Primeiro a sair.

There is no mention of a fee to be paid, but given Dinamo Kiev's history I would be willing to bet that the fee is somewhere between £6.5 and £8 million, though probably closer to the lower end because Kranjcar has only one year remaining on his contract. Considering that Spurs paid a reported £2.5 million for him any price in that range would make for a tidy profit.

Lambert delight at Villa job

I need the fans but we have to give them something, says new boss

Paul Lambert has spoken of the 'honour' of becoming Aston Villa manager and revealed his determination to 'drive the club on'.

Lambert quit as Norwich boss last week and, in his first press conference as Villa manager, he highlighted the need to galvanise the fanbase of the historic club.

"I'm honoured to be manager of the football club," said the 42-year-old. "I'll give it everything I've got to try and make it as successful as I can and the fanbase is huge.

"I'm delighted to be here. I can't wait to get going if truth be told. It's a huge club. I'm exciting by it.

"It's something I need to embrace more than anybody - the history it's got and the tradition.

"It's already won the European Cup which speaks volumes for itself. It's won titles and it's got everything going for it

"My job is to try and drive it on and that's what I'll try and do."

It was a disappointing season for Villa as they finished 16th in the Premier League with manager Alex McLeish being sacked the day after the season ended.

McLeish failed to win the support of fans from day one - partly due to his connections with rivals Birmingham but also due to the perception that he had produced boring football.

Entertain

Asked if he will try to entertain the fans, Lambert said: "We have to. I think that goes without saying. You've got to give them something. The players need them and I'll certainly need them.

"We'll need them because a football club needs the fans to drive it on and if we do that we'll be totally fine.

"There's a lot of expectancy at the club and it's not something I'm going to shy away from, it's something I'm going to thrive on hopefully.

"We have to try and play football the right way that I think for this football club. If we can do that, and we can win more games than not, then the crowd will certainly go with us."

Lambert also revealed he had taken advice from a former Villa boss in the shape of Martin O'Neill.

O'Neill guided Villa to three top-six finishes and Lambert knows the Northern Irishman well having served under him as club captain at Celtic.

Asked if he had spoken to O'Neill, the new manager said: "I did. He was brilliant about it. He was really complimentary.

"I know what he did here which was take the club into the top six which was a phenomenal achievement and it's something I've got to live with."

But Lambert won't be going public with his own ambitions for what the club can achieve next season.

He added: "If I started putting targets on people or a club then people get disappointed when you don't hit those targets. But I know within myself what I'd like to do."

Manchester City plan shock Sturridge return with £10m bid

Goal.com understands that Roberto Mancini wants to re-sign the City old boy and there is growing confidence at Etihad Stadium that a deal can be wrapped up quickly.

Sturridge has just a year remaining on his Chelsea contract and is considering his future after falling out of favour in the final months of the season and missing out on England's Euro 2012 squad.

City have emerged as the favourites for the signature of the 22-year-old, who retains close links to Manchester and was pictured on holiday this week with Micah Richards in the Caribbean.

Uncertainty over his future comes at a time when Chelsea are overhauling their attacking options. The Londoners are hopeful of adding Hulk to new signings Eden Hazard and Marko Marin, while Kevin De Bruyne will also move permanently to Stamford Bridge ahead of the new campaign.

Chelsea will demand around £12m for Sturridge, who was put on stand-by for the England squad following a season that yielded 13 goals for his club and in which he made both of his two international appearances for the senior team.

However, City negotiated a 15 per cent sell-on clause when they sold their former academy star to Stamford Bridge in 2009 and are hopeful a deal can be agreed for little over £10m.

Sources have told Goal.com that the 22-year-old’s £65,000 a week Chelsea wages are not considered to be a problem by City.

Mancini is a big admirer of Sturridge and has spoken in the past of his disappointment that the forward was sold to Chelsea shortly before he took over as manager.

Sturridge's frustration is twofold. He is unhappy at being played on the flanks at Chelsea rather than in his favourite centre-forward position and at his England exclusion after losing his regular club spot in the final months of the season. After his form deteriorated, he was an unused substitute in both the Champions League and FA Cup finals.

Speaking to the Jamaica Observer last Sunday, Sturridge said: "I feel hurt, but you know, maybe it is a blessing in disguise. It's going to spur me on to do better. It's going to drive me to want more success and to be a better footballer. I'm upset about it, but not too much.

"Winning the Champions league is the greatest achievement for any club, and I am just happy I was a part of a Chelsea team that created history in doing that. Having that medal is the highlight of my career."

Não me parece que isso seja verdade. Mas se for, é uma estupidez.

Tenho pena do AJ.

My heart beats only for Chelsea
