3 Falls classic at "Testing the Limit", challenging for the Pure Title at "Glory by Honor III", beating CM Punk at "Weekend of Thunder N.1", as well as taking Low Ki to the time limit at "ASE II". It was that final contest, with Ki's refusal to go into overtime that put Aries in position to challenge for the belt against reigning champion. There was something in the air that night, a feeling that something major was going down, and as soon as the match started it began to build. Despite their size difference Aries fought with the heart of a lion; never relenting his offense, doing his best not to give Joe a chance to breath, and surprising everyone with his unwillingness to back down. Then it happened when Joe went for a Muscle Buster…Aries countered with a Crucifix Bomb, amazingly delivered a brainbuster, and followed it all up with a 450 splash! Three second later the 21 month championship reign of Samoa Joe had come to an end and the reign of Austin Aries, the 4th ever ROH World Champion, had begun! It was the end of one era as Joe strapped the title around the waist of an emotional Aries and the dawning of a new one… ---###--- Decade of Honor #8 (Updated 2/15/12) - It has since become known as "The Summer of Punk" and become part of the historical lore of ROH, but for three months in 2005 it was absolute chaos & controversy all centered around one man: CM Punk. For a large part of 2004, Punk unsuccessfully pursued the ROH World Title then held by Samoa Joe but finally, at "Death Before Dishonor III" in June of 2005, Punk beat Austin Aries, the man who beat Joe, and claimed the ROH World Title for the first time. The only problem was that that night was also supposed to be Punk's last night as an ROH competitor… What followed that title victory was several months of the ROH World Title being held hostage, threats of Punk walking away from the company with the title in his possession, and doing his best to avoid defending the belt. Punk's victory brought Christopher Daniels back into the ROH fold after 18 months away, it gave Roderick Strong & Jay Lethal their first chances to challenge for the title, and finally, at "Redemption" in August '05, it allowed James Gibson to mark his name in the ROH history books as the 6th ever ROH World Champion when he pinned Punk in Dayton. Without the title in his possession, a weight seemed to lift off of Punk's shoulders, remorse set in for his recent actions, and apologies were made. One night later at "Punk: The Final Chapter", in his hometown of Chicago, ROH fans had their chance to bid Punk a final farewell as he and longtime friend & tag team partner Colt Cabana fought it out one last time in a 2/3 Falls contest. Colt won in the end, but that was secondary to both the fans & the ROH locker room getting their opportunity to say thank you & goodbye to a man who had helped carry ROH on his shoulders for the last few years. It was an emotional farewell on par with Paul London's goodbye at "Death Before Dishonor" two years prior as both moments involved bidding adieu to true ROH originals, men who helped mold the identity of Ring of Honor with their passion and work ethic. Punk later made a one-night only surprise return at "Unscripted II" and the rest, as they say, is history, but for more news on "The Summer of Punk", we suggest you keep an eye on ROHWrestling.com ---###--- Decade of Honor #9 (Updated 2/16/12) - On May 14, 2005 at "Nowhere to Run", after losing to then-ROH World Champion Austin Aries in a championship bout, "The American Dragon" Bryan Danielson elected to take a leave of absence from Ring of Honor, frustrated at his inability to capture the ROH World Title even once over the last 3 years. During that time away Danielson toured the world, honed his craft, and made a triumphant return to ROH several months later, albeit one with a slightly different landscape. In Bryan's time away the ROH World Title had moved from Austin Aries to CM Punk then finally to James Gibson who held it in his grasp on September 17th when Danielson stepped back into ROH competition at "Glory by Honor IV". His lone request to ROH officials prior to coming back: give me a title match because it was the only thing he had not done in Ring of Honor. To paraphrase Bryan, "If I don't win the ROH World Title, everything I've done means nothing". Well for over 30 minutes he and Gibson fought like lions over the most important title in professional wrestling, a title that represents "freedom" as Danielson would later put it. As back and forth as any ROH championship match, it ultimately came down to Gibson fighting for his life in a serious of suplexes and submissions before finally relenting to the Crossface Chickenwing. Finally, after 3 years of pursuing the belt, Bryan Danielson captured the ROH World Title and would go on to establish a reign as legendary as that of Samoa Joe's. While not as lengthy, Danielson continued the tradition of being a fighting champion with a record setting 38 successful title defenses during the 462 days in which he held the title. Putting down the challenges of everyone from Naomichi Marufuji & KENTA to Samoa Joe & Aries, Danielson earned his moniker of "Best Wrestler in the World" with one hard fought battle after another, competing with injuries that would put most men on the shelf for months, and defining himself as one of the few, true ROH Legends. ---###--- Decade of Honor #10 (Updated 2/21/12) - The atmosphere in the New Yorker Hotel was electric that night. The room packed wall-to-wall, the balcony utterly full, you could even say there was a sell-out in the locker room as everyone in the building on October 1, 2005 wanted to bear witness to the clash that was about to take place. On one side of the ring you had an ROH Legend, the man who had carried the ROH World Title for nearly 2 years, established the prestigious championship legacy that lives on through the champions of today, and helped build Ring of Honor into what it is now: Samoa Joe. On the other side of the ring you had a Puroresu Legend, a highly decorated champion in his own right, claiming Pro Wrestling NOAH's GHC Heavyweight title & All Japan's Triple Crown amongst numerous other accolades, a man who innovated pro wrestling in Japan and influenced the generation that came after him like few others: Kenta Kobashi. It was one of Kobashi's first appearances in the United States and it would prove to be a memorable one, especially for the ROH faithful in attendance that night. The chops were brutal, causing sweat to fly with each thudding impact, and the suplexes delivered were devastating in their impact. It was one of the hardest hitting matches we had ever seen, and that is saying quite a lot in the history of Ring of Honor. After over 20 minutes of the most intense action imaginable, the Japanese legend secured the victory with the Burning Lariat and the battle secured "Match of the Year" honors for 2005. It was the start of a long healthy relationship between Pro Wrestling NOAH and Ring of Honor that continues to this day as their dojo is currently hosting The Bravado Brothers who are entering the 2nd month of their stay in Japan.
